The door broke off on my 9v compartment in the first couple months of owning my Ninja. I contacted Legator to order a replacement, they said they were out of stock and they never responded after that. I recently found what battery compartment they use and ordered it. Perfect match replacement. They use the Kaish brand 9v compartments sold on Amazon for $9. No wonder the plastic door hinge broke. They use the cheapest option available.
Now THIS is the kind of channel I can jive with. I’ll take a guitar tech’s word over most UA-camrs because you’re similar to a mechanic in regards to viewing a guitar for function over form. It’s the same reason that, while I have Gibsons, I love my Yamaha guitars a little more. This seems greatly priced for what you get. I spent $4200 on a majesty 8 string and because of how much I spent, I went over it with a menta microscope and was always critiquing it’s issues, so I returned it. I would’ve kept it if I didn’t spend as much on it.
@@Adam_32 I’ll start by saying I was okay with the cost because I have another EBMM and definitely see where the money goes. It’s an excellent guitar. With the Majesty, particularly the gloss ones, the poly finish is soooooo glossy that you literally can’t keep fingerprints off of it. It almost feels slimy, and I’m not usually one to complain about gloss finishes. The other issue is I noticed the nut is very deeply embedded into the finish, so much so that you can’t even tell it’s a separate part; it seems like it’s formed from the neck. The guitar also played really well and the neck was the most comfortable 8 string out of the three I’ve tried, even the fan was easy to get use to. But, I hated the pickups, and at $4200+, I didn’t want to spend more money to change the pickups out. They reminded me of the dimarzio pickups of the 90s that had that gross low-mid frequency hump. So I returned it. I will say, I’d be more accepting of the pickups if I got one of the newest ones that are matte finished, but overall, the hype is over for me with Majesty models.
Just ordered a Legator Ghost G8FX as a birthday gift to myself! I hope that guitar doesn't require any fret work and is good to go straight out of the box! This will be my first string and the features that legator offers for the price point is just crazy. Much better than other brands like strandberg and keisel. I already own two 6 string strandbergs, they are amazing instruments as well. I just wanted to try out something different, so legator it is!
How is it working out with where the neck starts to thicken around the 1st fret. Comfortable? It doesn't look as obstructive on the extended range models.
Thinking of Buying this guitar this Christmas. I personally wanted a multiscale 8 string with passive pickups at a $1000 price range and it checks out almost all the boxes. If you think it wouldn't be the right choice, please let me know.
I think it’d be a great choice, just play the one you get a lot to see how well it’s setup and if it has any fretwork issues try to exchange it. That could happen with any guitar almost
Good honest review. Any updates on how the guitar is working out for you with a refret or not etc..? Also if not too much trouble could you please measure the nut width and the string to string width at the bridge at right angles? Would just be interesting to note the string spacing compared other 8 string guitars. Thanks!
@@jeremiahmcgowan Gotcha, that makes sense! If you take the neck off to do the frets, that's probably when a straight edge will be required to get it flat without string tension, no?
Great vid! I’m planning on getting a multi scale, headless 8 string and was looking around online and found that this could be a good option. Would you still recommend it?
If you can get a Kiesel, Aristides, or Strandberg, I would recommend one of those first, but for a cheaper option, these are awesome. The pickups are the only thing I personally didn't dig all that much.
I remember wanting a headless 8 string pink star model by them(it was for a joke music vid) and before I even bought the thing the string popped out of the saddle, okay no big deal then (I swear on my whole life) the bridge LITERALLY FELL OFF THE GUITAR🤣🤣 put that shit back, didn’t tell any of the workers and went home glad I didn’t almost waste my money on it. But that’s only one model so I’d have no idea if they’re a decent brand or not
Can you recommend a brand of strings that has an 80 low string that will fit this guitar? For some brands, the low string has a larger ball end and it won’t fit into the hole in the bridge. Which strings have you had success with?
I appreciate man. Definitely a cool guitar, I wish they made this finish on the higher end model with stainless steel frets. I could refret it, swap out the pickups, and maybe hardware, but I'm not sure if that's really worth it
Okay, serious question that makes me feel really dumb: when I go on guitar center/musicians friend to look at this exact guitar, it doesn’t show a battery compartment installed in the back.. am I crazy? Is there any chance they made versions of this exact guitar with and without battery compartments? If anyone has any info on this I’d love to know, as I’m interested in the guitar but would prefer to switch out the pickups for fluences without cutting into it to install my own compartment.
The tuners on the bridge work alright. It stayed in tune pretty well for me. I personally prefer tuning to attack which is awkward to do on a headless, but they have many advantages, so you really have to try one out to see if they are for you!
I noticed this too. Seems like you have trouble pronouncing words with EL at the end. Such as channel or model. You're finishing those words with an ER sound.
This doesn't make sense. The Ghost doesn't have active pickups or a slot for a battery for active pickups. I've checked everywhere and can't find this version with active pickups out of the box. The only one close is the 2022, but that model doesn't come in that blue color.
The ghost G8FP comes with their Hive passive pickups, but they are the same dimensions as the Fishman Fluence and the guitar comes with a stereo jack and empty battery box pre-installed. I showed it in the video. It's ready to put active pickups in, you for Just have to swap out the pots. I have done this for some customers. But this guitar is being replaced by the 2022 model.
Legator replaces their guitars each year, for at least the Ghost and Ninja series. The Ghost series of 2021 had the guitar featured in the vid as well as a stealth black and Flamingo pink version. You'll only be able to get 2021 Ghost or Ninjas from the second hand market or from other rare vendors.

That's awesome!

It’s phenomenal IMO
Do you tune at the head stock? Or at the bottom of the guitar?
You tune at the body/bridge
Did you have to buy additional slotted straight-edges to work with the truss rod? How do techs do truss rod work generally with large/multi-scales?
On this one, I just used the strings as a straight edge and a feeler gauge at about the 7th fret.

I'd love to get that she'll pink multiscale Jackson that Misha Mansoor has!
That’s such a cool looking guitar! It plays so smooth too.
I love the way it looks
Are nickel frets bad in anyway?
Nickel frets are softer than stainless steel frets and wear much faster, which can cause fret buzz as they wear.
My 8th string tuner broke on day 3 :/ 14 years playing and I’ve never broken an Ibanez, LTD, Schecter or Jackson before…
