I remember this being the first sims world I ever played with as a kid! Hermia died in an accidental fire, and then her ghost scared Romeo to death so I had Juliet plead with the grim reaper to bring him back to life. But then Hermia scared Juliet and she died :( a classic Shakespearean tragedy. 9 year old me was heartbroken.
Hermia snuck out with Puck, (so did Juliette and Romeo) and when she came back she died of starvation and I didn't have cheats that time so I shut down my computer without saving and I'm feeding Hermia next time she sneaks out and she died near the refrigerator too... her step-grandmother (Consorts new wife) and Consort were too late so she was gone forever :(

I always get the feeling that family is cursed, because Juliet and Hermia also died tragically in a fire the 1st time I played them, and Tibalt was the only one survivor... Then I joined Tibalt and Titania, I thought they went nicely together, and she also died after some time in the Capp household! I was devastated :(

It just occurred to me that Titania wanting to adopt a child is sort of based on the actual plot of the play!

@@lazyacademic In Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream, Oberon and Titania are married and they are fighting with each other over an Indian boy. Titania wants the child because she promised his dead mother that she would raise and care for the child. However, Oberon is jealous of Titania because she has taken all her care into the boy. Eventually, they fight to get the young Indian boy to be a part of their entourage. I think that's how she related the game's plot to that of the actual play - which I agree :)
I love this plot and when I remade the Summerdream family in TS4, I had them adopt a son and I made him over to appear of Indian descent and I named him Lovely because that’s all he’s referred to as in the original play, “A Lovely Indian Boy.”
I think I'll do the same with my Summerdreams. Titania wants to marry off six children in my game. So far I've adopted one extra child called Brenda (she came with that name), who lives with Puck and Bottom.
I dont care that everybody in the neighbourhood ends up related anyway, because back in the Shakespeare days, it was normal because of status and money. So I marry the 2 and 3 degree cousins

@@XxCOOKEExxMONSTARxX you can delete Sims, but in the Sims 2 that’s really not recommended since the game was so easily prone to corruption by deleting Sims.

@@MopsyDoo Even putting at lot that had Sims living on it in the past into the lot bin can corrupt things in TS2. That’s how prone to corruption it is.

I have no patience! In a family in the neighborhood I'm playing (one created by me), the matriarch got pregnant 3 times, the first time ok, the heir was born, the other two times I had her """abort""", canceling pregnancy... No thanks, I don't want to have to potty train a toddler again... Had to put three potties in one room to potty train the daughter! 😂 I really don't want to do it again... At least until I recharge my batteries, letting the heir of the first family finish the university...
After playing this for the first time recently, I feel really bad for Mercutio. In my game, he first got beaten up by Tybald, than by Juliette (yes, she wasn't content with just slapping him, she got in a full on fight with him - and totally owned him). At the Summerdream's party he walked right in on both Puck and Hermia kissing and then on them going steady, got then beaten up by Romeo and again by Tybald while Juliette was laughing at him. And when he finally went off to college, nobody cared or saw him off, while both of his grandparents made a big fuss about Romeo instead. Poor guy just can't catch a break :D
One thing I heard about adopting babies in the Sims 2 that I think is pretty cool is that they get their genetics by randomizing 2 of the townies. I really liked that extra connection to the larger world.
When Tybalt shoved Romeo, Juliette and Hermia just watched and then Juliette noogied her new boyfriend? Almost seems like she's playing with Romeo and actually bullies him with her family. That'd be an interesting twist on the play xD
The Capps are all about noogies. Noogies all day, every day.
It's true there is a chance that Mercutio wins the fight, but its REALLY unlikely, because of the difference in body skills.
I had it happen when I was testing this scenario for the video! LOL. I was quite surprised!
I thought I was the only one who’s scripted event with the Capps was broken but glad I’m not and I have the disc version. Great video Cindy 🙂
That's good to know! Maybe it's just broken completely! That's too bad, but you can still mostly simulate the situation.

@@PleasantSims you probably know this by now but all of the sims in the capp family have a token disabling their event because mean interactions between teens and adults were removed. you should be able to go into simpe and remove the token, but I'd recommend looking up a tutorial or something for what exactly you should do because I don't know

The reason Mercutio didn't go into aspiration failure after losing the fight is because only young adults, adults and elders can go into aspiration failiure, younger life stages do get some unique autonomous interactions when at low aspiration which that fight might be attempting to showcase.
Oh so children and toddler don't get taken by social worker if they go into aspiration failure?

To go into more detail about what happens if you fix the Capp scripted event:
1) Motives are changed: Hermia and Tybalt have their social and fun needs halfway, and Consort's energy is set quite low
2) The player is prompted to have Juliette propose going steady with Romeo
3) Doing so will cause Romeo to accept, and then kiss Juliette
4) This will prompt Consort to go outside and *lecture* Romeo
- - - Elders CAN lecture teens post-OFB so this should work fine even without a mod that re-enables teen-adult and teen-elder fighting
5) After being lectured, Romeo will leave the lot immediately. Him being gone sets up a good stage for Juliette to sneak out with him
This scripted event is based on the famous balcony scene in Romeo and Juliet (ironically Capp Manor lacks the balcony), where the lovers pledge their love for each other. Later on in the play the two sneak out to officially get married by Friar Lawrence, which is represented by Juliette's sneak out want.
Is there any way to make it happen without simpe?
@@ravenID429 Hmm, you do need SimPe to remove the token that blocks the scripted event, but there are a couple of clean neighbourhoods available for download that have the token removed already. I'd recommend looking one of those up ^^
whenever i used to play veronaville as a kid, i always made families based on other shakespeare plays, even if it's not premades i just kinda treated them like they were.
Whenever I’d play the Summerdream family, my party always got broken up by the cops. Literally every single time.
I remember the Capp family scripted event from when i was a youngin with no expansions, and I believe possibly with only nightlife and seasons installed, so it must've got broken with a later expansion.
I believe it got broken after the Open For Business (or maybe after later ones) when they disabled mean interactions between adults and teens.

Veronaville is so under appreciated
For anyone who's interested, the reason why a popup doesn't show up in Capp Manor is because the lot actually has a token which prevents the popup from showing up properly. You can fix this loading SimPE in Debug Mode and then do this: Tools > Neighbourhood > Neighbourhood Browser > Load "Veronaville" > Neighbourhood Memory (it's in the right panel) > Debug > Select "Lots" from the drop down list and choose the one ending with 0x…34 > Tokens > Remove "Controller - Game Scripting".
Now the popup should appear without any problem.
Also if you own OFB ownards you may need a mod called "Mean to everyone" so Consort can shove Romeo, as mean interactions were disabled for Adult-Teens from OFB
So they disabled it on purpose?
I always wanted to do a medieval hood and default everything for that, and as difficult as that would be, I wouldn't wanna make my own hood for it, I think Veronaville would be a great hood for that because of the Shakespearean theme.
That's a really good idea! I've always wanted to do a Medieval 'hood too. Maybe someday I'll find the time to set one up!
Long time ago, I actually dressed the Montys and the Capps to looked like the one seen in Luhrmann's Romeo + Juliet.
I believe the scripted event being broken is due to the ultimate collection, because last month I played it (I have all expansion and stuff packs but not the ultimate version) and all the pop-ups were there. Maybe it got "lost in translation", just like you said :)
I have never in my life even once played with the premade sims in veronaville, so it’s so fun to see you go through the scripted events. I had no idea what drama would unfold! I love when you say what you imagine is happening to make the story more real too. (also the editing in this video was really great) ok bye 🙈
i havent played veronaville since installing ultimate collection. but i remember there's also a pop up about consort wanting to retire.

I think Veronaville was the first town I ever played when I started playing the Sims 2 as a seven-year-old. I played the Capps first and the old guy was probably my first sim death ever! I thought it was so scary and terrible so I didn't save the game after that. Then I made my parents and me and my brother, who soon ran out of money and almost starved to death, so I moved them in with the Monty's (I had no idea how to cheat for money, lol). I vividly remember that they were having a party, and my family's presence was so out of place and awkward, lol! Never knew the whole party was like a scripted event. I soon abandoned Veronaville (also because I found the face paint so awkward) and I don't think I ever played that town again. Thanks for the trip down memory lane!
i actually love the fact that mercutio is supposed to always lose the fight against tybalt, that's a really cool reference to the play
I remember, year 2004 i was 10 my sister 12 we both spend all our money to buy The Sims 2. Summerdream family was our first family. And after loading screen we doesn't know what to do , It was first kiss , fights , wedding , police come to end party :D Hillarious first playing

You should watch marticorew baby adoption video or whatever it's called! Seems like they're not technically randomly generated but get townie biological parents instead (since there's no baby cas there's no baby randomizer basically)

0:45 whilst making scripted notifications for my custom hood I noticed that there was supposed to be a notification that shows up for the Capp family as well as a scripted event, however, like you said, it was broken. Also romeo’s parents where supposed to be alive and playable as they have bio’s and skills
Omgg I remember getting the Consort scripted event YEARS ago when I was like 9/10 (I'm 22 now lol) and I used to get so mad every time it happened

The drama in Veronaville is my second favourite after Strangetown, but I've been procrastinating on playing it because I don’t know how to avoid the Alabama situations :,D
And yeah, I have Ultimate Collection but the event in the Capps doesn’t work. I think it’s a glitch or something.
I think moving in the Uni Sims from Academie Le Tour helps with getting new blood in the 'hood. That's the only solution I've found besides creating more Sims and I don't like that.
Pleasant Sims I know, but I don’t like it, mainly because the families there don’t fit with the Shakespearean theme lol. I thought of adding new families of my creation based off of Shakespeare's other plays, like the Merchant of Venice. I’m not sure I like it, since I have to insert them in the main storyline somehow, but it would be fun to try. :P

Another tip - aging up child or teen townies so that they can be love interests. I usually have Tybalt marry a townie for example.
I've only ever played the Capp's in Veronaville, but the Shakesperian theme has always fascinated me. Maybe after I get done with the scripted events in Pleasantview I'll try to start Veronaville, just to see which I enjoy more.
Veronaville does need fresh blood alright. Maybe that's why the Summerdreams moved to neighbourhood
I used to have the disc version of Sims 2 and the juliet, romeo, consort scene always wored for me.
From the feedback I've received, it looks like it was broken in one of the later expansion packs. Too bad!
I love these videos of yours! Really reminds me of being a kid when Sims 2 first came out. I used to love playing the premade families and then once I’d played them on my own account on Windows XP I would log into my mum’s account, then my dad’s, then my sister’s so I could play the same families over again from the beginning. 😂
I think because this neighborhood is based off Romeo and Juliet by Shakespeare, Mercutio goes to fight Tybalt (tibalt is how it's pronounced) when Juliet arrives at the house because in the play they get into a swordfight and that's when one of them dies. Can't remember who, I think tybalt.

everytime I play Romeo I ask Juliet on a date instead of inviting her over, and when she comes back to leave a gift at his door Tybalt always comes with her as well! the first time I did this he automatically fought with Romeo too lmao just found your channel and im loving your vids!!

I've restarted Veronaville recently and while Tatiana didn't get the want to Adopt a Child, I'm going to have her do so anyways. I have the Adopt a Townie mod and am going to create a couple of toddlers/children from them to adopt, all named after the fairies in the play. I have some CC that really helps sell the idea of them all being faries and use them to really sell the "fairy" image the family has. I do things like giving Tatiania wings and Oberon antlers, Bottom gets flowers in her hair and Puck gets some skeletal face paint. I stick to a theme for each one and build the look around it. I do the same for any future, adopted or not, kids. I also like to play where fairies live twice as long as regular sims, which makes Hermia and Puck's romance a tragic one as he'll live on long after she passes of Old Age.

I remember this event the first house I played was the Capp house, I was 10 and so excited, so yes the CD had the scripted event.
From the feedback I received, I believe it was broken somehow in an expansion or maybe a patch. Many people reported getting the events with base game. So strange!
I think I had the same thing with scripted events not working in the Capp family last time I played..i didn't even have any pop-ups for them, for the other two households it worked just fine.
Actually, the neighborhood is of decent size once you put all the capp/monty offspring out of the bin, but it can be difficult to pair them up :)
That one dislike is everyone who had their relationships ruined in veronaville

because Ohh my goodness marrying blood related family is really high in this gameplay in the sims 2
i've noticed even if it's not that actually easy for it to happen but those changes are still high from what
i know if the family members are at least few generations happening ..... for once random townies are
annoying! but they at least having them here may be a good here veronaville when comes to new blood
but i guess premade townies are a thing your gonna probably use in your game in here since it's kinda
important knowing your style of gameplay i bet
I always play the Summerdreams first because it makes most sense that the face paint/masks are for the party.
In my game, I like to run "intercept" with my own CAS Sims. Titania leaves Oberon to marry one of my CAS Sims, She takes Bottom with her. Juliet, AND Hermia, end up with a CAS Sim. Hard not to, when they have a three-bolt attraction. Romeo, ends up with Desdemona Capp eventually, and Mercutio, ends up with Miranda. Oberon isn't left out, however. He ends up with "Lily Autumnleaf" (another Elf), another one of my CAS Sims. I've played the Maxis scripted events like you did, and found that I can stir much more drama, over a longer period of time, with doing my own events. I have Veronaville in a tail spin! :^)

Veronaville has always been my favorite neighborhood, way more original than Pleasantview! I would LOVE a gameplay. And I used to have the CD version and the scenery was broken for me too.

I have an uberhood so i probably wont do this, but if youre playing Veronaville and need new blood, you could recreate characters from other Shakespeare plays. Theres a child Desdemona in the hood already so you could also create a child Othello if you wanted to? Plus if you move in the non Monty or Capp neighbourhood bin famillies and add Bluewater that would help too x

Family Tree of the Capps go back to Julius Caesar, Mark Antony and Cleopatra. All the males married to the female "heir" of Cleopatra changed their names to Capp. Consort is exactly that.... Veronaville just became much much more interesting. Thanks Cindy.
Idk why but when I was a child I was OBSESSED with these families. I think it was the magical look and the amount of teens🤷🏼♀️
There's a new clean Veronaville on MTS with the townies & npc's included that has the Capp scripted event fixed and working! I would love to see you stream this neighborhood or do a let's play eventually :)

The reasons why the scripted events don't take place is because the Capp family has a hidden token which blocks scripted events from happening.
I have The Ultimate Collection as well, and this event works for me, including Consort coming out to lecture the teens. Consort will also usually want to retire, in my game, as well, similar to Olive Specter. Everything else, including the Tybalt fight, often happens too.

I was always so confused when I make them go steady and Romeo has negative memory of it!
I was going to make a joke about Puck and Hermia but then I remembered that I'm currently in that play and the cast has made some very interesting character decisions. So Puck and Hermia really isn't that strange when you consider that our mechanicals are in a poly.
Great video - you made me add Veronaville to my current neighbourhoods! The Capps’ script is broken for me too so your video was a great guide instead. Also for me the Summerdream party got broken up by the police and I think that’s something that happened when I have played this neighbourhood in the past...don’t know if it’s scripted or just chance...
Never happened for me, so it's not scripted. But funny when it happens!
I also like attaching blue water village to veronaville because I don’t think it fits with pleasant view. Plus I add downtown to pleasant view because downtown doesn’t fit with veronaville

I still need to get into Veronaville as I loved it back in the day but I just started a new hood thats kind of build a city challenge, but I only follow the start rules and the equal day cycle rule (except uni which I play 8 days instead of 4) because I have my own rules for more fun, Like banning adding any CAS families.
Even back in the day when I had my discs I never got that scripted event... I didn’t even know there was one because I never saw it!
Hi Cindy! Really enjoyed the video as I love Veronaville, mainly cause I really enjoy Shakespeare’s plays 😂 But I just wanted to let you know that you’re actually pronouncing Titania wrong. You’ve been pronouncing Titania like “Ty-Taa-Nee-Uh”, however, it is actually pronounced like “Tit-Arn-Ya” (if that makes sense) and sometimes pronounced as “Tit-Ann-Ya” (I think ‘Tit-Ann-Ya’ is the more american pronunciation as I don’t think ‘Tit-Arn-Ya’ works well with the American accent and how you guys pronounce specific vowels and stuff along those lines. Whilst ‘Tit-Arn-Ya’ is the proper/British pronunciation.) Hope this helps!
Oh and btw I don’t mean any hate by this so I hope you don’t get offended by anything I said! 🙂

My versions of my latest game. (I also played with Veronaville as a subhood to Pleasentview, same with Strangetown, so don't be surprised when you see some of the names pop up.)
Consort, Tybalt, Juliette and Hermia - Consort falls for Denise Jacquet shortly after Mortimer dies, but they don't get a chance to marry as she dies before I could get him to propose to her. He repairs the relationship he had with Isabella. Juliette is married to Romeo and they united the two clans more or less. Juliette also is in the education career and is a wonderful mother, telling her children to persue their true loves. Hermia is married to Puck Summerdream, and both of them are good witches raising witchy-warlock babies. Hermia is also in the journalism career. Tybalt is with a successful musician and is married to Viola with a child. Who is this girl? Well... I'll explain later.
Goneril, Albany, Miranda, Desdemona, Hal and Ariel - Albany and Goneril were betrothed when they were teenagers and they have a very rocky marriage. Albany wants more kids but Goneril is firm in saying "no more!". Albany is also in the education career and Goneril is in business like her dad. Miranda is in the dance career and is married to Mercutio - I changed her aspiration to pleasure in college so she wouldn't cheat on him. Hal ended up dating Bottom - renamed India - and has a part time job in the intelligence career. Desdemona ended up with Benedict and has a part time job in the dance career just like her older sister. Ariel is in love with Beau Broke and is in a part time job in the gamer career.
Regan, Cornwall and Kent - Regan and Cornwall don't have a good marriage either, yet they did manage to have one little girl. Both are employed in the business career. Kent meanwhile is in the science career - he started at level six because he has quite a bit of skills. He got married to Bianca Monty and they have twins.
Patrizo, Isabella, Mercutio and Romeo - Patrizo and Isabella lived out their golden years very happily together until Patrizo died. Isabella also repaired her relationship with Consort. Mercutio ended up with Miranda and in the culinary career, and Romeo ended up with Juliette - changed his aspiration to Pleasure in college so no cheating can occur - and he's also in the culinary career. (I can't not give these two a happy ending, okay?).
Antonio, Beatrice and Benedict - Antonio kept his culinary job and married Brandi Broke; both made wonderful parents to their stepchildren. Beatrice ended up dating Orlando, the adopted son of Herb and Coral, and she also went into the culinary career as a part-time job. Benedict ended up dating Desdemona and went into the culinary career as well.
Bianca - She gets married to Kent and they have twins. She is also in the culinary career and she started at level six because she had all the skills required to get that job.
Titania, Oberon, Puck and Bottom/India - Changed Bottom's name to India because who would name their child Bottom?! Titania and Oberon remarried and lived out wonderful lives, hosting parties every Saturday and trying to improve the relationships between the Capps and Montys. Oh, and they are good witches. Puck married Hermia and kept his job in the slacker career after college, they have witchy-warlock babies. Not only that, India - also a good witch - managed to date Hal Capp and she is in a part time job in the dance career.
And Viola... she was a deleted character from the game files. I recreated her from scratch in CAS and used the sim blender to make her the granddaughter of Isabella and Patrizo and the sister of Romeo and Mercutio. She's been given the Leo starsign, the Popularity aspiration and was level three of the Culinary career as a teenager by me. She was in love with Tybalt and the two of them married after they graduated college. Viola then became involved in the artist career after that.
