Non violin players use knobs, sliders, keyboards, a computer and grin at each other as others can torment themselves. - By the way, it's also more neighbor-friendly.
Finally someone I found who actually practices vibrato. My friends say it’s just shaking their hand 💀 but it’s actually not for non violin players this is hard at first so don’t expect to pick it up in like 1 day
I did it easily on my first day... With 1 week of experience... My vibrato wasn't fast but my father as an old violinist said my progress is faster than way too many people to be able to do vibrato this fast
@@Corrietheviolinist Yes can you PLEASE share how to learn vibrato faster like NKW especially for index and pinky fingers?? I am getting tired and depressed and discouraged..thanks for sharing
I have a fun story on how i learnt vibrato, i asked my teacher how long will it take for me to learn new techniques? (I was playing for 6 months at this point) he said which exact one are you talking about to which i replied with vibrato, and he said well, pick up the violin and try doing it, i did it perfectly and he said just dont overuse it and you're good, i miss him alot such a nice guy
@@Corrietheviolinist I'm happy you think that way but i suck at a lot of things when it comes to violin lmao the way he assured me i could do it definitely made it a lot more feasible tbh
This is a gold mine...As someone who just started playing, I have had a heck of a time nailing the vibrato. I never thought of this is has already helped me a great deal. Thank you for sharing.
This is how I'm currently learning vibrato and let me just say that nothing, not a degree in music on the classical guitar (vibrato on guitar doesn't help) nor anything I've learned on the violin prepares one for this procedure. It's a difficult effort but is worth the time to get that professional tone and sound. I thank you for the video which helps remind me to put in my daily twenty minutes of practice (5 minutes per finger). My efforts WILL be rewarded one day, hopefully in the not-too-distant future.
I don't know anything about the violin, so this was super educational for me. I had no clue that when y'all do vibrato you're actually moving your fingers down and up the neck, I just thought you were shaking your hand 🤣. This makes much more sense and is way harder and makes me appreciate it even more!
Just a tip from a VERY LONG TIME PLAYER: Get that elbow off the body and use more arm and less wrist :) It adds character and stylizes the sound more if that makes sense
@perfidia795 Arm vibrato promotes flexibility. I think its something everybody should learn especially in a slow paced exercise like this. Wrist vibrato is more useful for songs such as those in presto. I use wrist vibrato too but a flexible player will be more successful.
@@kuraxhmake sure you can hold the violin with just your chin, and try applying pressure or vibrating your fingers without your thumb as help. If you can do that, it should not shake.
This is good. I don’t do finger vibrato because i never learned. My vibrato moves all the way to my elbow. It’s difficult for me to do fast vibrato, mine is really wide and I wish I could have different vibratos for different pieces/styles. I’ll try this!
Also, plucking closer the bridge isn't as resonant as plucking towards the middle of string since youll have more leverage where the string is the least tensioned.
Just started playing a few months ago. Can’t get vibrato without completely throwing off my bow hand (I can’t get it at all really). Thankyou thankyou thankyou for sharing this technique. Paired with some time and effort I think this is the exercise that will get me there.
I used to play Violin on and off for around 8-9 years back when I was a kid and in my early teenage years, but I've been away from it for maybe about 5 years now, and I'm trying to get back to it, I tried this and as easy as it might look, this is not easy at all. And your Vibrato was not rusty at all😅 In fact it was very clean, but playing the Violin it always seems rusty for yourself but the people around or non musicians don't see it being rusty.
Oh and thank u. I'm actually excited because I play literally Amy instrument u can think of but just started violin. I naturally can do the fingerings and notes but the bow kills me
My arm feels so weak when I try but I can do it a little. You just need to start slow and in time it will get better. I HAVE BAD AND GOOD NEWS!!! My teacher told me that I didn't have to practice vibrato as a special technique. Vibrato comes naturally when my violin technique in whole improves to a certain level.

Elbow comment valid but arm wrist or finger vib. is all valid, none is better than the other just whatever you become most comfortable with

Yes lots of different ways to do vibrato. As you get more comfortable with the isolation of the hand, that's where the freedom comes back in. :)
Whenether i do it with my arm or wrist why does my violon keep shaking

What to reconsider before leaning vibrato
Should we know 1st note on first position before starting vibrato?
Yes! You should be able to play all first position notes before starting vibrato!
