You are so pretty Chi, and so funny1 When you stick out your tummy on purpose we all know you are exaggerating but we all feet that way sometimes. When we have poor posture or slouch for a moment, or just ate, it seems that is when someone takes our picture!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you for not trying to be that "perfect" influencer-type. Very sweet.
Brillliant! I've always struggled with linen pants. I'm not petit but am short-waisted and carry my weight in my middle so your tips work sooooo well for me. Thank you!!
I stumbled across your channel and was immediately positively surprised. Very helpful tips for petite persons, myself included! Also extra points for your practical approach, without any fake enthusiasm or over exaggerated hand gestures. Keep going, I subscribed!
Even though you feel we shouldn't wear closed-toe shoes with linen pants, I like and wear low-profile white sneakers with mine and I think they look great.😊
The elastic of my linen pants never shows, a tucked shirt has a little fabric out that covers it. A leather belt with linen pants in summer seems like an odd combo for the season.
I tried on several elastic waist linen pants and they are not flattering especially if one has a belly! The ones with the waist band are definitely much more flattering! I wear my wide leg linen pants with a pointy toe, flat mules. Since the mules are open at the back, it's less heavy.
I love your suggestions, I bought my first linen cream wide leg pants with a matching belt, and I had no idea how to wear them😅. And thank you for the visual ideas
One irritation with light coloured linen pants is that the pocket linings always show through - no matter how close my panties are to my skin colour. That triple layer of fabric just looks awful. My solution: I sewed the pockets closed and cut off the lining on the edge of that stitching. seldom use the pockets anyway.
I tried linen pants several times, it is very hard to make it work. I just don't like the shameless feel. With the tips Chi shared, it will help a lot. But I found linen skirts or shorts are so much easier to style
The only problem with a belt is I usually wear linen pants when I need to feel cooler. A belt just adds to the heat at your waist, as if that bulky elastic waist doesn’t heat you up enough. I wish they made linen pants with a thin drawstring at the waist and no elastic. I have a very old pair of shorts made this way and they are extremely cool in the hottest weather.
I thought I’d hit the jack pot when I found linen pants with a drawstring. Somehow the darn things just loosen up and start sliding down no matter how tight I tie them. I’m thinking of threading a thin elastic through the waistband.
It is generally not to hard to remove the elastic and change it to a drawstring. If you don't know someone who sews, it is often worth it to take it to a tailor.
@@roadrunnercrazy while I do see, you really only have to use a safety pin and thread an elastic through the waistband. Tie it off at the end and you are good to go. 😊
Excellent info on linen pants. I hope to get some this summer and you have given me lots of great tips. I think the only thing wrong with the jeans you show in the last minute of this video is that your shirt is too big and needs to be tucked in or exchanged for a more fitted top. It’s not that the jeans themselves are ‘unflattering’ at all.
Thank you for all these tips I needed to hear. I am 5 feet and just lost 20 pounds and want to buy the most flattering new things. Thank you soooo much❤
👋 Love your Video. And I would love to wear Off the shoulder Tops more often but- how do you make your offshoulder-Tops stay where ithey should be? Mine seem to always slide up and that makes it uncomfortable! Greetings Silvia
omg THANK YOU for acknowledging that elastic pants are just not flattering. I refuse to wear them because my body type just can't handle it, including the elastic waistband in the small of the back.
Thats my problem, I like how they look on the front, but make my backside worse, I hate summer b/c i don't like wearing shorts anymore, and most linen pants are not flattering on me, i'm going to keep trying though!
I'm surprised. I though elasicated waistbands were flattering on everyone (they accommodate different body types and weight fluctuation throughout cycles) 😅. You learn something everyday. Personally, I prefer a flat front and elasticated back. Or the paperbag style with a matching belt. But I don't mind fully easticated pants. To me it's the front pleats that I find unflattering. Are for you too?
Hi Chin, what is the best type of panty and color to wear with thin, see-through linen pants (and currently very trendy in apparel store now) ? My guess is for a thin pant of taupe color, wearing a panty of similar color will do the trick, and for a beigh color pant, wear a nude color close to skin tone as possible will blend the colors thus minimizing color contrast of skin and panty, correct?
Hello dear. I’m a new subscriber and I really enjoy watching your videos. I learned a lot from you. Could you please made a video about the best way to wear a maxi shirt jean. Thank you so much. Have a wonderful day 🌷

I have a pair of white linen pants, with a very high waist and elastic band, and they also have a slit up to the knees. It makes me look very chunky. I still didn't find a proper way to wear them. Any tips?😢
Linen = A Massive NO! in my wardrobe. Why ? Because I look like an unmade bed within fifteen minutes of putting it on. I personally do not feel this lends an air of insouciant shabby chicness, especially if you wear it in northern climates like my home country of Canada. I watched this video only because Chi rocks and all her info is on point, even if I don't adopt the look myself. Linen makes sense in tropical climates, where *everyone* looks like an unmade bed, and no one cares because it's so blinking hot and linen redeems itself for it's breathability. But for the 6 weeks a year where linen is wearable in Canada, the juice is just not worth the squeeze for this fabrication to be part of my life. Clothes need to pass my personal Crush Test. I grab a garment on the hanger, mash it in my fist and hold for the count of 10. If it bounces back relatively unwrinkled ? it's a winner. Hello to putting the YES ! in polYESter !! and bamboo, we heart you too. Rayon, you are second only to Linen for being a pain in the butt. And uncombed, stiff, cotton or cotton-poplin blends you get 3rd place for Fabrics that Wrinkle like Hell. Iron ? Ain't Nobody Got Time For That !!!!
I’m in that tropical climate you talk about ( Fl) but still, I can’t make these pants look nice ! They’re so cool and comfortable but I may as well be wearing pajamas! So, not all of us look like unmade beds, btw, haha. I can’t find a top that pulls it all together , sigh…
When you're just trying to survive the heat without passing out, linen pants suddenly make sense. Yeah, in Canada...why bother? Besides, linen just doesn't "go" with the landscape up there.
I sew all my clothes and every linen fabric I’ve found is so scratchy! I made my husband a linen blend camp shirt and it wrinkled badly. Looked like he slept in it.
I sew my clothes too! There are some very cute linen texture imitations that don't wrinkle as much as real linen. And they are not scratchy. It's nice if you like the look of the linen fabrics.
Wrinkles are a hallmark of real linen. Those of us who don't live in an area where real linen is common aren't used to the look. I've been told that the wrinkling gets less as the linen garment is washed more, but I don't know from experience.
Hey I'm 5'2" but I don't consider myself petite, when I try petite pants they are always too short for me, same with blazers and some blouses. I prefer regular size clothes😅
Gotta pay attention to the inseam measurements when you’re buying. Just because it’s petite size, it doesn’t mean the length will be the same as others
5' 2&1/2" here. You probably have long legs and arms. That's my situation, too. I can't buy petite shirts because I need the length in the arms, and I'm right in between regular length and petite length pants most of the time. I wear shoes with a slight heel with regular pants and loafers or sneakers with petite pants. My torso is where I'm short.
@@ellentran96 interesting about the inseam. I learned how to make dresses with lining and cute details but know I want to learn how to make my own pants specifically trousers.
@@edennis8578 I do have long arms but is wierd, I don't consider my self to have long legs but I'm sure I don't have a short torso. My torso is a little bit longer then my mannequin with my same bust, waist and hip measurements.
I like to wear my white linen trousers together with a pair of lighter suede loafers with a lower vamp to show more of the foot, or different types of espadrilles, all in lighter colours. I avoid chunkier shoes. So no, you don't need to avoid linen trousers just because you can't wear open-toe shoes.

Great tips. At first I thought you were going to say that petites shouldn't wear them at all and I was gutted! These solutions are perfect
The elastic of my linen pants never shows, a tucked shirt has a little fabric out that covers it. A leather belt with linen pants in summer seems like an odd combo for the season.

Yes! Pockets always look awful on light colored linen pants!
I did that too!
Pockets show on any white pant, regardless of fabric.
The trouble is that the pocket needs to match your skin tone instead of the pants color. They seem to always make the pockets white, which stands out.
I have done that with several of my white pants.
I tried on several pairs and they were so unflattering. I look better in a tapered pant. It may not be trending, but it looks flattering on me.
Excellent insightful video as usual! Thanks Chi.
Now I understand why i don’t look flattering with linen pants no matter how i want to have them as part of items in my capsule. I’m 5’2 short torso
I needed this video. Am short, curvy and love linen
Hi please tell us more about linen dresses etc how to look good when wrinkles so much

Hollywood tape or similar
Maybe draw string instead of unflattering elastic waist. Closed flap pockets on butt would be great to add volume.
Great suggestions, I’m definitely going to try the belt and folding the blouse over the elastic. Thank you!
Not all linen pants are loose. There are some pricey capris (which if short =regular length if your really short😂) and tailored linen trousers.
