    I'd say it looks like the pre-rendered cutscene from a high-budget modern video game version of Avatar. At that budgets, I'd say that's a compliment.

    As a 3D animator who went to University and I'm still learning a lot about 3D modeling and animation, what you did in 4 months, you did an amazing job! It's okay to cheat if it saves you time and gives you better results.

      I don't know of an industry around it doesn't do a bit of cheating here and there to get things done
      Check look at Star wars (ep4 original) with the death Star trench run & made it out of a bunch of battleship models from

      That's what I'm currently learning. Cheating... isn't cheating. Like, making everything yourself is just a waste of time and makes the final product worse.
      I was making my own trees forever. A friend convinced me to just buy some trees. They look about the same quality... but I can get like ten variations that would have taken me... I don't even know how many hours to make.

      Why does everyone always comment this? You realise he makes more money with this youtube channel than he ever would working in VFX? Unless you're a top top tier VFX artist you don't earn anywhere near as much as he does, and he isn't a top top tier VFX artist.

      It also shows that you cant at the same time. Look at the original quality Avatar made, it shows that going from being great to being extremely great takes more than just a person's efforts.

      @@vk69525 this. I hate when people say you can do it by yourself. Listen the tech is there budget wise but no matter how good you are at doing everything yourself there's people better at certain things always. It's like folks get caught it in the I can do it myself ego and skip the fact you're trying to make amazing art. Even something simple as rendering this with an online render farm would save days of your life. Nonetheless I do think Hollywood is legitimately terrified as it's only a matter of time til their hold on the industry is inept

      @@MrArtVein Indeed. If i have not seen the comparison, what this guy did is actually super good. Everything seems perfect, the lighting the texture or the ray tracing everything. Until you see the original again and realize, wow they made something so much better than what we thought was perfect enough. The realism is mindblowing.

    Considering that you're not a team of 1000 people with hollywood funding, I'd say you're literally a one-man-cgi-army on your own. Having done 3D graphics for 20+ years myself, I know how much work goes into just 10 percent of what you did, so yeah - mindblowingly well done!

      I think group behind avatar had to also create the tools used. It really doesn't take as much resources when the tools are readily available.

      @@Tekkenandgaming I mean, for 2023 standards it really is considered pretty good, but not AMAZING. I don't mean this in a condescending way, I just find that Op's post saying it "didn't look that bad" makes sense considering.
      All in all, the clip that FilmCore created genuinely looks like something you'd see in a videogame trailer which makes sense because of that UE5 look. Definitely not as good as Avatar's official vfx but still professional and impressive work.

    Honestly, it's insane you've done this yourself, the end result may not be at the original movie's level, but the difference is almost negligible. I would 1000% pay to watch a full length version of this in a heart beat. Imagine if you were a 10 people team at that level of productivity, just crazy!

    God, now I feel so much more intimidated than I already did about learning all this stuff. I've already flunked one of my major game design classes because it's just so much to learn, so fast.
    Great job with your work! Even for being over budget, and past deadline, it turned out really good for a more or less homebrew project comparing itself to such a giant in the field.

    This perfectly illustrates the progress software and hardware has made in this time. 15 years ago, a one man crew, no matter how talented, could not do anything even close to this remake.

    As a 3d Artist i can tell how much work you have put into making that few seconds shots, great job is by no means easy to do all the steps involved in creating an scene like that and get al actually great result like the one you got, just by yourselft

    This is really impressive but after seeing this you realize how realistic james cameron avatar is and how talented the vfx artist ,animators actors etc. who worked on the movie are. You can seriously see the difference in quality in this and the movies, its actually amazing

    The animation and all the movement and scenery processes were amazing, since you did practically everything yourself it's amazing, in my opinion it would make a beautiful scene from an official avatar game, looks like a cutscene from a game. I loved

    This was absolutely amazing to watch and seriously makes me realize and appreciate just all the work the avatar team put in! The ending is hilarious btw, but one more aspect I think that was missed is the movement of the ears. That’s probably my favorite feature of the na’avi and the avatars so here it was very noticeable. This is still such an amazing project

    Yo this is sick! I’m in college, of course tryna to get myself into the video production world and have started to dive into a bit of animation. I’ve only taken a beginners course but I really was striving to learn more by going on UA-cam and learning how to really make my animations good. And I loved it. Cannot wait to finally put my animation and film skills into one and make something like this. This was an awesome way to show that it’s possible with just a bit of patience and time. Awesome work dude can’t wait to get working on things like this

    I am totally impressed really! And i love and absolutely loved the fact that you didn't forgot to mention and acknowledge all other expensive elements such as muscle sim which were missing. This is something i dont see with many other creators. Truely a masterpiece work considering its all in unreal

    I’m not a professional, but I do animation for 7 years, and I feel all the pain in creating this video… Yes, it’s a proof that everything can be done by one person, but the only obstacle is resources you have to make something. I wish talented people were given the opportunities, but ig talented people today have to raise money on their own… I liked the video so much, pls join the Avatar film makers and make a movie for us!!❤
