They are actually suppose to be coming out with a cut down lighter weight "hunting" style action. When they are available, I'll grab one and do a second video.
Appreciate the video breakdown and review. Looking forward to the next video. Have you had a chance to check how concentric and true the threads are to the bore line?
@@alanmeyers3957 Yes. All the big name custom actions come trued. That's why I asked if Aero was doing it at this price vs Stiller, Surgeon, Defiance, etc.
Not yet, I was waiting for the lightweight version to come out, which they are now. I tried to pick one up recently, but Aero sold Out really quick. When I get one, I'll do a follow up and most likely a build on one.
@@apexcustomrifles I just recently bought a rem 700 AAC-SD 308. I bought the Solus 17" competition Chassis and a 700 Calvin Elite Trigger 2 stage. I was looking to put this bolt action on there. There is a 200 price difference between the lightweight and the original, but i was hoping to see your follow up to help me make up my mind. I was online today and the lightweight is now back in stock.
Great vid. Looking at this from a budget build standpoint. They just had halloween sale where everything was 20% off. I should've snagged one. The area around recoil lug where it's recessed I agree is an issue. Maybe revisions will be made. Something I think Aero should be made aware of. Overall looks like a nice action and like that zermatt origin prefits will work with it. Thanks for the info!
@gregoryholliday6017 near impossible lol. I got a Solus 308 action, Woox Furiosa Ultra chasis, Triggertech Diamond pro curved trigger, Badger Ordnance Condition One MAX 34mm mount and a Primary Arms PLx 6-30 (I have a more appropriate 3-18 as well).I'm at around 4k so far
@@jahkristjanfari the Havak action seems like a better deal than the Solus because it is a switch barrel design. Seekins also provides the open source specs for the barrel tenons. That coupled with the fact that Seekins has had that action out in the field for a while now is a winner
@@plrodrig123 excellent points, thank you! the switch barrel feature is a major selling feature, though i wonder how often i would actually ever swap barrels? i dont know, still a great nice to have though
I have seen the action as cheap as 620. For that it's a deal. For 900 I would rather go with the origin or the ARC CDG. I have seen the complete chassis rifle for 1800, now that is also a killer deal.
#1. Isn't the interchangeable bolt head a feature on the Arctic Warfare? #2. This is probably nitpicking, but I think it's a little disappointing that the 1913 rail is integral, because MDT makes some really cool chassis systems that completely envelop the receiver. #3. Even bigger nitpick: I've kind of been turned on to DLC over nitride as the ultimate high-durability low-friction coating 😅
#2 my point exactly. I was holding to purchase a MDT Ess and throw a full rail hand guard on it but would need a taller scope base for it. Can’t do it with the solus
Did you assemble the action? If so, what barrel wrench did you use? I can't seem to get any response from AERO about which wrench is supposed to be use, and how.
I am a beginner and appreciate the detailed analysis instead of you reading me their marketing material.
Did you do a second video? Good video.
Thanks for the detailed overview, will be watching for part ll
I guess this didn't get the clicks...no part 2 that I can find
Great context, goin to the next video!
Just bought one for $725 from Northland Shooter Supply. Looked for part 2 video. Not seeing it anywhere.
I picked one up the other day for 650$! I’ll buy five more for that price and for what you get!
When’s part 2 coming out?!

These things should be done on a custom action, should they not?

When is Part II coming and what do you plan on discussing?
Yes.
Remindes me of the terminus Zeus action a lil bit.
How did you uncock it after turning it the wrong way?
Is the bolt knob removable? Is the bolt handle one piece with the bolt body?

Hope you got it on Black Friday, I paid 750 shipped for a barreled action.
@@InkwellFoto I’m broke. I couldn’t afford one even with the sale. Wish I had some funds I would’ve snagged a complete rifle for 1250

Can you give an update on this one?
It’s like tikka on inside. For $899 wow! Zermatt prefit available.
Did you ever post a follow up video to this review?
I have not yet, still plan to do it though.
are you able to compare the Solus action against the Seekins Havak action for $1200?
I don't have a Havak action handy. If I get one, I'll for sure update with a review.
This is a question I have as well. I'm 95% of the way sold on a Seekins Havak Hit, but want to see if the Solus sways me

But no “Left hand” Solus actions 😢
I have seen it for $1099.
