    This disection was quite fun to watch. Your enthusiasm for the experiment and love for the bike are contagious. Bravo! I don't miss that winter weather... Happy to be in SoCal.

    Awesome test, even more awesome transparency. A good amount of the damaged buts are more from the forced thaw it seems but inside the motor housing was a bit rough, but to be expected. Bravo for letting us see the results of such a brutal test. It says alot about your brand confidence!

      Because it the bike or the water wasn't moving for it to get in between and fully in the parts. Being frozen was what made it last rather than sitting in just water.

      @@dawhoda1 the motor sat in water and never really froze fully as shown in the video. Freezing and thawing ice moves water with way more force than just sloshing water around

    It's good news for the display biking more than "splash and dust resistant " but like to see inside the bafang motor hopefully their mid drives are sealed as their hub drives sire are not!

    The first battery that you tested and thought was dead. Chances are if you just leave it in for over 24 hours 48 hours it should bring it back. The BMS will cut it out like you said but after all the cells are charged enough it will turn it back on. Think they are individual pieces so it has to start from the back to the front to charge each one to optimal voltage. I've had this issue a few times on other battery packs

    My first thought was, why didn't you break the ice on the first day while it was still thin and shut the light off

  • @rayrussell6258
    @rayrussell6258 5 місяців тому

    I wish you would have done this test without using flame and tools/hammer to break the ice. It caused damage that flawed the natural results of moisture/freezing.
    However, I think even with flaws, you will learn a bit how to prevent moisture from seeping into components. That will provide a bigger margin of safety for consumers who need to operate ebikes in wet and/or freezing conditions. And also, a lot needs to be done to prevent battery corrosion, and potential runaway fires during recharging.
    Were you able to determine why the lights turned on? There would be no fix if the weight of solid ice pressed down on the switch. However, if there was material in the switch that contracted at different rates in colder temperatures, you may have to change materials to make them contract at the same rate.

    I'm a European ebike driver here, can anyone please explain to me why every American ebike driver is always on a fat bike?
    I'm riding 2' wide tires, which are here considered the biggest conventional tire, and have seen only one rider with a fat ebike.
    Are there no offerings for regular ebikes in the US, or do you all just want the fattest tires available?

      @Biktrix hehe well possibly clearer objective, was this to test the effects of freezing on the bike or to simulate being left outside like in a pond over winter, if true objective to freeze then plan better with the weather or have plan B indoor freezer, this turned inton more of a water test than a Freeze test per title. Maybe put bike in freezer next for some hours before pouring water and pour water in stages so it freezes quicker, anyway funny video 👍

      @@Planet-ICELAND the point of the video was to have some fun.
      Weather in Sask went through record breaking fluctuations last winter which wasn’t predicted by environment Canada.
      Using a freezer was an option but it would have made for a super boring video. We’d rather have a bit of fun with it.
