How many people remember how much hate this band got, especially from the music media? They were the greatest rock band on earth at that time, and their live performances (before Stapp had his issues) were extremely strong.
I always thought that it was a strange reaction, so many artists talk about their spirituality in their music, why Creed were singled out was a really indication of the coming cancel culture. ✌️
“With Arms Wide Open” is my favorite of their songs. Any father (or father-to-be) can relate. Scott Stapp also had a solo hit a few years ago called “Survivor”
Tears, this is one of the biggest songs in my life. In my 40's I found myself mobility disabled, which changed my life forever. It took a long time to adapt and to exchange one adventure for another, and this song was my anthem. The meaning of it changed through time from escape into a dream where I could walk and dance again to the reality of wonder in appreciating and having gratitude for things I am experiencing in a different way. I see things that others don't see, just because getting around is much slower. Basking in the sunlight or the rush of wind before a storm. Now this song is more like a victory anthem and indeed, if you can't take me higher i am just not interested any more.
Thanks for sharing that inspiring story. I'm wondering if you've ever heard "Best I Can" by Queensryche? If not you should definitely give it a listen as it's a bit relatable to what you're talking about. To me it's even more inspiring then this song here, even though I love both.
The end of the chorus says: Can you take me higher? To a place with golden streets In the New Jerusalem, not only are the streets gold, but so are the buildings, it is so big you can't see the walls from the center. In my vision, I was like 10,000 feet suspended above it, so I awoke to find out why I could not see the walls from that high, and in Revelation, the area of the new Jerusalem is equal to the square mile area of the State of Texas, and I remembered in 2013, when I had this vision, Rush Limbaugh's program from the 90s downplaying overpopulation on the Earth, saying you could fit 6 billion people into Texas and still have the rest of the Earth left over. In January 2001, my Uncle Jerry, who had polio because his Jehovah's Witness Parents would not vaccinate him, had a humped back his whole life, and in 2002, he was the first deceased relative Jesus allowed me to see in a vision, and in my vision, I am standing in a room full of people and I see a young man with a robin egg blue shirt on, and while I am listening to the conversation, I hear Uncle Jerry's voice, plain as day, and he said, "G, how are you doing?" and my family calls me "Gee" not George, and so I replied, not remembering he was dead, "I'm doing okay Jerry, how are you doing?" Uncle Jerry responded, "I'm doing fine!" and when I woke up, I realized in the vision, Uncle Jerry not only did not look like the 51-year-old man who had died, and looked like he was 21, but he was no hunched over with a hump in his back, he was whole! All you have to do to go to Heaven is repent of sin, believe Jesus is Lord/Yahweh and that he was raised from the dead, and be filled with his Holy Spirit so you are sealed for salvation! In 1990, my routine of working and school only left me two hours of sleep, and I survived one semester of it in 1989, but in 1990, it triggered an asthma attack that killed me. It was not my time, and God sent me back, but one thing that is hard about an NDE most testimonies don't cover only focusing on Heaven, is coming back to a world that is less than, because there is no death there, there is no sickness there, there is no fear there, it is full of love, and coming back was like coming back to something less than. My NDE really did take me higher, but when you come back here, the Earth does not have the fullness of Yahweh/God as Heaven does, and it seemed so empty and void and meaningless, except for the treasure, which is the loved ones you invest in to help make it there, and when I died in that asthma attack, I didn't ask Jesus for my life back, I simply thought of Mom, Dad, my brother & sister, my cousins that lived with us, my girlfriend, and I just thought, as I realized I could stay there forever, and have no need to go back, I thought, "I don't think they can make it without me" and look back with the maturity of 55 now, that I did not have at 22, I realized that Holy Spirit helped put that thought there, because when I did come back, everyone needed me more than I ever knew, so I am glad I did not leave them alone to struggle in life, but was allowed to come back and help all of them. So don't give up, you can be as whole and just as young as I saw my Uncle Jerry, and Colton Burpo told his Father upon coming back about Pops and not recognizing the picture of the Old Man that in Heaven everyone is young, no one is old, and when Todd found a picture of his Grandfather as a young man his Mother faxed him, 4-year-old Colton Burpo, said, "Yeah, that's him, that's Pops!" because he had seen his Grandfather in Heaven as a young man, not an old man! I never gave up on praying for Scott Stapp, because he brought his Christian faith into the music, and I loved him for that!
I feel the same as you after my stroke my whole life changed now I see things differently and time has slowed there's nothing to rush live and take it all in. Prayers from one survivor to another
I don’t care what anyone says. Creed rocked and they wrote amazingly catchy songs. I was a diehard Nirvana fan back in the 90’s but I had to tip my hat to Creed they crushed it on all levels. Haters will hate.
Creed was a highly underrated band. No one has quite the voice as this singer. Song messages are always on spot and awesome. They make you feel like there is somewhere that love and spirituality beat hate and evil once and for all.
I've always liked Creed. This song and Arms Wide Open are my faves! Critics gave them crap...but I thought they were a great band. A lot of the members are now in Alter Bridge. You should check them out! Love Blackbird! You would love Myles Kennedy's voice!!!❤❤❤
If you listen to the lyrics, he's talking about Heaven. "Can you take me higher? To a place where blind men see Can you take me higher? To a place with golden streets" This song has been in my workout playlist for a while now! Also, as others have said, 'With Arms Wide Open' is a great, moving song! You'll love it!
Always slays me listening to people trying to attach all these different meanings to their songs. I mean, if the lyrics aren't obvious enough, the Christ on the cross symbolism in the video should drive it home pretty decisively.
I was never a huge Creed fan, but Mark Tremonti is a monster guitarist with a really distinctive sound. The members of Creed, Tremonti, Phillips and Marshall formed another band called Alter Bridge with Myles Kennedy, who sang with Slash of GnR. If you like Creed I think you will like Alter Bridge. Check out “Open Your Eyes” or “Broken Wings”.
A lot of grunge snobs hated Creed and accused them of trying to be like Pearl Jam, which couldn’t be further from the truth. Then you just had haters that wanted to discredit them because they were a successful Christian band. All those haters would eventually jump on the hate train against Nickelback a few years later.
The difference is, I can actually understand Scott's lyrics as apposed to Eddie Vedder. I like pearl jam, but his enunciation was terrible. I had to look up the lyrics most times. Scott's diction is so much clearer. Creed is superior to pearl jam, IMHO.
This is my favorite song by Creed! Their songs are deep and sort of inspirational. This song reminds me of that because the place he describes in his dreams sounds like heaven…”a place where blind men see… a place with golden streets”! ❤❤
“I cry out to God seeking only His decision, Gabriel stands and confirms I’ve created my own prison” - some of the most powerful lyrics ever in a song!
Creed's first big hit in 1999, reaching #7 They had 4 Top 10s and one #1 ("With Arms Wide Open") I see them as the band, along with Limp Bizkit, that picked up the baton after Nirvana lost Cobain
The guitarist is Mark Tremonti who is also in Alter Bridge and Tremonti. He is one of the greatest guitarists in Rock and has a distinctive sound. I would recommend giving both bands a listen. Alter Bridge has a large discography at this point and some amazing hit songs.
My fav by them followed by, "Arms Wide Open" (original single) The memories of Summer '99 just come flooding back to me...with no idea we were on the cusp of an end of an era bigger than fears of "Y2K"✌🏼
When this song and video dropped in 1999, they were in constant rotation on the radio and on music tv stations. I remember seeing this video every day for a solid month it seems. I never got tired of hearing the song and seeing the video. I had never heard a song like this nor seen a video like this. Scott Stapp's voice was perfect for this song! It's just pure awesomeness!! That's all I know!
Exactly why the industry rejected this band! People can’t handle being a child of God and not an adult child that refuses to grow emotionally. These lyrics come by way of heartfelt life and all that it brings including our own sin
This album was great i loved each and every track, for a Christian post grunge band to draw me, an atheist, in like this is unbelievable. The lyrics transcend the religious base, and easily transfer into a secular sense of morality and experience.
Agreed. They were pegged as Christian, but I'm pagan and always found them to be amazing. They weren't overtly Christian though, they were no Stryper lol It's noticeable but not in-your-face. And there's nothing wrong with songs about our human flaws and wishing for a better world.
My favourite Creed song. I love What's This Life For and Faceless Man too. Their songs are full of meaning, Happy thoughts, dreams, inspiration, and you can also feel the pain ... the stories they tell are amazing. Wonderful ballads.
I remember Creed catching a little flack because they had a bit of a Pearl Jam feel. They're a great band anyway. Amber will love "With Arms Wide Open"
Agree with the others to do "With Arms Wide Open" next, since the subject matter will hit you both. Another suggestion which I haven't seen yet, is "Rain" which the band recorded on an album after they reunited. Also, any of Scott Stapp's solo work or the band Alterbridge, which is 3/4 of Creed and with Myles Kennedy on vocals. I love Creed so anything is great to me!
They were absolutely the biggest band on the planet for awhile!! You should also check out Scott Stapp's solo stuff and the rest of the bands' other group Alterbridge with Myles Kennedy singing lead!
Creed has a wonderful type of music between rock and religion . Great song to close your eyes and imagine getting to Heaven. Can you take me higher where blind man see, can you take me higher to a place with golden streets. ( Heaven )
Sweet. This is one of my all time favorite rock songs ever. Childhood memories unlocked. Creed was at the forefront of the late 90’s, early 2000’s post grunge rock scene. Y’all gotta check out their songs arms wide open, torn, what if, my own prison, what’s this life for & rain.
Creed songs were part of the sound tack of my life in the late 90s and early 2000s. The songs helped me get through a move to a new city and job. They still bring me a sense of comfort and nostalgia. 💙
I love Creed. I heard that the original members are talking about touring again sometime soon. That would be an awesome concert to see. Scott has one of those voices that just can't be ignored. Great reaction!
This was probably Creed's biggest commercial hit. They were more of an early 2000's band than the 90's. Amber, I'm pretty sure what Scott is singing about in "Higher" is Heaven. His spirituality is at the forefront of much his lyrics.
Really? There 1st Album My Own Prison was release originally in 1997. I was a senior in High School. They were playing a venue where I live that you had to be 18 to attend.
@@jasonwalker8324 Bands usually grind for years before they catch fire. You are right. They had some momentum going into the turn of the century. But that's when they really exploded.
IMO their most inspiring song, great hype, pre-game, and workout tune. Every time it ends you feel like you're floating on a cloud. Just gets you pumped up!
Gosh. I wish for you both to also feel the energy of them nd all of those present, LIVE. You will love it!! Thank you so much for listening to this one.
They are actually getting back together to tour with all original members. Should be awesome! The 3 members minus Scott Stapp are in another band called Alterbridge with Myles Kennedy. You should check out some Alterbridge.
This song means everything to me! I remember first hearing Higher when i was 15 years old and i really had a bad time....this song gave me so much energy and still to this day it does. There is power in the name of Jesus guys! God bless all of you!
But listen to this entire album, Human Clay, from start to finish. And then go get My Own Prison (Blue Collar edition) and soak it all in. Both are masterpieces.
My husband,, myself and my sons all time favorite bands! They are awesome in concert and each and every album/ CD, speak to your soul!! Can’t say enough about Mark Tremonti’s guitar playing, as well as the whole band! Great stuff, gotta do Scott’s song to his son, With Arms Wide Open, also, One, My Own Prison and anything from Full Circle!!!❤️
Excellent reaction Jay and Amber! Another karaoke favorite. This song is amazing. Scott Stapps vocals are so powerful on this one. Can you take me higher? He is calling out to God. Only God in heaven has golden streets. Do the same and everything will work out in the end. Call out to God through His Son Jesus Christ.
I have a lot of Creed, Great with Scott Stapp. And classics they put out, But nothing Creed did is comparable to the band and Myles Kennedy(Alter Bridge). All in all Scott had/Has a good voice.
Creed "ARMS WIDE OPEN" is a must!! It's about when he found out he was going to be a Father. ❤️ You will LOVVE it!
@@minnesota93
I looked in a search and don't see it on their channel.
@@minnesota93No,they didn't. They've done One Last Breathe, My Sacrifice and Higher. Jay literally says that at the beginning of the video.

How many people remember how much hate this band got, especially from the music media? They were the greatest rock band on earth at that time, and their live performances (before Stapp had his issues) were extremely strong.
Because they tried to say that they were a Christian rock band
Yes, I remembered. And I certainly don't understand why. Everyone loved them at first. Then crazy rumors circulated. It was so not right.
Because their lead singer is an idiot. And claimed a Christian group. Drugs and all. Much of it was their own doing.
I saw them as an opening act to NSYNC in 2002/03 and they were AMAZING, I love them

Fun fact, My Own Prison was the song they took around to get their first record contract. Great tune.

I love Creed. I heard that the original members are talking about touring again sometime soon. That would be an awesome concert to see. Scott has one of those voices that just can't be ignored. Great reaction!
Their is a rock cruise planned for April 2024. Praying they will tour after that! 😊
I hope they do get back together. They were the top band for a few years.
I love this song as well as with arms wide open,my sacrifice,so many others.
Next you have to do Creed "My own Prison".
my favorite Creed song, always love the duality of their songs. This says it best.
With arms wide open hit no.1
" With Arms Wide Open " is one of their best songs with a very special meaning.
I love this group
They are actually getting back together to tour with all original members. Should be awesome! The 3 members minus Scott Stapp are in another band called Alterbridge with Myles Kennedy. You should check out some Alterbridge.
They r awesome...I love this song..thanks for sharing! Great reaction 🔥🔥✌️
Awesome band awesome song writing
You gotta do With Arms Wide Open. It's a great power ballad and will melt Amber's heart due to the subject matter.
Love Creed
ROCKER!! 🤘🏻”With Arms Wide Open” is their Grammy winning song you guys have to check out next 🤩❤️
This song means everything to me! I remember first hearing Higher when i was 15 years old and i really had a bad time....this song gave me so much energy and still to this day it does. There is power in the name of Jesus guys! God bless all of you!
My Own Prison is my favorite song from Creed🤓
They are back. Saw them last night. Go before you can't. It's epic beyond words
Great rock band from the 90’s. Definitely recommend Arms Wide Open. Really glad you guys are enjoying some 90’s rock.
“What if” and “One” are also great songs
one one one one one
@@jameshickman8336 “the only thing is one “
I think this was probably their biggest hit
Maybe, unless you want to go with “With Arms Wide Open” which was their only #1 hit.

@@michaelvielhaber9342 I forgot about that one. I wasn't a big fan.
There are so many great songs by this awesome band.Keep on listening.🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶
Arms Wide Open by Creed u two need to react to
With Arms Wide Open, My Own Prison and Torn in that order, they are all outstanding! Keep up the great work Jay and Amber! Thankyou
Youll love One and My Own Prison. Creed just gets better
Love, love, love this song and video. My favorite.
But listen to this entire album, Human Clay, from start to finish. And then go get My Own Prison (Blue Collar edition) and soak it all in. Both are masterpieces.
What’s This Life For will always be one of my top 3 Creed songs
In my opinion Creed is one of the most underrated bands of all time. They are in my Top 5.
Oh brother you need to listen to more music.
First album: Torn, My Own Prison, In America, What’s this Life For, One. Second album: Literally every song. 3rd album: Bullets, Whose Got My Back Now
Awesome song!!
Full Circle is fantastic! Sounds more like Alter Bridge with Scott Stapp singing vs Creed with Miles Kennedy singing when Alter Bridge first came out.
Amen
I have a lot of Creed, Great with Scott Stapp. And classics they put out, But nothing Creed did is comparable to the band and Myles Kennedy(Alter Bridge).
All in all Scott had/Has a good voice.
