I just turned 80 last week and believe me, time goes by faster the older you get. My brain still feels like I'm 60 but the body wears out after all these years of use. Ha! I'm your age and feel the same way about this classic. But I just recently read how the lead vocals on Time are actually David Gilmour AND Richard Wright. Gilmour sings the verse leads, Wright sings the bridge leads. Wright always had an excellent singing voice and showed it throughout Dark Side of the Moon.
@user-kc2uh9hj8q My pleasure, that fact blew me away too! David Gilmour always had a fantastic voice, and Wright sounded a lot like him. That's both Gilmour and Wright sharing vocals on Us and Them. Consider this. The backing vocals in the later half of the song foreshadow the female vocalist that comes in in the next song on the album, "The Great Gig In The Sky." These guys put a lot of thought and musical skill into their music. The song "Time" is actually two parts. "Time" actually ends at 11:14. It is followed by the third verse of the song "Breathe". The tolling of the iron bell often associated with the church also foreshadows the next song, which was originally known as the mortality sequence. "The Great Gig In The Sky" is about the fear of death. The whole album's themes play on the band's fears, stress and pressures of being in a successful rock band. The song before "Time" is called "On The Run", and it is about the band's fear of flying and of course crashing. Interestingly enough the last song on The Floyd's last album in 1994, starts with a church bell, though its meaning has a twist to it.
@@helmutvogel901 It is referred to as Breathe (Reprise) and it is still the third verse to Breathe. Watch their Live 8 performance where they perform all three verses of Breathe.

I loved your reaction so much! It made me so happy to be like "just wait until you hear this part" in my head and then you would pause and talk about the same part 😂 thanks for sharing this with us.
Pink Floyd puts you in the mood they want you in for every song. They have long intros for just that reason. And you will get people telling you to never pause a solo or anything. You dont know when a solo is coming so ignore those people. We have heard these songs hundred of times we are here to see your reaction. Feel free to pause whenever you want and ask a question or give a comment. . Great reaction by the way.. There are a ton of Pink Floy fans who will watch this video. Look into the band Rush as well.. Another cult like following. Have a good one nd enjoy your journey. You will notice older songs lyrics have a lot more meaning then anything today.
I love Pink Floyd. This one song has been my guiding principle throughout my entire life. Time waits for no one and if you're asleep, life *will* pass you by. I've done great thing in my life. joined the Marine Corps, became an electrical engineer, a pilot, a database engineer, and now retired early, giving tours at the world's largest flight museum in the world. I never wanted to be that guy that that discovered 10 years have got behind you and no one told me when to run.
The instruments at the beginning are clocks - old mechanical clocks would make those sounds to specify the start of an hour, the end of the day etc, obviously tying in to the name and theme of the piece.
Great Reaction. Try Us & Them with lyrics off the same album...but this album is even better when played straight through all 10 songs, the album plays like one long song with 10 sections.
I was a student a long way from home when i was 20 and played the full album (vinyl back then) over and over every day... this song helped me realise i was wasting my life trying be what my parents wanted. I quit uni and decided to do what I wanted. 70 now, no regrets. Thankyou Pink Floyd
I been saying oh my goodness since about 1978. Then one day my uncles put me on the floor and gave me those giant headphones and introduced me to The Wall. It changed my life.
When i was a kid, this is the kind of music my dad loved. I liked this song back then but as i get older it makes more and more sense and really causes me to feel something unlike other music does.
This song hits a lot harder when you're old. The backup vocals (the ooh and ahh) in combination with the organ are majestic and they're all over the whole album. The very end of the song where it goes into another song is a callback to the song directly before Time called Breathe
Song starts with a heartbeat, its about how when young life seems eternal but as we age we realise time flys, like is fleeting and then we get old and die. Amazing progression .
50+ years since the album was released! Glad you found them, you'll want to listen to the Dark Side of the Moon from beginning to end in one sitting, or side a/b as the album was intended to be heard! Don't chop up and randomly play a song from this album, it was a "concept album" which is to say it was meant to be sat down and listened to from start to end. Glad you had the emotional reaction, glad you read the lyrics.
Their music is pure and timeless. I was 15 when this album was released, and it's like fine wine, getting better with age. No album or recorded piece of music has, or will ever likely be on the charts,(18 years total)as long as the Dark Side of the Moon. China should of left a copy when they landed their craft there.
100,000 years from now, aliens will be having the same reaction as this guy did. Instead of the generic "sounds of the Earth" disc that was attached to each Voyager spacecraft, they should have replaced it with a copy of Dark Side.
Here's the crazy thing. Pink Floyd makes concept albums. They are very thematic and one song often flows seamlessly into the next. Try listening to this album all at once, beginning to end, and notice how it takes you on a journey. It's why this album was in the top 100 for 900 weeks!
My personal preference is the “Delicate Sound of Thunder” performance. The back and forth “call and response” solo with David Gilmore and Scotty Page, the closeup camera work. I feel it is a more intimate concert. Don’t get me wrong Pulse is on another level is scale and scope. I was at both, but the videography is DSOT is masterfully shot.
The time is gone, the song is over, thought Id something more to say..... I remember as a teenager in the 70s listening to this. Understanding that the end of the song is about the church bell, a funeral mass.... And still....i did what i thought other people wanted me to do in life and drifted along thru my 20's. Amazing. If your young, follow your heart.

One of the 3 or 4 best guitar solos of all time
Pink Floyd puts you in the mood they want you in for every song. You will notice older songs lyrics have a lot more meaning then anything today.
im sixty four. I am so glad you have discovered my favorite band. I used to go to sleep listening to them. David Gilmour is a God.
Jamoris, know you can understand why Pink Floyd has been my favorite band since the early 70's. Over 55 years now! Enjoy more PF!
gotta listen to that whole album in one sitting. It's like getting your first kiss
I really loved that genuine reaction to that specific song.
This song will, ironically, never die with time. Unique and inspirational.
It's been sampled so much because of the greatness of PF!!!!
Same ❤
I been saying oh my goodness since about 1978. Then one day my uncles put me on the floor and gave me those giant headphones and introduced me to The Wall. It changed my life.
I felt that
Comfortably Numb lying on your back in the dark with headphones, maybe fifteen times in a row.
@@fluxrider7027 The whole album 15 times in a row.
@@86crud I bow to your superior judgment. 🙂
@@fluxrider7027 😂 😂 😂
When i was a kid, this is the kind of music my dad loved. I liked this song back then but as i get older it makes more and more sense and really causes me to feel something unlike other music does.
This song hits a lot harder when you're old. The backup vocals (the ooh and ahh) in combination with the organ are majestic and they're all over the whole album. The very end of the song where it goes into another song is a callback to the song directly before Time called Breathe
The beginning of the song has 12 steps (gongs). They represent the 12 numbers on the clock. After the 12th gong, the vocals come in.
NICE! Thank you for that, I did not know this.
Very emotional song. I think we all feel this one every time we hear it. And the guitar solo compliments it well
Song starts with a heartbeat, its about how when young life seems eternal but as we age we realise time flys, like is fleeting and then we get old and die.
Your reactions are priceless. It's beautiful to see another soul "get it".
You’re going to love Pink Floyd. They are that good. They do alot that you wouldn’t expect. So many great songs to experience. Enjoy the journey!
What an amazing song. Hats off to the backup singers in this, killing it
This song is like an existential threat to the soul
Pink floyd was so ahead of thier time the music the words best band ever been listening to pink floyd since the 1970s best music ever
Now that you’ve listened to TIME, please check out the LIVE version of Time from the PULSE CONCERT. They are incredible live.
People in their late 60's and 70's this was the kind of music they listened to.
This band made songs that were too long to be played on radio. One reason why we loved them
Yeah, they simply didn't conform to the Producer standard of three minute songs for hits on the radio. They didn't have time for that nonsense.
Nice that you appreciated the lyrics, PF music is so awesome it's easy to ignore them the first time you hear a song!
Great to watch you feel this song so much. One of the best songs by one of the best bands of all time. Enjoy the journey with Pink Floyd.
Best Band of all times 😎👍🎶🎶
It made me cry watching you discover this epic song. Your appreciation of the lyrics is what got me the most.
