Thank Doug for the film breakdown. That last interception by Tua, I still don’t understand it. I seen him live make a perfect throw on that same route to Tyreek against Washington. His inconsistency kills me.
Defenses are guarding areas where Miami tends to throw. Basically taking that away. No adjustments besides check down and bubble screens. Suspect there may be larger issues with consistently throwing other passes. Office looks hugely limited
@dustinstella6656 Usually, Tua has enough arm strength to make most throws on most levels of the field, but this year his arm looks weaker. It's true Tua lacks elite arm strength and is not a guy who can make late throws on deep outs or throw a deep ball late.
@dustinstella6656 Also, defenses are playing a lot of two-deep safeties/2 high shells to take away the deep ball/vertical game, whether they are playing Cover 2 man, Cover 6, or Cover 4, and even Cover 3/Tampa Robber. You have to run the ball effectively in order to get them out of the two high shell, and get them to commit a safety in the box, forcing the defense into single high, and we could not do that vs HOU. Mahomes (a big arm QB) and the Chiefs offense had to rely on dink and dunk, underneath plays and screens because of the amount of two high looks they were facing and the Chiefs really stopped being one of the most explosive offenses under Andy Reid. That's football.
Notice how Buffalo plays us, they give us an illusion sidelines and deep ball is open / once ball gets snapped they realign. Why do they do that easy answer they know Tua not that guy. He looks for his scripted reads rather than read the field so teams like Buff Ravens Texans 49ers know that. You can’t do that to a Pat or JA because those guys actually read and hit guys
@@iafigueroa91 Allen faces 2 high all the time as well but he can make plays off-structure and take advantage of breakdowns. That's where his big plays come from. Doug, let me help you out. I’ve been watching football for 50 years. You could come up with all kinds of schemes and trick plays with Finesse but if you can’t match up against your opponent physically, ultimately you will lose the game. Then, if you can match up physically, you have to run the ball and on defense stop the run. Ultimately this has not changed in years. Our GM built this team playing chess and finesse. that’s why we are fun to watch against bad teams and our heartbreak against the physical ones. Houston is not a good team, but they were physical. So when Mike McDaniel runs out of his magic ultimately we have to go back to basics and play Smash Mouth until defenses. Adjust to that.
You should have close to zero pressures with quick trigger scheme. Maybe it works but McDaniel did not get a chance to build from scratch. But a team that doesn't include a running game, play action passing, and deep passing is suspect.
Two high safety to take away the deep ball, but they also don’t even need to stack the box because the OL is SOOO BADD. The offense needs the run game to work which is averaging 3 yards a carry. I’d bet any amount of money anyone wants to give me for this bet that if we had better OL then the offense would look completely different.
This is why I keep telling you stats are misleading regarding Tua and this article proves that point: Tagovailoa leading the NFL with the lowest average depth of target at 6.0 yards. When he's had to pass deep, he hasn't been nearly as efficient. Per PFF, on throws 10 or more yards downfield, Tagovailoa has completed 56-of-103 passes for 1,105 yards, six touchdowns, and six interceptions with a passer rating of just 87.24. The screen game also boosts a large chunk of Tua's production. Per PFF, Tua has completed 71-of-76 screen passes just this season for 465 yards, six touchdowns, and zero interceptions. It's a credit to McDaniel and his coaching staff for drawing up all of these creative screens, but their numbers drastically inflate Tagovailoa's production.
Grier has not done his job for far too long. He keeps looking for the "diamond in the rough" on the Oline and not drafting or signing guys with the clear skills needed. We have one pro-bowl-caliber offensive lineman (Armstead) and he's about to retire and gets injured all the time. Why do the Dolphins continually put a patchwork Oline out there, hoping it will work week after week, year after year?
To me it's not all about winning and losing it's all about keeping yourself entertained and enjoying it. Yes, sometimes it does hurt seeing your team looses but at the end of the day it's just a sport to keep people entertained and enjoy life.
The way to beat the defense being played against them you must. 1 run the ball which they can’t because their line is trash and 2 throw deep out which they can’t because tua doesn’t have time to throw or the arm to get it there
Doug I notice that when the starting lineman go down Tua has Happy feet . He already has on 2 sec to throw. He panics . I.e tittans game . Tua feels like he has to do to much to overcome the O line issues.
Hopefully the new head coach opts to keep Weaver. He’s had a few ups and downs but has insane potential with some continuity and better depth on this defense
The NFL put a rule change in effect just before the beginning of the season, which farked an entire offseason of play design and messed with the older plays as well. The motions that the Dolphins were using was reduced. Nothing about the Tush Push. Just to Fark teams with significant motion in their plays. So - we have to change the way the offense was designed and how we play. Nothing more than that.
Ultimately. The big guys up front win football games and championships... The rest os dressing. We don't have those guys (defo oline). Rushing 3 getting to the qb. Unacceptable. We might look good from time to time. Long term. Obvious disappointment.
@27:40 , just a TERRIBLE read and throw. Mike McDaniel just HAS to say tyreek ran the wrong route because he CANT in NO WAY shape or form , bring down tuas confidence
Tua should never throw a ball over the middle again😂😂 look at hills 2 catches and look when TUA throws the ball. Hill is not open. It s called anticipation. Is Jonu smith open on the 4th down TD when TUA throws it? No. It’s called anticipation. When u have short midget WR’s who rely on speed and there is a small window WR has to be there.
I’ve noticed this year that Tyreek is rounding out routes and being out of position. I understand that he isn’t know for being the best route runner but we are paying him to be and he’s relying on his speed (which he’s lot a step). Bad qb decisions, bad line play and depths, bad coaching with adjustments and clock management, penalties, and wide receivers are not running crisp routes. But these are the players and coaches we paid in the offseason
So I coach defensive backs in college. This defensive secondary has been stressing me out all year they just look lost every game. I love Javon holland he is so much better than he’s been playing
I told you before the season started, defenses have figured out if you take Tua's 1st read away he panics and becomes useless. Its why Tua throws so many checkdowns. He cant read defenses post snap. How many times do i have to point out this fact.
Watching the Houston their front four was knifing through the interior of the Dolphins o line….. this offense is predicated through the running game this is the shanahan offense it relies on a strong running game. Teams are dropping there safeties deep.
Save your breath doug. The answer to the thumbnail is YES!!! Ya might've been able to write me off last season as negative nancy when i said fire everyone but its just a fact now. McDaniel cant make adjustments cuz he doesn't know how. His best football is behind him its only downhill from here.
This is the product of Spot Throwing. He's not actually reading the defense. When spot throwing works, he looks like a top rated QB. When it doesn't work he looks below average. When it matters the most he looks below average more because competent defense's aren't going to be anxious when they know that you're spot throwing. They can't make adjustments because Tua isn't reading defenses either because he doesn't have the ability to which is a huge problem or the offensive playbook just simply doesn't have a plan B. It was all fun and games when they're running up the score on unorganized defenses but there's too many excuses being made when they face reality against a good defense. There's a reason why the Dolphins haven't won a playoff game in 25 years. Calling people haters and clowns for criticizing this team and this quarterback is ridiculous. Our fans look like the real clowns for all the excuses we make every year. Taking accountability is a huge issue with this orginization and fan base. It's getting really exhausting.
Hey Doug!!!! I didn't hear you mention a QB search. 1:14 Why not? You have been saying that every year, Tua needs to stay healthy. Tua needs to improve. He hasn't stayed healthy except one year... I've watched you since you were posting in your car during your lunch breaks way back in the day... waiting here
you know doug.. watching your video if you really see good teams... and they are like covering everthing in the middle,,, great olines and running games exploit that and two teams do it best are the eagles and 49ers
That defense is call an inverted 2 and they called it a lot that game. That one play where the safety doesn’t even move and gets an interception tells you just how predictable tua and the offense have got
@@DouglieDoWronghe's not going to thrive in anything brother time to let him go he folds like a folding chair every year and panics against good teams but that's okay if it takes you another 5 years for you to realize this maybe you shouldn't be a football analyst bro
I've been saying that defenses figured out the offense 2 years ago. They are jumping routes and not playing honest. This has lead to them losing late in the season.
Question Doug if a possible completion to hill for 12-15 yards is a dumb pass than why? Still ❤ the show but that interception was Hills fault. Not enough criticism is warranted on hill. Just an observation on many Dolphins podcasts. Have a great day.
Doug great work with your videos my man. Unfortunately you’re 100% correct, defenses have figured out Mike McDaniel. This offense is actually offensive to watch. Total hot garbage against quality opponents, time and again. Tua also has a tendency to force a lot of throws in the direction of THill. How on earth is Grier with a straight face telling fans not to worry about the O-Line? Does Chris Grier watch Liam and Robert Jones get pushed back 2-3 yards on almost every down? Cameron is another one, not a starter. 🤦
My 40+year relationship with the Dolphins is the most abusive relationship I've ever been a part of. I always expect them to let me down and basically they've killed my love of football. I even had 5 years of season tickets and never missed a minute of even preseason games. I really wish I could move on, but I can't quit them. 😢
In answer to your question, YES and NO. On 1st and 2nd down lots of cover 2 and cloud coverage, on third down lots of pressure with only 3 or 4 lineman means that we can't let plays develop. This is fixable with a............drum roll............a OL that is league average.
Man, needing the Oline addressed has been a theme for the last 10 years with this team. Just imagine what a QB could do with time and a run game to open up the deep routes. That quote from Grier about us fans/media being more worried about it than they are is aging well … Yes; Tua is great at getting the ball out in less than 2 seconds, but this is why you can’t beat playoff caliber teams.
I knew Doug wouldn’t get that last interception. Sure he should have led him more. But tyreek had both hands on the ball. You grab it and turn your body away from the defender. Not pull it straight down. That was on tyreek.
Definitely, yes. There was a play where Texans rush 2 against 5 Phins blockers and they still committed a holding penalty. Shouldn’t you call a run play? Can you pass successfully with 9 pass defenders with 2 rushers? It seems their OL consists of big, slow, unathletic, lineman trying to block leaner, faster D lineman that can easily avoid the blocks. How many times have you seen defenders make tackles unblocked? Yes Tua had a bad game but maybe the pressure of carrying the team in spite of all the things working against him finally caused him to crack. On the TD play to Jonnu, you said that’s the Tua we need. Correction, that’s the OL blocking we need. We have that Tua. He just cannot be the Tua we need because he doesn’t have time to allow his fast WRs to get open where Tua can throw to. Imagine an offense that gives him that much time to throw. Phins would easily be contenders.
When you basically run 4 plays, with different motions all game long......Not too hard to figure out. Hey look!!! They're throwing it behind the line of scrimmage AGAIN. Imagine that. When I watch a Dolphins game, then any other game, it's daylight and dark between the difference of offensive play. Totally different style than any other team, and I don't mean in a good way. Very predictable offense, from the offensive "genius".
Proud to say that Mcdaniels isn't no Mcgenius. Defenses has figured out Mcdaniels offense. Not only that, mcclown doesn't know how to make in game adjustments. He's not ready to be headcoach. He soft and made the team soft as well. Pretty sure Mike vrabel would do alot better as head coach and leader for this team. Also drafting a legit qb who can take over when fragile tua is out. We all know he's one concussion away from playing football again. So dolphins need to draft a qb.

During the broadcast the announcer was saying they should be doing double moves on their routes because they kept biting on them.
The way to beat the defense being played against them you must. 1 run the ball which they can’t because their line is trash and 2 throw deep out which they can’t because tua doesn’t have time to throw or the arm to get it there
Thanks for showing that it wasn't ALL on 1 guy , was a hard rewatch
Doug I notice that when the starting lineman go down Tua has Happy feet . He already has on 2 sec to throw. He panics . I.e tittans game . Tua feels like he has to do to much to overcome the O line issues.
They figured out that our offensive guards couldn't move air off the the line of scrimage
25:00 the out is wide open. He’s too weak armed and stupid. Such trash
7:48 this time TUA should have stepped up in the pocket, the blocking was actually ok if he would have stepped up in the pocket.
Think we need more size on edges to run offense properly
Short answer: Yes defenses have figured our offense out
Ultimately. The big guys up front win football games and championships... The rest os dressing. We don't have those guys (defo oline). Rushing 3 getting to the qb. Unacceptable. We might look good from time to time. Long term. Obvious disappointment.
Yes.
DDW I heard the Defense Coach was horrible for calling the plays on D-line and that's why the Ravens organization got rid of the D-coordinator
@8:12 he doesnt make that throw on the run. he has an average to below average arm he needs to set his feet for that throw
@27:40 , just a TERRIBLE read and throw. Mike McDaniel just HAS to say tyreek ran the wrong route because he CANT in NO WAY shape or form , bring down tuas confidence
We see what happens when his confidence is low 😂
even if that was the case Tua should not have thrown the ball
@@iec7587 tua not READING , he just spot throwing that specific play 🤦♂️
@@iec7587 tua BEEN throwin those INTS since rookie year 🤷♂️
Tua should never throw a ball over the middle again😂😂 look at hills 2 catches and look when TUA throws the ball. Hill is not open. It s called anticipation. Is Jonu smith open on the 4th down TD when TUA throws it? No. It’s called anticipation. When u have short midget WR’s who rely on speed and there is a small window WR has to be there.
Great Knock Knock joke. ... Hahaha
Yes
The offense relies on teams being fooled which good teams dont do and nor will teams late in the season. Fins rarely run high percentage pass plays.
He doesn’t have the arm strength Doug!!! 😂😂😂 34:08
Yes they have!!!!!!
Hill zig zagging all over the field when if they just throw him a bubble screen pass he gets 20 yards.
Thanks Doug I'll never leave my dolphins been with them since I was 7 now 60 ride or die 🏈🏈🏈🐬🐬🐬🐬
Save your breath doug. The answer to the thumbnail is YES!!! Ya might've been able to write me off last season as negative nancy when i said fire everyone but its just a fact now. McDaniel cant make adjustments cuz he doesn't know how. His best football is behind him its only downhill from here.
Dolphins are going nowhere as long as Tua is their franchise QB. 5 years of absolutely nothing. Bust
This is the team u get more hurt and worried about then being happy making playoffs
36:09 RT should never play for them again knowing that big of a mistake could cost Tua his career
I've watched you since you were posting in your car during your lunch breaks way back in the day... waiting here
@@chrislocke1042 I have when he got hurt lol apparently ya missed it
We only have 2 problems--offense and defense.
you know doug.. watching your video if you really see good teams... and they are like covering everthing in the middle,,, great olines and running games exploit that and two teams do it best are the eagles and 49ers
That defense is call an inverted 2 and they called it a lot that game. That one play where the safety doesn’t even move and gets an interception tells you just how predictable tua and the offense have got
Doug, If teams have figured out McDaniels..Do you think Tua can thrive under another system or another coach?
Yup
@@DouglieDoWronghe's not going to thrive in anything brother time to let him go he folds like a folding chair every year and panics against good teams but that's okay if it takes you another 5 years for you to realize this maybe you shouldn't be a football analyst bro
Ancient Dolphin fans say yes....
They should hire this guy 😂
Yaaaa think???
I've been saying that defenses figured out the offense 2 years ago. They are jumping routes and not playing honest. This has lead to them losing late in the season.
Mcdonalds figured out mikes offensive game plan
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again - fire McD, hire Doug.
That’s exactly what happened.. you see the 49ers in the same boat smh
In answer to your question, YES and NO. On 1st and 2nd down lots of cover 2 and cloud coverage, on third down lots of pressure with only 3 or 4 lineman means that we can't let plays develop. This is fixable with a............drum roll............a OL that is league average.
Not just that they know we got alot of 2 d and 3rd string on the field so they can beat them... but they have figured his scheme
The defenses have figured out a screen play every other play. Not very difficult. The guy can't call a play anymore, he is seeing ghosts.
Man, needing the Oline addressed has been a theme for the last 10 years with this team. Just imagine what a QB could do with time and a run game to open up the deep routes.
That quote from Grier about us fans/media being more worried about it than they are is aging well …
Yes; Tua is great at getting the ball out in less than 2 seconds, but this is why you can’t beat playoff caliber teams.
👍 yup, isn’t it obvious……
Doug tua had an average of 4 secs per throw. The offense is designed for 2. Most of his sacks were 6 or 7 secs.
Where did ya get your information cause he is ranked 50th with 2.31 TTT
When you basically run 4 plays, with different motions all game long......Not too hard to figure out. Hey look!!! They're throwing it behind the line of scrimmage AGAIN. Imagine that.
When I watch a Dolphins game, then any other game, it's daylight and dark between the difference of offensive play. Totally different style than any other team, and I don't mean in a good way. Very predictable offense, from the offensive "genius".
Hey Doug your supposed to make a video right now after broncos lost we got a chance we need broncos lost next week to ravans VS kc
Doug, Are we still more worried about the offensive line then they are? 😅
