    $35 is asking a lot for a game that has a great vision and concept but is frankly a s**t storm. A lot of Early Access games are rough around the edges, but this here is a different story entirely. I spent my $35 so you don't have to! Love Reggie xxx

      Pax Dei, is another title you may wanna check out in early access with a rather high price point $39.99 for the game and 2 founder packs one at $59.99 the other at $99.99. The trailers and game look real nice in screenshots but the lack of any other titles from the dev and I get red flag warning senses when looking at it in general.

      You know I understand the critiques of this being a highly priced Ealy access game but to compare it to BG3 and hades 2 is kinda unfair considering they are from well established developers with multiple successful title under there belts. I agree with your statement about need to critique the game if it's asking for your money to see if it's worth the investment but do you not consider it takes money to improve the game? And yes performance is an issue an has been noted and is in the works to be addressed. I am only playing devil's advocate because as someone who started my career studying professional meteorology (storm chasing) considering this is using actual model data I see this as an impressive recreation. And want to emphasize that yes this is a first day blues. I agree there is alot it needs to address from performance to better tutorials but considering what it has with a new small dev studio which only came around to develop this game so far and has been around for the existence of this game. I think critiques are necessary but a bit heavy handed on this. Besides this game seems more developed for the storm chasing community than the video game community in my opinion. I do enjoy your review though and hopes it gives them the drive to fix these part they lack in on this game.

      Very kind words mate, and very fair critique. The point you raise that wasn’t really made really clear in the video when comparing to Baldurs Gate 3 and Hades 2 was how the channel doesn’t shit on early access for the sake of it. In fact I probably should have used other examples, in particular where one or two people developed an early access game and where the results were still amazing.
      Braid. Stardew Valley. Phasmophobia. Bodycam to name some top of my head. So it’s not so much about comparing a small studio with a tiny development team to those big hitters that I used in my video, but rather saying “hey… early access games, even when made by just one or two people can still be highly polished so we need to judge a $35 asking price in that context”.
      That’s my fault for not making that point much clearer in how I explained it. It’s more than fair and reasonable in how you viewed that point so appreciate you sharing and most importantly being reasonable in your view. Cheers to you mate 🍻

      @@TheSUPERWIND2023 Why bother looking at this game if you're not looking for realism. Something all simulator players have been wanting. A storm in a storm chasing game not producing a tornado all the time is realistic.
      But based on your logic games are not supposed to be realistic and are more about giving you an immediate dopamine hit. In other words "Realism doesn't belong in gaming. If you want realism do it IRL".
      Despite the fact people like you are f**kin hypocrites.
      You're always complaining that your COD is not realistic enough. You want it to be so realistic that you get PTSD from playing it. And just like that we're back to where we started, "At that point I would just enlist in the military and do it IRL", lol.

    Okay, my turn to chime in.
    As a degreed meteorologist who happens to chase storms, for an early access title with two developers working tirelessly over nearly 4 years to get this up and running, I'm not overly-disappointed.
    While there are some bugs (which is to be expected early in the title's lifecycle), it is indeed playable, but I may have a bit of a biased view as I'm running top-notch hardware.
    Yes, I had a few of what seemed to be lag spikes, but this could be related to shortcomings and refinement points in the netcode perhaps, so I'm not going to grill too hard on that topic. Thirty five USD is about what I pay for a tank of fuel to chase real-life storms, and I'm confident they are putting that revenue toward the future development of the game. I can't gripe about that either.
    Real-life chasing is rather devoid of enticing visuals aside from the storms, often taking place in 'mapdot' style towns, so the 'featureless' comment is accurate...and is a representation of life in the field doing this.
    I do believe that most are confusing this title as a 'game', while in fact, it is designed to be a simulator, which is clearly represented in the description. There is a lot to offer in this title and a lot more coming, so perhaps it would be prudent to reserve such harsh judgements for when the title is in a full-release state. It's a rather complicated undertaking and so far, the devs have done a pretty solid job. I'm excited to see where this goes in the future with some polish!
    Try lowering the graphics to high or medium, as this was incorporated as a sort of 'future-proofing' for the title. I tried this as well and it worked very well with zero degradation in graphics quality or integrity.

      Yes, as a storm chaser, I think this is worth the price. They have put together quite the engine to start with. I'm looking forward to improvements in driving... I'm wondering if they could have a novice and pro mode. In pro mode, you would have a slower pace, have to do a bit of forecasting to choose your region. You would also be able to have more choice on where you would be able to place your vehicle before storms form. For this you would need a larger map of course.
      Great opening effort! Looking forward to what they develop to improve the sim even more.

      The radar products leave a little to be desired for me. It is apparent that the storms themselves have the bulk of the work put towards them, and that does show very clearly in these early stages, but the map design feels almost like an afterthought. On ramps and off ramps that make no sense, highways that terminate at a bump in the road towns edge forcing me do drive around the town to pick back up the highway on the other side. A massive mountain that’s easily a five plus minute drive around in the western section of the map where I have seen a lot of the tornado genesis occurring. Forcing me to either get a short look at the tornado before it hits that mountain or drive around and risking it roping out before I can intercept. I’ve played about ten hours now and I haven’t even seen the eastern half of the map because there’s never a storm over there (in my play so far). A thirty five dollar price tag and ten hour of gameplay later and I’m still at my current pace another twenty to thirty hours away from making real vehicle progression. I have high hopes they will improve the gameplay but as it stands I can’t justify spending my little free time playing this right now.

      Even if I look at it as a simulator instead of a game, it makes all immersion go out the window when I see the exact same scenario and the same storms for the N-th time, sometimes in a row. They really need to get some randomization working so you can at least play for longer than the refund window before you run out of content to experience.

      as a former air force meteorologist i think the game is fantastic in concept but its going to take time to flush out the details and make it look good. the controls are simple and it resembles many other simulator type games. i get so excited when im able to see and predict things that are going on. ive only played solo but ive had a blast. im also playing on an msi laptop with a 3060 gpu and an intel i7 11800h if i fiddle with the settings i can get it to run great at medium and i can have the cloud textures on max which i fell is a necessity as its very difficult to discern details in the clouds. i have been playing almost 5 hours and i havent experienced lag almost at all. its been a pretty smooth experience. i was disappointed however when i tried to walk up stairs on a random building but they were blocked by an invisible wall. in total i will absolutely continue to play and for people with a significant interest or prior knowledge of storms and atmospheric dynamics i would recommend investing in this game. i think the $35 price tag is a bit high but not unreasonable. if we want the best product it absolutely helps to financially support the devs. i want people to get that feeling like sam sparks from cloudy with a chance lol

    Clever and witty review! Sure OUTBRK isn't perfect but it's a start. I can first start by telling you I have no ties to this game or the developers by any means other than I was a backer and a tester for the game. I was asked if I wanted to do a quick spot of "this will be worth so many points" for the tutorial and I said yes pressed record and sent 3 shitty versions of me saying that the best I could "act" it out. The reason why I am so passionate about this project is because I have been chasing storms since 2011 IRL. There isn't anything that has come close to this so for me it's a different experience when you have the passion. As a outside gamer I can see where you are coming from, some sims I play I tend to forgive a lot of these things because of the gameplay element I am looking for. I totally agree with a lot of these points. The game is expensive for an early access game, the performance leaves MUCH to be desired, and the graphics could use some work… THAT being said, as an avid weather enthusiast and storm chaser, this is the best storm chasing game I have ever played. Not because of any of those reasons above, but because of the skill needed to predict a storm by looking at the data, make quick decisions based on that data, and be “safe” while doing so.
      There is not a large market for storm chasing games, and because of that I feel the need to give some leeway to this early access game and what it has provided so far. It needs a lot of work most definitely, but I really do like the realistic aspect of you may have an amazing chase, or you come up with zip. In real life, that is a very very very real feeling.
      It needs work; a LOT of work. But as it stands now, I’d definitely argue it has the potential to become something amazing, and has already provided some things more than any chasing game.

      Fair enough. But I can get that real knowledge without paying $35 for it. I think they could have helped out new players with a better tutorial but honestly you just wouldn't have enough time to explain what a player needs to know to play well. It's a heck of a simulator and the weather systems are wildly realistic. I just don't think it's going to be for the faint of heart when it comes to new players. There's going to be a very high learning curve like Tarkov in the extraction shooter world. New players are going to have to learn from their failures.

    • @BulseyeHeart
      @BulseyeHeart 23 дні тому

      @@sunnyjim1355 You said yourself, weather is chaotic. The developers have said that if they wanted to create dynamic weather, it would pretty much destroy your pc because the way the models are ran are very hefty. It would be different if they got rid of most of their selling points, but as it stands now, dynamic weather isn't going to be in the game for a while. They do plan on rotating the models out to make it more dynamic, which is not completely what everyone wants, but cut them some slack. 2 developers making this entire simulation as well as they can with the resources they have is amazing, regardless of your opinion.

    Hello! Sorry to hear you had a negative experience while playing the game. I just want to say that I have spent a lot of time with these devs and they are definitely extremely passionate about the project! They've been spending all day yesterday and today working on fixes for issues people were experiencing and have big plans for the future. This definitely isn't some cash grab that was cobbled together in 5 minutes. Servers seem to be working a lot better now and it should continue to improve as these patches get implemented. Personally, I enjoy the game quite a bit, I think it is currently the highest fidelity simulation of weather that you can experience right now, but I understand your frustration.
    I hope to see you back soon for a re-review once the kinks get ironed out and the full vision the developers have for this game becomes realized!

      You or no one else needs to apologise for making a game and trying to give us consumers joy. Look, this is just a critical review of one persons opinion, and on the flipside people are taking my reviews every time I release one and critique them no end saying they are a load of crap! It’s part and parcel of what I chose to do!
      As you say, I don’t believe it’s a cash grab, and nor do I think some of the early issues will be present moving forward (like the server connection).
      As noted early on, my only goal is to review a game based on the value proposition and where it’s at right now. Hades 2 is a great example of that. My feeling is if this was launched at $10 and then gradually went higher as we approached 1.0, then it’s a much fairer value proposition.but at $35 with all of its issue and missing features, it’s a hard pass for now. But I’ve seen other content creators say quite the opposite!
      And 100% I’ll do a re-review once we hit 1.0! It’s absolutely the fairest and most honest way to review any early access game.
      Thank you for the comment, cheers 🍻

    I don’t think you guys understand the amount of programming it takes to get the cloud system to behave realistically based of radar images. I gladly paid the 35 bucks just because I’m not ignorant to the hard work it takes to program a sim like this. Aestetics are useless if the main core of the game is crap. Eventually I’m confident they will pretty it up as well as iron the performance issues. It just launch.

    • @cockneygamer
      @cockneygamer  Місяць тому +2

      In the nicest possible way to the developers, just because something is hard to do doesn’t instantly mean it should get a high score and therefore your money. You have to judge an early access game like you would any other early access game, especially one that is $35.
      No man’s sky received an absolute beating on its release… yet the developers clearly worked hard on creating that universe. But they now reap the rewards and accolades as they kept pushing the game up to the standards expected of a full priced game.
      No one here is saying they haven’t worked hard on Outbrk. No one is saying that the cloud development based off radar images isn’t interesting or impressive. But translating that into a game that’s fun and entertaining is the skill they need to show most. Otherwise, the very medium of game design shouldn’t have been their chosen path, and instead they should have created a simulator online with a paid service to educate people. But if gaming is your chosen avenue then I’m afraid that’s how it going to be judged by game reviewers. There are lots of simulators in this space that achieve good scores because the simulator that runs in the background is still met by a great game. I’m only giving my opinion based on this asking for a $35 tag… which for me is insane given the product received.

      There are multiple games on Roblox that achieve the same level of accuracy and complexity of the storm system in this game. Maybe it’s just because I played two games of it and got the exact same scenario both times, but I didn’t notice the weather being any more complex than Twisted’s weather system. Unless I couldn’t find them, there were way more thermodynamics in twisted and twisted has more detailed hodographs. That’s all free. This game also didn’t have any more radar feeds than twisted.

    • @shul5684
      @shul5684 Місяць тому

      @@jpscientist23 well you are playing twisted cause it’s free. As most people do. This game needed money to start. If I read correctly it was in dev for 4 years with backers money. I’m not sure how long it will take for them to sort things out but my guess on the price is, this is not a popular field to begin with. A sim about it won’t have the same traffic as those FPS games so therefore not many would be willing to get into it. So I would think they put a high price on it to compensate for the lack of users willing to play it to begin with. I mean I spend 15 bucks on a burger. I didn’t have a problem with the 35 because I know it will get more updates. I already played like 7 hrs on it so if I were to pay for the hr I already got my moneys worth (if I never touch it again) being $5 an hr. But they will keep updating and they will keep going deep into it. I’m sure at some point the will even update descriptions for probes and the cars and every other thing storm chasers get. It’s just fun to think what they could do with funds. But I get it’s not for everyone and not everyone is in the position to hand out money just because you see potential.

    As someone who has literally DREAMT of being a real storm chaser but doesn't have the time, budget, or vehicle, yet plays a lot of video games, I'd say this is a solid SIMULATOR. The gameplay honestly is realistic in terms of reading a radar, and really feeling like a storm chaser. I would wait to say anything about performance/graphics until the real game comes out, and even then its supposed to be a realistic open-world sim. I have the worst laptop, with the qualifications not even meeting minimum, and was able to have a little fun on the single player (al beit constant lag not usual for the device). Currently, if you have a stronger pc I would actually highly recommend this sim if you love weather and geek out like me!
    Do the graphics look pretty bad right now? Absolutely! Does the game lag and spike sometimes? For sure! But that doesn't mean they aren't trying. Right now I believe (and have seen after the updates) they are focusing in the main objective before graphics---making it a working game. In addition, many of the early game/sim testers are weather nerds and chasers alike, and they (the developers) really want their input to make it as real as a simulator as they can. In my personal opinion I would rather sacrifice graphics if I can have an otherwise realistic chasing experience using real radar and no lag spikes, especially since the developers have actually been listening to the testers!!! (Sad that its rare).
    You are completely entitled to your opinion, no h4te here! I myself would just wait until 1.0 to start bashing it, as you don't know what the future holds, and have found it to be worth the $35. Pokemon Scarlet on the other hand...

    I doubt you have ill-intent toward this game, but I would like to correct some false-assumptions/inaccurate critiques you've made of the game.
    1. $35 is a lot of money. But the two developers had to singlehandedly code importing real life weather data into a video game that runs realtime on people's computers. This has never been done before, and they have filed several patents for this process and technology that they've developed. It cost more than 50,000 USD for them to develop this game along with this technology. It was expensive to produce, and it will be expensive to improve. It was not an easy task by any means to create. They are not greedy, they literally need this money to continue producing the game and pay for the loans they took out to produce it. It is a hefty price to fund a game that will become the greatest storm chasing game ever created.
    2. Lower the graphics settings to medium. The game will look nearly the same as it does at high settings, and you will be getting 60fps just like that. This has been extensively recommended in the Outbrk discord server to anyone with performance issues. They know that this is an issue and it will be fixed very soon.
    3. It is a simulator of real life chasing. The developers' goal was to make a game that is as close to chasing as humanly possible. It is not supposed to be easy by any means. Why did they do this? Every other storm chasing game out there procedurally generates storms that are extremely predictable and easy to chase- Outbrk's goal was to make storms based on real life so that they acted like real life, and were hard to chase like real life.
    They have a set of 14 scenarios currently that last 45 minutes to 1 hour thirty minutes. That is about 14 hours of playtime to get through the entire list of scenarios, not to mention the fact that people have reported that chasing the same storm several times is enjoyable so they can perfect their strategy and improve on their chase to get higher scores. They will cycle out the scenarios very frequently, so there will never be a moment where their playerbase gets tired of the current set of scenarios.
    4. It is a 625km2 map designed by TWO developers with full time jobs. Their focus was a realistic storm chasing game with a map big enough to support the real, near 1:1 scale of real life storms. The map is bare bones right now because the quality of the map itself does not matter; the clouds and realistic storm structure were their priority. They will greatly improve on the map in due time.
    5. This is opinion based. I would recommend showcasing the audio of this game that matters: the weather FX. This would be much better so the audience can decide this for themselves. I have heard only good things about the audio design in the Outbrk discord server across the board, except for the car engine sounds.

      Totally get the critique and appreciate you sharing your thoughts.
      A few things I’d add to this:
      1) No one is ever owed or deserving of your money. No is saying they haven’t worked hard, or that they want to recoup development costs. But a lot of games out there are developed by just one or two people (Stardew Valley, Bodycam, Phasmophobia to name a few). Fundamentally, a game has to be weighed up if it’s worthy of your $35, and in this case I don’t believe so. Of course, that’s just subjective on my part and one of many views.
      2) lowering graphics shouldn’t be an option of a game of this nature on a 4090. 15fps doesn’t tell me it’s rough around the edges at max settings (does this look max!) bur rather it’s fundamentally broken.
      3) completely agree on point 3. I play a lot of simulator style games so take this point fairly. The concern of the 15 preset weather conditions though is a big surprise…
      4) big isn’t always better if it’s bland. ATS is huge but still enjoyable to drive about it.
      5) I call out the storms as being the one plus point on the weather. But it’s beyond awful everywhere else I’m afraid. Again, there is a lot of janky and bad “simulator” or indie projects out there on steam. I’ve played hundreds and this is definitely one of the lower ones I’ve ever played when it comes to sound.
      Thank you for sharing mate, some very fair points but just wanted to add some additional context around the things I said. 🍻

    in total there are 15 scenarios, keep in mind the game was in development for 7 or so years. scenarios are made using WRF simulations, which you can run on your own computer. Frankly. 7(?) years for 15 scenarios with no variability is a bit of a major issue.
    The devs arent exactly fond of player input. They took a lot of legit steam reviews criticizing the game as “trolls”, and actually asked people to “leave positive reviews to combat trolls”, which as far as I know, is against TOS. I talked to one of the devs and gave him constructive criticism, but it rather seemed like he dodged any question I had gameplay related, and when I responded, he just ignored me and moved on. Overall not a good look in that department. They’ve also had 10s of thousands of dollars worth of funding via kickstarter.
    The concept is cool, it was just executed very poorly, and the devs really need to change their attitude as far as feedback goes for this to really flourish. I’ll give credit where credit is due and say they’ve made an impressive system.
    But thats just my 2 cents on the game, I might edit this later incase I remember anything

    As a huge meteorology nerd and someone who lives in the heart of tornado alley and eats this shit up, I couldn't buy this game fast enough when I found it. I have a pretty fast PC, so while the performance is irritating, it's mostly tolerable. What is really pissing me off most about the game is what the name of it infers "Outbreak." I don't know if it's just bad luck on my part, but I usually get only one or two briefly lived tornadoes over the course of a chase, maybe 3 with one long lived one if I'm particularly lucky. In the Midwest, we do not call 2 or 3 tornadoes an "outbreak", we call that "Tuesday". It feels like less of a tornado chasing simulator and more like a "drive an infuriatingly crappy econobox around in some mild rain and wind" simulator. I had so much hope for this, on paper it's the game I've wanted FOREVER.

      This puts a lot of my thoughts perfectly! A lot of people are like that’s chasing, and as a chaser myself it definitely is epically the busts, but there is still plenty of amazing clouds and scenery to explore on the chase. In this game there is not. The cloud features aren’t great and there is a lack of a ton of supercell features that are amazing to see. Maybe there will be updates that fix a lot of this to make it a storm chasing game rather than a tornado game (if that makes sense).

    The weather was fully created and simulated on what is essentially a supercomputer the dev had to rent (not cheap)
    It was then translated using a custom made tool (by the dev) so it could run visually and within the engine.
    Its a long expensive process to do which is why there are limited scenarios, but every single one of them is an exact simulation.
    All the data, locations, speeds, heights and radars are so accurate they could be used in the real world.
    its a miracle that it even runs on a high spec PC at all.
    I'm sure it will get better but there are so many calculations that goes into every tiny little detail, you wont be running this on a toaster like doom.

Even in another game I play that has tornado weather, it's just an item that drops down, doesn't even reach the sky, and is obviously not realistic. This game has the most realistic cloud system I've ever seen.

    The preset storms were incredibly disappointing to hear about. I know nothing about game design, or if there is a way to make the storms truly random each game. But as a storm chaser myself, part of the thrill is the unexpected. The uncertainty on what a storm might do at a given moment. Having presets kinda destroys one of the main aspects of Storm Chasing in my opinion. I have very high hopes for this game. Basically the reason why this game is able to run without actually making your computer explode, while also not ruining the accuracy of the weather, is because it's preset. It takes a crazy amount of time to simulate a fully accurate weather system, so pre-simulating them and then just replaying them on your computer allows you to actually run it.
      The only way to really avoid this is to compromise the accuracy, OR to allow the player to generate their own storm presets beforehand. Which would take a VERY long time and require an even beefier PC.
      I'm pretty sure simulations like this take days to complete.

    • @jpscientist23
      @jpscientist23 Місяць тому

      @@catpoke9557 I played the game a couple times and had the exact same scenario twice in a row. I play a lot of Roblox twisted and I feel it’s a lot more random in its storms. Would there be a way to instead of making full day scenarios make it so there’s chances of a preset storm spawning for a scenario. Maybe add more thermodynamics and that lowers and raises the chances of storms happening, more or less storms in a given scenario. It makes each game unique.

  • @catpoke9557
    @catpoke9557 Місяць тому

    Only thing I really fully agree with is the bad performance (which I think is basically unavoidable with realistic weather simulations) and crap graphics. Of course it's also buggy, but I expect that from a game that just released. Other than that the game seems pretty much perfect. Although I've noticed you run out of gas insanely fast, which is weird considering the distances you travel to chase are relatively accurate to real life. So you'd think the gas would be closer to real life too, although of course not fully like real life, because then you wouldn't have to refill even once. The gas seems annoying.
    I think the environment is very realistic and the fact that real-world knowledge applies fully to this game is AMAZING.
    The biggest problem gameplay-wise for me is that, since the storms are so realistic, it's not really possible to simulate them randomly in real-time. So you don't get randomly generated storms. Which means it'll be an amazing game the first time you encounter storms, and probably for a while after as well so you can re-explore and spot things you didn't before, but once you've explored it all it won't really be replayable anymore. Of course replayability is not necessary for any game, but it's always a huge plus.

    $35 isnt bad especially when they dont have the funding like other big studios have. People are defending this game way too heavily. I got it when it released on steam and its a mess currently. 35 dollars for an early access is insane, it runs like im using a calculator to play it, its so barren in terms of the environment, the graphics look like im back in 2013 and the online is barely functional. I immediately refunded the game. Having early access on the steam page does not excuse the high price tag. If im paying that much for a game, it should be much more polished than it currently is.

      I think a lot of people are defending it so hard because for all intents and purposes it is honestly the highest fidelity storm chasing game out right now on the actual weather side of things for one, and second because we all shelled out 35$ and we must cope with our wallets being lighter. That said the map design for me leaves much to be desired. The roads make no sense, you don’t choose where to spawn, what a mess so far.

      There are a LOT of early access games with one or two developers who achieve far greater polish in early access. Just to name a few:
      Stardew Valley.
      Phasmophobia.
      Bodycam.
      Braid.
      Minecraft.
      Papers please.
      The comment about triple A games wasn’t comparing studios, but rather saying we judge early access games like we do any other game because money exchanges hands. So just like we give bad scores to some early access games we also give good scores too.
      But the fact it’s a new studio, or made by just one or two people doesn’t give them a free pass, because as shown up top, loads of amazing games in early access in the same circumstance were brilliant (and much cheaper).

    I know you won't come back when the game stabilizes and fully releases, but for someone who has been waiting for this for years, I am 100% okay giving the $35. A lot of the storm chasing games out there are more arcade style, where this is far more realistic in terms of scope. Is it perfect? No. Is it even great? No. But it is a start, and it is a start I want to support because I see what the devs have done and there is more momentum with this game than any of the others.

      The weather in this game pretty much has to be presets, as each scenario is made by running an actual weather model on rented supercomputer power, simulating storms from real life events and then putting the generated data into the game. The graphics are shameful to start with, the textures are shameful and I agree with all the points raised in the video. It could be a good game for sure, however at $35 price tag this game is going to be review bombed and then it will die. You can not price an early access game at a $35 price point when it looks like that, its just not good enough. Unfortunately its priced to fail and will join all the other abandoned early access titles. Advice - if you are not a graphic artist(and clearly the dev/devs are not) then hire one ffs!!! at least make it look decent while you iron out the programming side. If you cant afford to hire one, then maybe you did not have the budget to commence work on a $35 title in the first place - you cant just knock any old shite together in your bedroom and charge that sort of money. I agree with your price assessment and if this is indy as I suspect then 35 bucks is shooting pretty high in terms of indy titles which usually sit anywhere from 5 to 20 bucks depending on whats offered and early access on an indy is always sketchy especially if the dev has no previous titles. Always gotta wander if its a bait and switch grab cash and run type deal. The concept of this game is interesting but i wouldn't buy it definitely not at that price point.

    • @MinetestSore12
      @MinetestSore12 Місяць тому

      You're completely right, it does really appeal to a lot of the fans around storm chasing. In fact, most people interested in this project has been keeping eyes on it for well over 6 years now. It just recently went live on Steam after being a Kickstarter project in the past. It's definitely an Indie project, given that it was only 2 people that worked on it, but the price is somewhat justified given the amount of money they spent just getting the storm system to be as detailed as it is currently.
      I mean, in one of Jeff Favignano's videos, one of the 2 developers had mentioned that they had to rent practically a super computer so they could run simulations of real-life storm events, transfer all that data into scenarios that the game can read and understand, and finally implement a way for the storms to still be varied, even under the same scenario. That way, wind speed is different, wind direction is different, but it can still have the same scenario.
      Each time you play, its still a different system, you have to forecast on the spot, and it truly is one of the most realistic storm chasing simulator/games you can find out there, the second being Twisted, which is (surprisingly) on Roblox, although they have started considering transferring to a different engine.
      Also, sorry I typed this much, I tend to go overboard on typing.
