This is a great video! Everything about masks in fusion should start with this! Very clear!
Learnt a load from this video and I've been editing in resolve for almost 2 years now. A series of roto-scoping would be great!
Yes, roto scoping would be great to learn more about!
Yes, please for the roto series! Thank you ❤
This is very helpful! Thank you so much!
Thank you 🎉 because of you I know how to edit and my chanel is growing very well
Perfect video for polylines. thumbs up!
Great video - thanks!
Great video, thanks. And yes, a very detailed video on rotoscoping would definitely be appreciated.
Wow! That's amazing
Thanks Casey!
I've done a fair amount of rotoscoping in DaVinci over the past year and I still learned a thing or two
I never knew about hitting tab! I wondered why I couldn't get the double poly thing to work. I've just been layering masks to get the effect, doh! I knew it would be worth watching this, thanks!
Ok this was amazing. Is there a way to create an outline using a polygon? Say for example I wanted to trace the outline of a moving person, it's easy to do in the colour tab, but then I don't know how to turn that power window mask into a border (the way a polygon does in fusion).
awesome, please make more in depth videos on DR tools🔥🔥🔥
Great video. Thanks. Can you make a video of how to control points? I tried to use the "follow published point" that was on a polygon that follow a tracker. But I could not make it work. Thanks
great
Is there any way to make the handles more visible? They are really tiny and sometimes blend in with the background color.
Hey Casey! Saw you at the BMD booth and went all fanboy in you. Thanks!
I do a LOT of roto in AE, and watching this vid - trying to go to the dark side - I like some things about how the Fusion pentool works, but one thing I like about AEs pen, I can click on a line in-between points and adjust the shape that way, where fusion adds a new point instead. I see advantages to both, but it would be really nice if we could switch between those behaviors, especially considering your point about keeping the point count to a minimum. With that in mind, NOT adding points should be the default behavior. Since fusion does make use of shift/Ctrl/alt modifiers, why not use the AE convention - hold shift to add/subtract points? Just a thought...thanks for all you do. You are an excellent presenter 🫡
what if i did this tracing process in the color tab, could i move it over to fusion some how? what do i do?
A bit like inkscape then! Lovely tut 🤙
Great vid- masking does it work on the studio version on the iPad Pro?
is there somebody more interesting about rotoscoping? Because I do! Thanks Casey!
Haven’t seen this yet. Say I want a long slender rectangle below my signature. But I want a series of 6-7 holes through that box that show the background (transparent). How do I make a rectangle or polygon and have multiple masks affect it?
Can I just ask if there's a way to turn off the auto animation of masks? It causes me no end of grief when I make an adjustment later and find that it's set a keyframe and I don't realize this until I'm playing back later and wondering what happened.
Please do make some videos on Rotoscoping.
Okay but like for complete beginners what do I do after I have traced what I wanted?
How do you make a hole in the mask? like if you were masking a donut
yes, we want more roto!))))
Thanks for going all those confusing buttons!
Thank you, great video and help... I just missed cats ;)
How could I do If I want to mask an object, and then lock it in the mask? (something like if I cut the object out of the image and then I can moove it) for example: I'd like to mask a hand and then move it, I can mask it but when I move the mask I doesn't lock the hand in and it goes away, I even tried to render the masked hand and then reuse it, but it didn't work, anyone knows anything that could help me? thanks for all
What is media pool?
Watching this, but finding myself distracted by that Donkey Kong 64 cartridge in the background... nice touch, bro! 🤣
It's THPS2 actually
Great video as usual! I’d like to ask you a question. What software you use for screen recording? I see that when zoom in the screen is flowing the movement of the mouse and I like it. Thank you in advanced!
He use OBS
He has videos about OBS and little tips and tricks
@@DDule_ thanks
@@AM23. thanks
im just starting in fusion. if you can please make a more in-drepth video on rotoscoping please. I really appreciate it.
If you have the Studio version, the Magic Mask will save sooooo much time on rotoscoping. 🙂
What if u want to use the mountain in a different shot how to do that.
mask the mountain and export it with an alpha channel.
"If you already know kinda how to do it, then why are you watching this video?"
Because I might learn new tricks.... like that double poly mode. Haven't tried that one yet, very cool. And to leave a tip not mentioned in the video, use the shape box to select points, then press and hold T to rotate only the points you have selected instead of the entire mask. It's a little buggy though as you have to de-select and select the shape box tool again otherwise your rotation will be cleared when you try to move or adjust the points after rotating them.
Great tutorial but Why is my mask not white? Instead it's just a line drawing on the black background?
Would you recommend a Wacom Pen Display for rotoscoping? My mouse drawings look worse than a kindergartener’s drawings. 😅
Wacom is always a welcomed tool for drawing splines. I have a 6*8 because I dont like having to move my hand up and down over a huge area.
Another great video. I thought I knew how to draw pollys: after watching this, I realised I know nothin'!
Is there any way to get masks in the Edit Page?
Not natively, but Patrick Stirling made some Edit page presets for using masks in the edit page. UA-cam deletes comments with links, but search for 'patrick stirling mask edit page' on UA-cam to find it.
Rotoscoping is evil, but unavoidable sometimes. May as well have as much info in our corner for when we need it.
the best thing I ever learned is stabilizing the image first. lockdown is a great plugin for that. much easier to rotoscoping something when it doesnt move.
? I just saw a video with the magic mask feature requested for DR 19.0, and also a video showing that you can use the magic-mask in fusion/edit page with some template/macro/preset/effect … I have a feeling, doing masks this way in fusion will soon be history .. :). [edit: video was by Patrick Stirling showing magic mask in edit/fusion page]
magic mask only works on certain shapes, and at that its not controllable at the point level.
how to rotoscope hairs..
delta key and multiple mattes, soft fringe for the hair and a core solid for the body, combined. its an old school method.
It would f🤬king help if Davinci rather had an option to automatically draw the polygon based on THE MASKING! (i.e. "Ranges")
how you create a damn VIGNETTE on an image. hehhehehehehe.. I cannot get this in fusion. ... gettign frustrated... thank you in advanced.. cheer mate
Hey Casey, do you have any Idea how to create these Golden Logo Animations in Fusion ? ua-cam.com/video/4-lvmO85VYQ/v-deo.html
I feel like this tool is super finicky.... you pause to mask something, return to it, and then it won't let you continue. It's pretty annoying.
