  • ACTIVE FUEL MANAGEMENT LIFTERS, SLIDE SHOW. FEATURING RAMESSES THE MECHANIC IN TRAINING!
Replacement on our 2011 Chevy Silverado 1500 4 wheel drive with 5.3L LMG AFM. Had a lifter fail in December 2017. We did replacement with Factory parts Only at this time. LS7 Upgrade with a Camshaft upgrade to come at a later date, will put that one all in video for everyone to enjoy.
We removed the cylinder heads and original lifters. We performed the repair using only Factory replacement parts. What kind of Parts you use is your choice. We then cleaned all of our surfaces and prepped them for reassembly, then we reassemble being sure to follow the factory torque specs and NEW head bolts. Always remember to pre-soak your lifters in some fresh oil and be sure to use a quality assembly Lube when going back together with moving parts to ensure proper lubrication on initial start up.

I have a 2005 Envoy with the same problem. Should I be able to do the same thing in my driveway WITHOUT removing my engine?
BTW: I am not a mechanic, but willing to try.

Paul Hahn The cylinder heads will need new head bolt set, gaskets. If you have any experience doing engine work it's not a bad job.
