- who'd have thought that this would be the quest that would push me to my limits...
Please like and comment if you enjoyed as it helps the algorithm :) it's much appreciated. Thank you!
Welcome back to Unguided, where I'm trying to complete every quest in old school runescape without using a guide, wiki or plugins. I'll only be using my limited knowledge and in-game learnings. Full rules below.
RULES
- No use of OSRS wiki (or any equivalent) for anything - this includes looking up item spawns, quest guides, boss guides, anything
- No use of any other quest helper sites
- No use of quest helper plugin
CAVEATS
- I love OSRS UA-cam, I might inadvertently learn something I don't know by watching my favourite content creators, but I'm not going to stop watching them so that's just a risk I'm willing to take + it's unlikely going to be relevant for me
- I may use some QoL plugins, but only a few. Loot tracker to prove grinds, ground items so I don't miss drops and left click to use bones. Nothing that will give me info I didn't previously have
- I'm going to try and avoid any spoiler comments. If you can, please try not to help me if there's an episode where I'm stuck on something. I appreciate the sentiment but telling me an item spawn or quest step could spoil the fun :)

Thank you so much for 1k subs!!! Hope you enjoy the video
Your channel rules dude. Congrats on 1k! I love the content ❤
Grats on almost 14000 subs now :)
Half a year later and youre closing in on 22k subs!! big congrats. Love this series. It is so genuine and refreshing to watch for someone who played this game now for over 12 years. Keep it up
28k
I'm enjoying every video! Even the shorts 😺
Please don’t give up. This series is really amazing
Thank you! I’m still going :)
I see you with 200k subs in 5 years.
@@callumparker4623way less than that at this point

So fun fact, you can actually mess up the creation of the glue in this quest by grinding up essence instead, and it results in the creation of the obscure weird gloop item. Because of its obscurity and being such a pointless item, the organisation that runs the runescape wikis was named Weird Gloop after it.
So ironically this whole thing can be seen as revenge for not using the wiki lol
I assure you. while it may be almost endlessly frustrating for you. The enjoyment we are getting watching you play is quite a lot!
The frustration and sudden ah HAH! Is so very nostalgic.
Watching you just try using all those different items on the tree reminds me of old point and click games where you just start rubbing every item you have on everything you come across and showing them to any one you can cause you're stuck and just don't know what bizarre leap of logic you need to make
Always super interesting watching you figure this stuff out, really highlights how important stuff like drop table knowledge is these days, so it's super cool and interesting seeing you puzzle out where you can get something. You're doing a really great job with this
Thank you!
At least up to this point, it hasn't been too much of moon logic. Can't wait to see him getting to the machine part tho
I genuinely don't think I would have figured all of that out on my own. Much respect for the big brain moves and incredible amount of patience/determination.
love this series, well done for not giving up!
Thank you!
I knew about the elemental wizards so when you went to that mage shop I was on the edge of my seat hoping you would spot them and you did! So satisfyingly lucky, love this so much
Bro, I watched this whole video thinking mud rune was not the answer and when it worked I was blown away. The way you narrate your experience is top tier! Subbed
P.S. crystal bow best bow
I was in the same boat and I've completed this quest twice, totally didn't believe it'd be that straight forward.
I'm sure there'll be more moments like this in the future!
16:50 Very insightful of you to notice the elemental wizards would drop elemental talisman, but also shows how much consideration has been put into the design to make it diegetic.
Interestingly enough, watching you play and just try to work things out sort of adds to the lore.
There's the whole question of whether or not we're actually the bad guy sometimes. Helping the zamorakian mage seems "bad" in Enter the Abyss, but here you've gone and helped him because you needed more information to be able to help the gnomes, and this was the only way you could see how to do it.
You've been teleported from tutorial island into a world you know almost nothing about and youre just trying to find your way. I think we forget this as players who know so much about the game and its lore after playing for half our lives.
I love this perspective on things. It really is just finding your feet in a world you know nothing about. Thanks for the comment!
Solid effort! I couldn't have told you where to get water or earth talismans from, so massive kudos for figuring it out!
Man, you've been so clever so far. Please don't give up. I've been loving this.
Honestly man the inspiration you have given me to get my questing done is insane, I've got memories of walking around like a twat as a kid for hours looking for inane things in this game. It's why I never got very far as a kid who didn't know you could look up answers on forums and guides online. This was pre-wiki pre runelite pre osrs days tough but even still man, amazing amazing stuff will always love every episode
Been playing the game for over 20 years, insane amount of respect for you and this endeavor. It’s honestly unheard of, please don’t stop!
The excitement you get from figuring out the stuff is contagious! 🥳🥳🥳🥳
Really hope you don't give up on this man, excellent stuff can't wait to see what happens next in the series
The dedication is really amazing, thank you for this series!!
Thank YOU for watching!
You popped up into my recommended so I've been watching through the series from the beginning. I know this is old news, but your hunch about the big frogs by the water alter dropping water and earth talismans was spot on. I'd consider that good game design, factoring in drops relevant to their air. Wonder if other alters work similarly for combo ruins? Then again, the elemental wizard circle seems to have you covered none the less.
Anyway, enjoying the series and already subbed. This series is kind of like a nostalgia time machine, experiencing everything for the first time again.
I'm genuinely so incredibly impressed that you managed to figure out the steps to acquire magic glue. Absolutely unreal. Series is great and I can't wait to keep binging these on my 2nd monitor while skilling. Great work!
I found your channel through the incredibly well edited yt short of you making the magic glue. Binged this series and can't wait for the future vids. I myself rush through quests without paying much attention to the lore which is a shame bc the lore is incredible in this game. I'm sure the devs must be excited about a series like this popping up. Keep doing what your doing man, really great content!
Thanks so much, that means a lot!
It‘s so fun to watch you figure stuff out, especially since you actually do it
I really enjoy this series and I can't imagine doing it myself if I had the knowledge you have of the game. Must be extremely frustrating at points but then really rewarding once you figure something out. One thought that I had was that maybe you should write down your ideas on how to solve certain things on a notepad or something so you won't forget them when you evidently go and do another thing before doing the thing you were first thinking. Keep up the good work!
Thank you! Glad you’re enjoying the series. Yeah definitely a good idea, I will start doing that!
So fun watching you figure this stuff out
I recently went into the gnomeball game area for the first time as a diary step and recognised the soundtrack from your videos :)
Loving the series. Keep it up
Haha what a track. Thank you!
I love your series and your dedication 😊
this is the point where your editing style has come into its own and is refined and crisp
Wanting to say again that im loving the series keep up the good work!
I love the concept, keep it up!
I keep coming back to this series, it's so enjoyable to watch. Can't wait for more!
Thanks! More coming soon
@@AlienFoodage looking forward to it!
Damn this makes me wish I didn't just Wiki everything after getting stumped on something for too long. Love this series!
Bit sad this didn't show up in my sub box, very good episode!
Thanks Crukken!
really good seeing you work out the sticky glue, good job
Some of the quests came out with new content and so it helped explain a new area and a bit of the lore or got you thinking about a new skill or whatever
This has been the best, most binge-able series I've come across in the OSRS tuber scene. I love every decision you make regarding music choice, editing style, narration and your style of game play. So much so, you've inspired me to do the exact same play through! I've been grinding it out on my main, aimlessly for a while with no real goals set in place. This restriction you came up with will reignite that spark I've been missing! Much love, friend.
Thank you so so much for the kind words. These types of comments are what keeps the series going. I’m glad I could inspire you to do an unguided play through, good luck friend!
@@AlienFoodage Well I hope it never ends, I am just about finished it and it's been such a fun journey. I feel like I was along for the ride the entire time! I can't wait to see where the rest of the quests take you, maybe we'll cross paths one day hahah. Wishing you a happy New Year!
@@Graive17 I hope we do and happy new year!
Got here because of the shorts, watched the fremmenik, herblore and monkey madness, great content, goodluck!!
I would never have sorted out the mud rune part, good on you!
Thanks!
gzgz for 1k subs brother!
Thanks bro!
Bro we are so proud of you, never stop never stopping king🤴
you should have a system that you can ask your friend a question, but not get direct direction. more like they could tell you if that a dumb idea, or if you are on the right track.
like for the tree sap, you could of asked if using a saw
on a evergreen was a good idea, and he could tell you that its almost there.... dont want you to give up on the series :)
if you need someone , i could help with that
Definitely might have to soon, appreciate the offer!
i started runescape only a couple years ago but there is still something oddly nostalgic about series like this and osrs in general
Your tenacity is commendable man, absolute chad of the unique ironman community.
Might be time to think about potential lifelines and wiggle room. Like when you asked people in-game, I think there is space for organic and fitting outs if it truly is too much.
Keep up the work man! Really look forward to your uploads :)
Thank you! Yeah I definitely might need to start thinking of something there
Noou, don't give up! you can do it!
A phone a friend system would be good, provided they don't also just look on the wiki. But obviously much more fun to see you struggle for 4 days :D
Amazing series ❤
Thank you! That means a lot
Man this the content I wanna seeee!
I was somewhat amused when I looked it up quickly that not only can the frogs near the water altar drop water talismans, they can also drop _earth_ talismans!
Would have been handy if you'd just gone to the frogs and then gotten lucky lol.
lovely stuff
Mime random giving you horrible flashbacks
Been binging this series. It's quite a trip.
Also, have you ever examined the Earth wizard? Easily the best examine text in the game.
Thank you! And I’ve not,I’ll need to check that out
As challenging as this is, figuring out stuff like the magic glue has got to be super gratifying
bros even got that Chills commentary voiceeEEeee
Getting the pouch im surprised you didn't think of the abby creatures for drops
mourning end part 2 is gonna be an ordeal xD
Lemme give you a spoiler! the items you need can be found the world :) nice content ❤
LETS FUCKING GO WITH THAT MAGIC GLUE YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ahhhh... magic glue... yes...
Because of your series I’ve been playing my iron man completely without wiki or Google. It’s so much more enjoyable to not have to min max
Yesss another unguided account! Good luck!
Keep it up dude
You poor thing you there were talimesn so close near the air alter
Really enjoying watching you struggle, hope you don’t give yourself too hard of a time…. This game makes no sense sometimes
will you do one of each tier of clue scroll unguided in the future?
I've only just found this series but my first thought was "I wonder what J1mmy (The Quest Guy) would think of this?"
I honestly thought you were wasting your time making mud runes but I guess you're just too bright for me 😂 keep going m8
Loving the content mate, I like that you're not a cringey shit bag x
Hahaha thanks
14:07 / 17:56 LETS FREAKING GOOOOOOOO!!!!
You got it! What a great series. This is Swampletics level of entertaining, but in the opposite way. Whereas Settled had all these theorycrafted paths for optimal grinds, you're theorycrafting to ??? and then maybe ??? to get you to ??? aaaand profit!
Thank you!
good luck with morning dale part 2 xd
i could give u good advice what to bring but hey i wont guess thats part of the challange xd i died like 10x there xddd
Haha yeah I’d rather go in blind 😂
I wonder if Jagex watch your videos. between this and the Avan Fitzharmon situation in your recent video, surely Jag could learn from this kind of series
The algorithm is failing me why did i only find this series yesterday
somebody help, did he record The Grand Tree? can't seem to find it
Please tell me you had your gold smithing gauntlets when you made the bars, otherwise you lost half the smithing exp.
I thought the same thing about Glough and Glouphrie and also thought the quest name was a pun on the word "glory" (maybe it is idk) so I thought Glough's name was pronounced like Glow. Confusing stuff lol
How tempting does it get to open up RuneScape wiki ?
Yeah it’s pretty hard 😂 ngl if I wasn’t making a youtube series I would have probably folded at this point lol
Yo, where did you get that elite clue scroll and what does it say? Was this in a previous episode?
Damn that is a great question. It was definitely earlier episode and unsure where I got it as it was a while ago. Kind of just saving clues right now as I have no idea how to complete any of them. This one is ‘his bark is worse than his bite’. Not even tried to think about it yet
@@AlienFoodage I went through the list of sources on the wiki and compared with your highscore stats and was thoroughly stumped! Then I realized there's a more mundane source of these. I don't want to spoil anything but did you possibly get this while mining, woodcutting or fishing?
Damn, I might have to dig through the footage now to confirm as it’s got me curious too. So, I don’t know for certain, but I mine a lot, unsure if you can get one from that. I also did a bit of woodcutting so wondering if you can get it out of a nest. I might actually dig through the footage when I get a bit of time.
Also have had a stab at temporos and wintertodt, could have been those too
@@AlienFoodage Woodcutting seems to be the most likely to me. Worth noting that getting an elite from these methods is quite rare - I think I can say that without spoiling anything.
hype!
this might be a fun addition to your rules:
if you are stuck and REALLY need info you can "pay" to ask one random person a single question. maybe 100k? just drop it somewhere or otherwise waste it
I like the idea! I definitely think I’ll have to implement some sort of point/question system if I get really really stuck, but only as a last resort
@@AlienFoodage whatever you pick it should for sure involve asking random players and not just looking it up on your own. that would be too easy
I believe in you
pog
Nice problem solving, those were both really random.
Sapping a tree is a real life thing, so it's somewhat logical. Mud rune I could easily see someone getting stuck on.. Pun intended
Bro what the fuck I swear a week ago this series was on episode 2
I assume that you're fine with spoilers for where to get Earth Talismans now that you've gotten them.. And if you're not, then spoiler alert I guess...
Regular Men drop them really commonly. For other talismans you did some good thinking there, and these days there's even easier way to get them. But that one I won't spoil at this time
The closest you've been to giving up *so far*!
How about this if a single step takes 7 days you get to phone a friend who can give you a single hint. I think it would be kind of pointless if you just dont figure it out. At least most quests get less esoteric compared to the gnome and the desert questlines
If there’s something I get really stuck on then yeah I reckon something like this would be good
The closest you have been to giving up...yet
