So much of my house is thrifted too! Pennies on the dollar and I've learned to let go of "treasures" when I find new to me treasures! Then someone else can find them and enjoy them.😁

Yes! I love thriftily for so many reasons. I love the sustainability of repurposing, I love that it’s a great alternative to a lot of the consumerism pushed on us for “trends” and I love have pieces that have history and a story. Keep these coming!

Also a bigger selection. Lately every store seems to carry same merchandise. Often find much better quality, too. Especially clothes. Just need to be patient and carry a list. I avoid overbuying by only getting certain colors and only natural fabrics and styles. Love the one in one out rule. ❤
I do love to thrift!! I also feel that if I go in looking for anything too specific, I might not find it, but keep an open mind and shop for fun!!!! It usually works!!❤😊

open minded always with thrift shopping. Don't know how many times I've found a great item that wasn't on my intended buy list. YES, YES, YES, always use a cart and grab anything that you might want. Great tip.

Please don't be discouraged if you don't find what you need or want. Also don't be turned off by quality or some prices. Some days it can be a bunch of overpriced junk. Perseverance and going to different stores and on different days and times can make a huge difference. For me, it seems like some days I find a bunch of stuff, at several stores, even. Other days I am frustrated or depressed by the selection.
This was a great haul and I love how you used the pieces in your home. I will be going thrifting this weekend to see what I can find. I am going with the expectation that what's for me will be! Thanks for this video.

We moved into a temporary small place so i have been going thru a lot of stuff and only keeping things around that mean a lot to me or that i truly love that i put out what fits. So i recently started going to thrift stores to add some goodies i see you all do. Ty for the tips especially clear out clutter and take vwith you. ❤❤

My daughter has a trick she uses to figure out if she really wants any of the items she's trying to decide on in her cart. Without looking she will list off what she has in her cart. If there is an item that she doesn't list off then it must not have made enough of an impression on her and she will put it back.
That is GENIUS! I need to screen shot that for next time, such a good tip!
Another tip is if I would pay full price and if I already have a place for it.

Yes, I use full strength vinegar in spray bottle, but Lysol might be better for some items. Also sunlight sanitizes. Any tips for getting smoke smell out of books?

Holding onto an item while you decide is great advice. Learned this lesson thrifting years ago. Also, works well for discount stores like Home Goods. Had this happen when I tried to get two matching throw pillows at Home Goods that were in two different isles. Also, you can wash baskets with soap and water & rinse-just don’t soak them and dry as soon as possible.

I work for goodwill and I absolutely love my part time job there. I donate to them and I shop there as well.
I love that saying. I'm going to "borrow" it to say at the end of my videos.
Whit, I just got done at Goodwill & omg did I ever SCORE!!! A woman was looking at a gorgeous metal lantern with a candle & Christmas florals inside it trying to decide if she wanted it. I was a few feet away & kept chanting in my head "put it back, put it back, put it back, put it back". Finally she set it back on the shelf. I waited until she walked out of that aisle & I practically RAN to that lantern. I was in my GLORY when I realized there was not only that one, but a large & a small lantern also...they were a set of three!!! I grabbed all three of those suckers!!! I found MANY other treasures this trip, but had to relay that story, lol!
Haha I love that!! I did that once with a console table that a guy carried around the store for his wife and once he put it down I pounced 😂 congrats on your great find!!

I found the same Norman Rockwell book and displayed it on a brass book stand next to a ceramic vintage holly pattern candle holder with handle and a brass candle snuffer. My guests loved the vignette and most people were fascinated with the snuffer and everyone enjoyed flipping through the book. 🌲

My Grandmother collected dishes etc so have I all of my life. I have collected miniatures all my life. I buy holiday stuff all year. Bought some really neat Halloween decor this week. Another important thing that I do is buy big bags of Halloween and Christmas collectibles. Wonderful for my beautiful vintage wreaths.

Great tips! I love thrift store shopping. There are 6 stores in my small SC town. I will hit 2-3 a week then the others the next week. I do this with my Mom each week. She has Alzheimer's so this gets her out of the house and helps her when she sees things from the past. We also will hit antique stores sometimes too. To me, it is the thrill of the hunt and making memories with my Mom. I have a tip for you. Ask your stores if they have a discount day. Stores here have discounts everyday of the week. Different ones for each day. Love your channel. Great inspiration.

Whitney this was an awesome video and you sure got some beautiful items and did such a good job of making them over. I especially was drawn to the tall lamp with all that texture that had texture already and all you had to do with paint it a light color, it is beautiful. Everybody's Goodwill always has such better things than ours but occasionally I luck up, but I love flea markets and making things over too. Great video!

This is the most stacked and organized thrift store I've ever seen. Ours has nothing
Oh no! That’s always a bummer when I hear that, hopefully there are some gems hidden in there still!
I keep lists on my phone of items I'm looking for. Both grocery lists and 'wish lists'. Love buying baskets. Trying to transition from plastic to either baskets, glass or metal. And natural fiber in furnishings. Really fell in love with a lovely Christmas throw at Ollie's, but it was polyester. Hopefully it will be gone next time I shop there😂 my self discipline is only so much. Having lists and stipulations helps, especially in a small house and tiny budget. Don't forget to ask about senior discounts or punch cards. My closest thrift store has 25% off one day a week and another offers 10 dollars off with full punch card. Happy shopping 🛒.

I love thrifting and I love all your tips Whitney. You have some really big stores over in the USA. We have some really big stores here in Aussie too but not where I live. I’m limited to 3 stores or if I go to another town there is a lot but cos I don’t drive anymore it’s difficult to get to them but I usually find a way to get to a few. I love the way you used the basket as a riser it looks awesome and the picnic basket was a great find also. I think it’s time I went out thrifting again over the next few days. Whitney, I haven't been to a thrift shop in a few months. I'm trying to purge what I have through donations. Felt like a Horder had way too much stuff that I was not using. There were too many items coming in, and nothing was going out. Now that I did that. I can pick up some items for the fall and Christmas. Thank you for sharing.

All the clocks in my house are actually from Hobby Lobby! Their style and price is always great for what I need ♥️
That bad thing about shavers and good wheels they want to sell things now like if they were new I also noticed that they put things on the dollar tree a lot more expensive

Love thrifting, thanks for your advice! What is your go to way of cleaning flowers when you buy thrifted, like the hydrangeas you bought without losing their color?
I spray those with the Lysol as well and it works great. I also give them a light shake to remove any dust
