    Usetool's warnings
    - Once the operation is completed, you'll need pump slowly on the brake pedal a few times until feeling a strong resistance from the pedal. The aim being to bring the brake pads closer to one other.
    - Drive smoothly and avoid sudden braking for the first 50 kilometres or so to avoid glazing the new pads.
    - Make sure to check the stability of your vehicle before starting the operation.
    - Don't burn yourself on the pads if you've just gone for a drive as braking creates friction and long-lasting heat.
    Usetool's infos
    - When replacing brake discs, you also need to replace the brake pads. This is a mandatory procedure.
    - What do we mean by "glazing new brake pads"?
    - Break pads are made of a material that needs to be run-in when new. If this procedure is not done properly, when braking too hard, the material overheats and hardens. Consequently, the brakes become less effective.

    A nice, clear, video with simple explanation and none of the annoying Americanisms that ruin so many other video clips.
    Thank you

    One of the few videos that mention cleaning and the use of copper slip. Bravo!

    When putting the wheels back on NEVER tighten the bolts or lugs fully until the wheels are on the ground.
    Snug in the air, torqued on the ground.

    Is it the same for a 500L?

    • @unyimeakn9615
      @unyimeakn9615 4 роки тому

      Great question. Because it seems like some of the break pads comes with a cable. What is that for?

    • @Chris1ar
      @Chris1ar 3 роки тому +1

      @@unyimeakn9615 some of the later and more spec'd up models have a wear indicator on the dash, and the more basic ones don't. The cable is the connection to the loom if the car has it. I'd take a wheel off and have a look first, as i've been caught out.

    no need to bleed the breaks?

      No the brake fluid system was never opened. They just open the reservoir cap because when you push the pistons in the fluid retreats back into the reservoir.

      It is not grease. It is a copper anti seize compound and may be applied very liberally.

      Puts a barrier between it so next time it has to be replaced it wont get stuck onto it

    These cars are a piece of shit, I’ve had nothing but trouble from my wife’s 2012 Fiat 500 pop. I try to do the front brake job myself instead of taking it to a shop and the two bolts that hold the rotor onto the hub both snapped. My wife’s Fiat has 80,000 miles, so far we have replace the passenger side window motor the driver side door handle the transmission cable the rear wiper motor and the sunroof motor and also the rear defroster went out. Do not buy these cars!!!!!

      Haha, we have a second Fiat 500 (2007 and 2019) and before that a Fiat Panda (2005). They are simple and very reliable cars. There are almost no faults, the engines are indestructible and spare parts are cheap. Or do you think we'll buy the same car 3 times if it's no good? Most cars are only as reliable as the owner takes care of them...

      @@koblih69 Im a car nut, im very anal about preventive maintenance on my vehicles, I just got our Fiat back again after we replaced the timing belt at 120,000 miles and had the rear wiring harness replaced so the back hatch will work again, we are going to drive this car into the ground and buy something else more reliable.
