Socials make it so tricky to communicate accurately. I think you’re amazing in the amount you get done (absolutely legitimately of course!) and that’s why you’re so fun to follow! (I love your insight and self-awareness, your ethics, and the way you use your channel to bring people joy!) 🥰
Aww, Jessica! Thank you for the incredibly kind words, that means the world to me! I’m so inspired by how you bring joy to others on your channel 💛 And you’re so right about tone and social media - sometimes it’s easier for me to read when it’s people I’ve chatted with before and know where their hearts are. I’ll keep trying to assume the best of people, though!
Mindy is a huge boaster! Also, she expects everything for free. I used to enjoy watching her, but now I just can’t. You’re real and very genuine. Great job! ❤️
That hasn’t been my experience or impression of Mindy at all, but I know tone can be hard to read over UA-cam videos. I always try to assume the very best in people, and it’s okay if there are channels you enjoy watching more than others! I’m just grateful there’s room for all of us at the table 💛
OMG! You’re hitting on so many good points. I totally am turned off by those people that basically give people the middle finger! It’s very ignorant, and childish.
I definitely understand about not having a separate crafting space. I diamond paint on my dining room table. My 19 month old son is constantly trying to get to my paintings. He has succeeded in pulling my canvas off the table. Just today he pulled my containter of drills onto the floor. I constantly have to put my crafting stuff out of reach. He also loves to throw his toys onto the table while I am diamond painting. Suffice it to say, I usually only diamond paint when he is sleeping. I too have the holiday blues. I don't feel in the Christmas Spirit at all. We aren't goint to put up a tree because my son would probably destroy it. I don't really feel like purchasing any gifts. The largest diamond painting I have completed is 100 x 80. It took me a litte over 6 weeks to finish. After I finished that painting, I vowed to never buy one that big again. Yeah, that did not last long. I purchased Treasures of the Great Outdoors by Chuck Pinson. I think I had a temporary moment of forgetfulnes. After that purchase, I made the vow again. But I was really tempted by Inspiration of Spring Meadows. It was the one painting that I decided that I would purchase if Diamond Art Club ever turned it into a diamond paiting. Luckily, it sold out from under me while I had it in my cart. I consider that a blessing in disguise, because I don't really want to purchase anymore landscape paintings. One, because I don't think they look as good as the original artwork. Two, because I don't want to spend that much time on a diamond painting. There are so many that I want to work on.
Oh my gosh, Kris, you have your hands full with a little one, too! And their reach only gets longer as they get older 😂 I’m sorry you’re feeling the holiday blues too. We finally put up our tree, but I don’t want to put any ornaments on it because I’m sure my toddler will knock it over at some point 🤷🏻♀️ Wow! 100x80 in 6 weeks is so fast, nicely done! Ooh, those Chuck Pinsons are massive but beautiful. I’m with you - landscapes generally aren’t my favorite, but they look so pretty on the website that it’s hard to say no 😂 Someday we’ll get through our stashes, right?
What a great chat. I think as you said it’s important to have balance. That’s what I like about your content, it’s a mix up of unboxings/happy mail and etc. I look forward to your multiplacing tips. Let’s be honest most of us love seeing what people get. If I am being honest a lot things I purchase are due to watching what you and others have snagged. So I say keep “boasting”, jk I know you aren’t boasting. The way I see it is your excited! I honestly do not have any friends or family interested in my diamond paintings. There isn’t anyone happy I snagged a kit I was hoping to get, so I look forward to videos and live content from you and others. It takes a lot to be able to put yourself and your opinions out there.
Thank you for your sweet and kind words, Taryn! Oh gosh, that’s exactly how I came to be a part of the diamond painting community too - my family and friends don’t reeeally care about all the tiny details and things about diamond painting, which I’d happily talk about all day 😂 I love this community and sharing the excitement of fun new things (and enabling each other, haha!)
That multiplacer definitely is a learning curve (no pun intended). Its crazy how similar we are in certain aspects. I give people the benefit of the doubt all the time. I'm far too trusting until I get a reason to think otherwise. I love your big words, it is part of who you are. I'm full of cuss words hahaha. Virtual learning, at any age, seems to suck. I'm struggling too. And pandemic holiday blues seem to be a very real thing. Spending all of our birthdays and Thanksgiving alone was hard, but I try to focus on thr good things and the new memories. It helps, but doesn't cure. So many hugs
I’m sorry friend, I know the past month or two have been extra tough for your family with birthdays and holidays all landing. So many hugs to you too! And I love the things we have in common, and the ways we’re different! I swear...sometimes 😂 And I still think there’s a difference between your attitude, and the one I was trying to talk about. You’re empathetic and you are open to hearing constructive feedback. Also, your heart is golden and I wouldn’t want you to change a thing!
As always, I love your WIP and chats! And I love how much you love your pens! 🤗🤗 Don’t worry! I won’t tell Matt about dropping your pen if you don’t tell him about the numerous times I’ve dropped mine. 😬😬😬 I definitely feel you on the holiday blues. I’ve felt that way for years now, and it seems to get worse as the years go on, but there’s something especially rough about this year. I’m sure it’s knowing that, no matter what, it’s not going to look like all the Christmases we’ve had before. It could be because I know you pretty well, but I know you are thoughtful about your purchases, so that could be why you never come off as boastful to me. I can’t really think of too many big oops, aside from the occasional spill we all have. I did receive a kit from China that was the canvas was pretty wrinkled and had horrible rivers in it. I’ve seen people talk about ironing it and doing other things to try to rectify it. I definitely made it worse! 🙈🙈🙈🙈
Haha! It speaks to the craftsmanship that they didn’t break when we dropped them, right? 🙈 Still, don’t tell him! I hope your holidays turn up, friend. It’s such a weird, emotional time of year. Well, at least it was a cheaper kit? 😬 I’ve heard about tricks to get wrinkles out, but I’m terrified to try most of them on this giant JoWall canvas because I’m sure I’ll ruin it!
I like seeing other people share unboxings/happy mail. For me, the joyous reactions can be ‘contagious’ and I also get to see things I wouldn’t have otherwise. I think the balance is in sharing vs “look at me”. Hope that makes sense! Tone IS very difficult to interpret in writing. Everyone communicates differently and perception is often reality for most. I struggle with putting thoughts on paper without getting wordy so I think I understand where you’re coming from on this? Yay, a crafty desk! I hope this works out with your little 🌪! I’m so bad about starting multiple craft projects at the same time 🙈. I think it’s having the variety (round vs square, bright vs dark), but I do this with all of my crafts. I had no idea they actually use clothespins to make the cookies 😂. What’s your favorite kind of cookie? P.s. I placed my first sparklers order. I blame you and Steph 😊
Kara, I always love your thoughtful comments! I totally hear you about that balance in sharing, and struggling to convey and interpret tone well! You know, I keep going back and forth on if I like having multiple projects going! How many WIPS do you have going at the moment? 😂 Hooray for your first sparklers order!! Steph is the root of both our orders 😂 I can’t wait to see what you ordered!!
@@DiamondsandWashi I guess we need to define WIP first 🤣 If I count canvases with even just a few drills placed then I have 7 🙈. I’m only actively working on two: Festive Fireplace and Hope Runs Deep which I’m posting in the FB group. I have one other kitted up but I haven’t placed any drills yet! Your progress on Hope Runs Deep is looking amazing! Do you feel like the wintry picturesque town is helping with your Christmas spirit?
I should just write in a notebook and then gather my thoughts. Stand in your convictions. I think, and correct me if I'm wrong, that you aren't turned off by people who know who they are and what they believe in, but rather the approach they take in conveying that...
Yes, that’s mostly it. It’s kind of a subtle thing? Like, where is their heart in it, and how are they treating others around them. I have a hard time describing it.
Hey girl, hey! Always enjoy your wip n chat. So excited for you about the crafting desk. Woo hoo! It’s so funny that you mentioned that “The Knight“ looks like it has been removed from Etsy. I noticed the same thing and was going to contact you. Still working on picking out some new skin tones for her. Looks like I’m going to be able to return the peachy-orange drills and get my money back, so I’m happy about that. You never come across as braggadocious to me. I love when you share unboxings. I also think it’s weird about the message you received. Some ppl take diamond painting so seriously. 😂 I’m like, “seriously”? Oh well. As far as motivation, medication, and the holidays. I get it. Just remember to breathe and take one day at a time. We love ya. Just know you have support and ppl in your court. Hugs!
Randee! Heyyyy 😄 You’re always so encouraging and thoughtful, and I so appreciate that about you! I’m really glad to hear that about the peachy drills. Thank goodness! I hope you’re able to find others from a much closer dye lot 🤞🏻 These skin tones have been giving us a tough go of it lately! I definitely did a double-take when I read that message. Maybe English was their second language? And really, even if I’d just misspoken, was it really that serious? 🤷🏻♀️ Oh well! Part of communication online, I guess. Thanks friend 💛 Always love seeing you here!
I recently found your channel and absolutely love it! You're voice is very calming, but to be honest, the reason you've quickly jumped to my list of faves is because of who you are. Obviously I don't know you at all, but you come off as very respectful yet truthful, and are very gracious about people & companies. It's unbelievably 'refreshing' if that makes sense...( You have a positive energy that reminds me a lot of Tiny Worlds of Wonder!) I too am on meds for anxiety/depression and I enjoy how open you are with the subject, without coming off as super negative. Also, I started Space Letterman II recently... In a different video, I had asked if you started her yet, because I was wondering if her skin tones could be a bit red as well, but now that I got to her face, I think the colors are perfect- it really fits in with the overall color palette of the piece ( I put a pic up on IG- which I'm new to and fumbling to learn my way around!) So 2 thumbs up from me- you don't come off as anything even close to boastful!
Oh my goodness, Kristin, thank you for the incredibly kind and encouraging words! That really made my day 🥰 And Jessica/Tiny Worlds of Wonder is one of my very favorite people and channels, so I’m beyond flattered that I might remind you of her! And thank you for sharing about your own mental health journey - there can be such a stigma there, but I hope that sharing openly about it can help. Ooh, I’m so happy to hear about Space Letterman II! I’d love to follow you over on IG - what’s your handle? I looked for “Kristin” but I see a few and want to make sure I can find you ☺️ Thank you for being here!!
Oh yea- I'm only using IG for diamond painting since no people in my physical life are into dp! (I keep facebook for them!) I'm following you with the name kcdp2020!
I can kind of explain the side of I am who I am take it or leave it thing that some people do, for me especially it's a way to communicate very strong boundaries, and I do not do well with people trying to destroy things I am joyful about. If people see that as boasting that to me sounds like a you problem not a me problem. I can't control how people perceive a situation nor is it my job to console their jealousy ( which in my opinion stems from insecurity), I can only control what I say and how I react to things. And in the second part to that I believe in leaving no one wondering where exactly I stand on things, or where they stand with me. So a huge part of the reason people do that is because they have firm boundaries, whether because they have had to learn that to overcome being the type of person who is a people pleaser ( I was that and it was very mentally draining and I could never say no), or they just have always had the confidence to say this is my boundary and I don't need or want you crossing it because it infringes on my mental peace. But this is just my opinion on that stance. I also at one time couldn't wrap my head around that kind of attitude but after a lot of intensive therapy to learn to set boundaries I understand it more.
Hi Krystal! Thank you for sharing your perspective and experience, and for being so open about it! I hear you, and I think you make a lot of valid points, some that I hadn’t thought of. I’m always grateful when someone helps me broaden my perspective, so thank you! For what it’s worth, I did want to say that what I’d shared about boasting was totally separate from what I was saying about the “take me or leave me” approach. I wouldn’t at all want to destroy what brings someone joy! I wanted to explore the idea of, is there a line between having a boastful attitude and just sharing your excitement? And then, in a totally different and mostly unrelated conversation topic, talk about the different mentalities people have as far as “If you don’t like me, too bad so sad” and “I want to hear your feedback” I hope that makes sense. I think boundaries are a totally healthy and necessary thing, and it sounds like you’re in a good place for being able to take care of yourself and keep yourself in a healthy headspace.
@@DiamondsandWashi I definitely was not always in that space I grew up with a lot of toxicity and abuse which led me to being a people pleaser and a person who couldn’t say no. I’m glad I can now.
This year all days seem to mesh together. That’s part of why I’m not in a holiday mood (and yes I’m on medication too). Another reason is it will be the first Christmas without my dad... It’s about balance I think. Some accounts seem to post purchases every day. Then I’m going to skip over them. I don’t get that vibe from you though. I don’t post everything I buy, I will do it if I bought it from a small business. I add all the details to promote them a bit!
Oh friend, I’m so sorry for your loss. I’ll be thinking of you in this difficult season 💛 And I hear you! I’m very much on the same page - I love promoting small businesses where I can, while not overwhelming my feed with every order I place and package that comes in. In part because, like you said, people will just skip right over that once you get to that point.
I’m working on this canvas too. I had hoped to finish it by the end of the month but it’s not gonna happen. Lots of stuff going on with Christmas etc. On the large canvases I always divide with washi tape.
You are definitely not alone when it comes to the COVID holiday blues. I didn’t decorate for fall either and I just put up my Xmas tree today. I had to force myself for my son’s sake. I am so not feeling it. Also, I don’t find your happy mail boastful at all. Especially since you actually use what you buy. You’re sharing to share products you love not just to have something to post about. Big and obvious difference. As for the oops, I can’t think of any big ones, but I know there have been some. You might remember better than me! 😆 Other than placing drills on the wrong symbol, I’d say my biggest mistake was going crazy buying kits at the start of this. I bought things just because they were in stock. And buying unlicensed kits before I knew about the issue. Now I’m stuck with having a bunch I need to destash and it’s a pain, not to mention the financial strain. 😕
I hear you, friend. It’s hard when there’s the added pressure we put on ourselves, as moms, to make sure our kids have the perfect holiday experience. Give yourself so much grace! And thank you - I try to show happy mail as part of sharing new things I’ve found, and sharing my thoughts after actually using them, just to be helpful! Ooh, I feel your pain on going a little overboard when I started this hobby in the spring! I definitely bought a bunch of DAC kits just because they came back into stock, not because I love them. And there are several I really don’t think I’ll ever get to 😕
Totally! It’s not too much more than it was on Black Friday, at the moment! www.michaels.com/arts-and-crafts-creative-center-by-artists-loft/10299013.html
Part 2 of my comment : I am still not really feeling Christmas right now, I thought if I started a Christmas diamond painting I would be more excited, but unfortunately I am not. The way I see it it’s okay to just be right now. I did end up sending cards but still not in the spirit.
I’m sorry that you’re feeling the holiday blah, too. I’m with you in trying to be okay with just...being where we’re at, right now. I hope we both start feeling more in the Christmas spirit, soon 💛
That's a weird message to get in my opinion. People are strange. I'm going at a faster than normal pace on my DAC too so sorry for my progress lol. My biggest oops is putting what I thought was parchment squares (it was sold as that) on my first chuck pinson. I still have to fix it and I'm still bummed. As for showing off I did but not to brag on IG it's because I never bought so many at one time and I was excited but a little embarrassed at the same time. I'm also only buying 1 more for the foreseeable future so I guess that's my excuse. I love to see what people get I'm always happy for them I guess i never thought of it as bragging because of how excited and thankful I am when I can get stuff. Also we are not doing Xmas so I got myself presents lol
It was such a weird message! And yes, doesn’t it seem like some kits just go faster than others? 🤷🏻♀️ Oh no! I’m so sorry to hear about the not-parchment square accident. Not that you asked, but have you tried using baby wipes to lightly clean them off? It will likely take some time, but it will hopefully get the wax paper off and if you leave it out to dry a bit, the glue should be good as new 🤞🏻 And I think there’s totally a difference between sharing hauls and whatnot because you’re excited (because of course we all know that feeling!!) and that being almost the only thing you post. I’m sure that you weren’t doing it to brag, and there’s totally an attitude difference there. I hope you didn’t feel like I was calling you out, because I definitely wasn’t 💛
@@DiamondsandWashi oh no I didn't take it personal but just though eh um I just did that with two orders and my very first hand turned pens and paddywax are coming so I'm sharing them lol. I tried the wipes most the paper eventually came off but it's weird not wax paper but coated so I bought diamond dotz glue and I'll fix it that way. Eventually lol it's a beautiful image but I'm too excited with my new ones for now lol. I hope you have a wonderful day/night. Look forward to your next video 🙂

And then, in a totally different and mostly unrelated conversation topic, talk about the different mentalities people have as far as “If you don’t like me, too bad so sad” and “I want to hear your feedback”
I hope that makes sense.
I’ll be thinking of you in this difficult season 💛
And I hear you!
Thankfully there’s no rush! I hope you have the chance to rest and recup a bit after the hustle and bustle of the holidays!
And there are several I really don’t think I’ll ever get to 😕
I spilled drills all over my uncovered section 3x in one day. That was a sign to stop
Oof. Yep, I’d take that as a sign too!
Do you have a link to that Michael's table? I know the price will be different but sounds great for me as well!
Totally! It’s not too much more than it was on Black Friday, at the moment! www.michaels.com/arts-and-crafts-creative-center-by-artists-loft/10299013.html
Thank you!💗
Where did you get the sticky tac for you placers at?, the white cub
I ordered it from Amazon! It’s called “Quake Hold museum putty” and I love using it in my multiplacers. It’s very inexpensive, too!
@@DiamondsandWashi thank you for getting back to me
@@DiamondsandWashi I just ordered it!
It will likely take some time, but it will hopefully get the wax paper off and if you leave it out to dry a bit, the glue should be good as new 🤞🏻
And I think there’s totally a difference between sharing hauls and whatnot because you’re excited (because of course we all know that feeling!!) and that being almost the only thing you post.
