  • In this video I review and test the Yantu battery tire inflator. One of the situations I wanted to test with this device was if it could re-inflate four Land Rover tires after airing them down for extra grip. This is a POV style video - let me know in the comments what you think about the format.

    A quick review is all well and good. The main issue with these unknown brand products is battery longevity. Will it still be working after a couple of years.

    • @BenVallack
      @BenVallack  7 місяців тому +2

      Absolutely. I think the main issue with this kind of device is you want it sat at 100% so it’s ready for use. And we know that destroys lithium ion batteries. Really LFP would be the best battery for these kinds of units.

      Great video. Thanks for discussing your car swap out. I was wondering. My son has a Makita tyre inflater using the Makita battery. It works really well. For me the key point is the accuracy of the pressure gauge.

    I’d be concerned with how long the battery lasts sat around, I do have a small handheld one for balls and bike tyres which to be honest has been going a few years with about 10 charges.
    Wonder if this is something you could keep connected in the boot 12v lighter socket to keep the charge on full?

    • @BenVallack
      @BenVallack  7 місяців тому +1

      I think the issue is keeping a lithium ion battery at 100% (if it's being charged or not) will degrade it fairly quickly. It's almost worth avoiding it getting to 100% for most uses. Then if you're going somewhere you think you might need all the battery, give it a 100% charge.

    Wait...did I just hear that correctly? You swapped the Tesla for a Leaf and the Discovery? I had to rewind. Not interested in the future FSD capabilities and what that would do to the value of owing a Tesla long term in comparison to the 2 cars you now have? Would be interested to know your thoughts. Love your channel by the way, great content!

    • @BenVallack
      @BenVallack  7 місяців тому +5

      Yeah :) more of a financially lead decision due to having a loft conversion. I justified the Tesla based on long term ROI and that’s now much harder to get past the family when you can get a Leaf for £11k that does all our local miles at the same per mile cost. I do hope to come back to Tesla at some stage though!!

      @@norgtubelol true. I think even if they get there I don’t think it’s ever going to be allowed without the ‘driver in control’. No one will agree on who’s to blame if something goes wrong so it’s always going to be the human in the front.

      @@BenVallack Europe can be quite different about these thing, but America will gladly be the guinea pig. The land of capitalism can't ignore the profits that would come from having 18wheelers being full autonomous. So naturally, the cars will be quickly approved.
      Side note, I think not knowing who to blame is pointless. I think most people can agree that the surviving driver in a car crash shouldn't have their life ruined because the accident they were in killed someone (with the exception of people who are under the influence). 46,000 people die from motor vehicle accidents each year in the U.S. and there is a very large monetary cost to these accidents, they cause traffic jams that end up reducing the country's GDP by billions of dollars a year, as well as making citizens unhappy and miserable because the few hours of the day they aren't working get wasted sitting in traffic jams. Also, a lot of our police force is wasted on policing the roads instead of focusing on things that actually matter.
      Its hard to understate just how much better the world will be with autonomous cars on the road. People won't be forced to own cars anymore because robo-taxis will be cheap methods of transportation. In the US especially, I expect that as people stop owning cars that US cities will finally start shrinking and becoming walkable cities.

      @@BenVallack I had a 2015 Leaf (which was already 2 years old) on PCP from Nissan. Kept it for 3 years before getting the Tesla. I loved the Leaf! I never had any issues with it, it had a decent size boot (pushchairs were not a problem), etc. Ours only had a range of 70 miles, but we still used it 95% of the time and our Mercedes C220d just 5% of the time.

    These are nice and compact but if It lives in the boot of a car, I'd rather go with a better unit like the milwaukee 18V. This is nice and small/cheap tho.

    I understand the relative large amount of air volume required by your tires, (given their size) however we got a cut scene everytime you inflated each tire. Can you give an estimate of how long to inflate from 18-33psi? Are we talking 5min, or 15, or 30?

    • @BenVallack
      @BenVallack  7 місяців тому +1

      Sorry I meant to add that as a title. It took 4 mins to go from 18-36 psi.

    It makes no sense to buy an internal battery powered air pump when your car in itself is an electric generator. The smart move is to buy a simple corded one + battery starter. Think before you buy.
