Recently subscribed to your channel. I am a lifetime reptile/amphibian parent and I just want to say thank you. There is not enough awareness of how to properly take care of and raise amphibians and reptiles. What you're doing is extremely important. I can rest a bit easier at night knowing you are properly educating the general public on how to properly care for these prehistoric and wonderful animals. I personally have a 25yo map turtle as well as a 17yo pond slider that were both raised since hatch-lings. I have also rescued/raised many various other reptiles. Sorry for this paragraph long comment, but I just had to express my gratitude for the awesome thing you're doing.
Hi I’m getting my first tortoise/reptile so this is all new to me should I have a tiny enclosure at first then give him his big enclosure as he gets bigger or just put him in straight away ? It will be 6 foot long 2 foot wide the species is a Russian Tortoise? Any advice would be appreciated 🙂
Hi! I also have horsefield tortoises, we started off with a smaller enclosure like the size of a small rabbit hutch as the tortoises were quite small, then as they grew bigger we got them a new cage about every 2 years. My male tortoise zippy is now 13 and my female tortoise is 12 and they live in a 5ft by 2ft enclosure. But it's okay to just give them the large enclosure first as it saves A LOT of money honestly it's your choice :) ~ hope this helps :D
I just recently got a baby box turtle and I'm trying to figure out an enclosure that won't have me cleaning every weekend. This is a great space but what do you do about cleaning out the poop?? Do you have to swap out the dirt filling every certain amount of time?
