Question, have you contacted the elementary schools in your area to teach kids about turtles? I bet they would love for you to come and show them Otis and others for education.
Hello Chris and Casey! I have the same enclosure for my leopard tortoise hatchling - he’s 9 months old. What type of humidifier/fogger would you recommend? I have really enjoyed watching you videos and I’ve learned so much. Keep crushin it! 🙂
I live in Nova Scotia, Canada. I am so very very very sad I can not get any of these awesome enclosures 😢. They look amazing! I love the videos and all of the information I am soaking up like a sponge!
After watching one of your videos about not soaking all the time, I stopped and made sure their water bowls were big enough to sit in, I noticed that they were having firmer poops and still just as active.
Great video content! Very informative. Thank you for the wonderful job you all do to save these special species . Keep it up the great work n videos 👍👍😻😻😺😺❤️❤️💜💜🙏🙏
Chris, I just have to say…yout content is awesome each and every time.. you show us your gorgeous animals as you give a live demonstration of how to assemble their habitat, and you consistently share the best care and keeping advice as you do all the rest. A new keeper of turtles, tortoises, or lizards will stand a way better chance of succeeding because of the really important information you so generously share. Many thanks.🖤🇨🇦
Your Reptile room is incredible. You have the most organized and aetheticly pleasing room I've seen out of all the Reptile content creators. All of the enclosures are so beautiful and you provide excellent care for the animals. Truly each enclosure is an art piece and it all fits together seamlessly, it's a Reptile gallory if you will. 😊
I need AT LEAST a 5ft enclosure for my 6 year old Russian tortoise (hes on the smaller side) but i cant seem to find one that big, ive looked in to building one but i dont have the capability to make it sturdy and safe and none of my friends are builders, does anyone have any suggestions because the poor guy needs a bigger enclosure!!!!
I just got one of these and set it up this week! Just waiting to make sure the humidity levels stay even before putting the tort in, so it’s just a beautiful piece of furniture right now haha
I have a baby Cherry-head Red-foot tortoise and was looking into this tortoise house. How long before I would have to move it out of this enclosure? Right now Pepper still fits in the palm of my hand 😁🐢
We have on of these for our new juvenile russian tortoise. What is the lighting that you used on this build? Does that one light have UVB and provide enough heat?
At what point would you start soaking an established tortoise? How can you tell if they are dehydrated? I don’t want to soak my tort bc it seems like it’s stressful to him, but so many guides suggest soaking regularly.
Hi Chris, I’m picking up this enclosure and am trying to figure out proper lighting for this size space. With UVB I’ve been told strip lights are better than bulbs, do you agree?
Thanks for the idea of timothy hay on the enclosed side. It saves me from having to do burrowing depth on the open side for our box turtle. He slept in it already the first night. (Went with zoo med house mainly for the enclosed side being on the left for how I wanted it by a window.)
I was considering switching to a table from a vivarium but i'm in scotland and it can get a bit too cool in winter. This looks like a midway between the two setups so i'm tempted try it out. How well does this retain heat outside of the immediate basking area?
Aivituvin needs to send you legs for all of the cages you have from them. You speak highly of them and you helped them improve there cages because of your experience
Amazing video! Would this work for 7-9 month old leopard tortoises if there's a humidifier/mister added for humidity? I want to give mine (2) more space
Is this type of enclosure too small for a Hermanns tortoise long term? I found one on the side of the road, know nothing about them so I'm learning with your videos.
Would one of these work for small box turtles? I’m in CA and I keep mine outside. I need something to bring them in when temps are over 100 and under 30
I connected two of these for a subadult and winter box turtle enclosure, and it works really well. The instructions recommended placing the hides on opposite sides if combining, but I opted to mirror them and place the two hide areas in the middle to make one large interior hide area and two open-topped areas on either end. I placed UV and heat lights on both open ends on timers; one of the open sides has a small wading pool/pond made out of a low-sided dog litter box (yes, I was surprised those exist too!) and gets misted more heavily. There is a small water soaking dish and a large basking area on the other end, allowing for a gradient throughout the enclosure from a warm, wet open area near the pond to a shaded misted area to a shaded drier area to a drier warmer open area. She self-regulates her temperature and humidity by going from one side to the other. I remove soiled water, bedding, and substrate as often as needed, usually daily for water and spot cleaning, and every few months for a full deep cleaning, light bulb change, and terrain replacement. She has a wooden vegetable feeding platform and several food dishes we rotate among with a varied diet. This encourages foraging behaviors in multiple locations that are all safe from substrate ingestion. All micro-environments have easily cleanable fake foliage to simulate a leafy forest floor ecosystem (and my turtle does not attempt to chew on them; you may have to suit your decor to your turtle’s behavior). Add some environmental enrichment items and you have a phenomenal indoor ecosystem that looks great, too!
I provide my tortoise with one water dish at one end of his enclosure and a water dish at the other end. He has designated one of them for walking through and using like a toilet and the other 1. He only ever dips his head in to drink. Is this unusual behavior? Edit to add: His drinking water dish is really near to the rock he likes to eat off of.
Hi Chris..would this enclosure be okay for a red foot? Since they need high humidity, would this wooden enclosure hold humidity well for my tortoise? Or a terrarium would be better? Thank you
I got one of these about a year ago from before they made the adjustment to the lighting set up and added the legs. I still love it though and think it’s so amazing that such a product exist let alone with such great quality. If I’m able to purchase the lighting update separately I would definitely invest in that though
U said don't soak a tortoise. I dont have a water feature for him. We have a water dish for birds but i have never seen him use it. I soak him once a week. There is a lot of moisture thru out my yard but i always rather soak him
can you make a video about maintenance of these enclosures? for example do you have to change the substrate every month if not wont the enclosure smell?
I have my 6 month old Eastern box turtle in this exact enclosure because of the last video you did on it. I wish mine had these upgrades but that's ok. My husband is a carpenter so he built me a custom stand for it and i bought an adjustable lamp post on Amazon. That's really cool they did these upgrades! That's a sign of a great company. Listening to their customers and making the proper adjustments. So cool. 🐢🤍
If you made a cup maybe twice the size of his head and mounted it on the wall a few inches above the substrate where he could see it had water in it do you think he would drink from it? I see water pooled in magnolia leaves like this and thought it could work with a supply line and drain to allow free choice on water without fouling. Make the cup removable for sanitizing. Too much?
I'd worry that'd be really unnatural for a tortoise to understand, they are kinda ground oriented and expect to find water in puddles or pools on the ground with them. I don't know if one would know what to do about water hanging in the air. They're not a drinking out of leaves sort of animal in my experience, unless those leaves are on the ground.
@lorrainemunoa791 yea fallen leaves on the ground. I feel like they are at least as intelligent as chickens and while they may not find it in the wilds I think they could be trained. Just a thought I had though not truly necessary I like to make things complex really just changing a water dish daily isn't a big deal.
@lorrainemunoa791 I was just listening to a podcast called let's talk turtles. They expressly said African hingeback tortoise drink from leaf cups! That's so cool thought you might want to know
Jeez, people can be so ridiculous. Brandisynder9765, he'll be in quarantine until his health can be verified. I'm sure they have a specific amount of days, on top of that they will check blood work and fecal matter for parasites. Once he gets a clean bill of health he will be introduced to his brethren. Hope that helps!

Could a Egyptian tortoise live in here for rest of his/her live
I live in Nova Scotia, Canada. I am so very very very sad I can not get any of these awesome enclosures 😢. They look amazing! I love the videos and all of the information I am soaking up like a sponge!
I thought Cedarwood is toxic for reptiles
Its my favorite enclosure right now. The kids can see the turtles inside and dont need to find a table or rack for the size of it. Love it
After watching one of your videos about not soaking all the time, I stopped and made sure their water bowls were big enough to sit in, I noticed that they were having firmer poops and still just as active.

Hell I just had to say it , I never knew that turtles Yawn! 73 years I never seen a turtle Yawn ! Cool
Carl, I'm 73 also and only tortoise I've ever seen do it are my redfoots.
You are old and wise men
I love that they strive to improve and they took your feedback and put it in their design.

Thank you guys for doing what you do!
This is the enclosure that we have for our tortoise, we love it.
I can’t wait to get my new baby from you in august!!
These videos are so interesting and educational.
So great to see that the big guy is doing so well!! Thank you again for taking him and for all that you do!!!!
These enclosures are not only beautiful & functional, they're very affordable, too. And with GST's discount, even more of a bargain. ❤
I just got one of these and set it up this week! Just waiting to make sure the humidity levels stay even before putting the tort in, so it’s just a beautiful piece of furniture right now haha
Fantastic enclosure
We need legs for our pre bought versions please 🙏🏽 to match up with this
I have that identical unit for my juvenile cherry heads. I put them out during the day
I’m pulling for this little guy! Please keep us posted❤
is this one too big for a hatchling?
I have a baby Cherry-head Red-foot tortoise and was looking into this tortoise house. How long before I would have to move it out of this enclosure? Right now Pepper still fits in the palm of my hand 😁🐢

I’m possibly going to buy a tortoise and need some fake plants for the enclosure that aren’t toxic, would you mind telling me what you used?
Thanks for this!
Could you do a video someday going over UVB more in depth? Would also love to see more on red footed tortoises!
Is this type of enclosure too small for a Hermanns tortoise long term? I found one on the side of the road, know nothing about them so I'm learning with your videos.
Now all it needs are wheels!

That’s so awesome that the company made the changes and it looks like they have a much better product because of it!❤
I want to keep my tortoise in side in one of those tortoise box's, so how do I put a heat lamp & UV lamp. And watering the tortoise.
I provide my tortoise with one water dish at one end of his enclosure and a water dish at the other end. He has designated one of them for walking through and using like a toilet and the other 1. He only ever dips his head in to drink. Is this unusual behavior?

The glass protector was the most irritating thing in the whole build when I got mine....
@GardenStateTortoise can I use this for a Russian Tortoise? Thanks in advance
What a lovely tortoise 😍 He’s very lucky to have you guys as his new guardians!
In the beginning of the video you mention not using this for hatchlings, is there a reason why?
if this is my healthy turtles' normal housing, how do i go about with the water dish situation?
What size indoor enclosure would a Russian tortoise need ?
Does it smell is it easy to clean I just got my kids a Russian tortoise
Do you think this is suitable for a Russian tortoise throughout its entire life?
Hey, planning on getting a tortoise any idea on what species can live here?
Can you do a video on combining it with 2 or more ?
What is best for my 5 week old sulcata tortoise?
I just want a wee cheeky friendly mate they are so awesome
Its type “ Núi Vàng “ in Việt Nam, which is regular type. Find type “ rùa lá tam đảo “ , Tam Dao leaf tortoise, its unique type you ever seen
Hello, is it okay to keep an adult russian tortoise in here ?
Can i use this for russian tortoise?
Hi Chris..would this enclosure be okay for a red foot? Since they need high humidity, would this wooden enclosure hold humidity well for my tortoise? Or a terrarium would be better? Thank you
I have this for my rescued horsfield. Soon I'm getting another one to combine them and expand the enclosure.
Just bought one after watching your video! Thanks so much! My tortoises are going to love their winter home lol!
do they ship to the middle east?
Sucks, they only deliver in America
Thanks! Just got a tortoise from my sister and this video helped me a lot!
Thank you so much for your sharing. We always love your video
These are great little enclosures. I have one in my garage for cold Florida nights and my red foot loves it.
I got one of these about a year ago from before they made the adjustment to the lighting set up and added the legs. I still love it though and think it’s so amazing that such a product exist let alone with such great quality.

There's no way that heat lamp is getting that basking area over 75F.
If you use these for successive animals, paint or otherwise seal the inside so that you can fully sanitize the enclosure between animals.
can you make a video about maintenance of these enclosures? for example do you have to change the substrate every month if not wont the enclosure smell?
I would love to be able to buy the legs for my enclosure I already have. That would be awesome if they offered that.
I have my 6 month old Eastern box turtle in this exact enclosure because of the last video you did on it. I wish mine had these upgrades but that's ok. How often is it advised to replace/clean substrate mixtures?
Are you doing a panacur treatment or de wormer as well?
Dude I love so much because you really did help me in raising tortoise
If you combined 2 of these could it house a full grown red foot or would this be not wide enough and to short ?
I have baby sulcata tortoise do they need a night heat lamp?
What’s the link to purchase the enclosure
Do you not advise to soak hatchlings?
Why is it wrong for hatchlings ?
Another great informative video

I think they said several months in the video
