I don't typically like reptibark because it is a firmer substrate, but many people use it for tortioses. I absolutely love Coconut Fiber/Husk (Eco Earth) because it's what my snek Orzo LOVES to dig in and make tunnels. It holds moisture very well, except in Cinnamon's cage the lid ventilation was garbage and it ended up becoming a mess of sludgy water. It was gross. Be careful to always check (if you are completely soaking the substrate) that it is not dripping wet at all times. What I do for Orzo is I have a plastic water bottle that has a small cap on it that allows the water to drip rather than pour, thank goodness I kept the bottle, but I like to wet it and then mix it around until all the new water is soaked completely into the substrate so there is no water on the bottom of the tank. It is fine if there's a teeny amount here and there, but you want the substrate to be dry yet damp at the same time. Sometimes, if Orzo's substrate is getting old and it needs to be changed out it will collect little hairs and stuff in it (really gross but it shows it's not sogging wet). Thanks! -Olivia
I volunteer at a reptile store and my boss told me not to use the repti bark because it can cause mites and it colors your animals. I used to have it for my 2 red footed tortoises and the bottom of their shells were kind of orange and you can see the discoloration on the bag. Use cypress mulch it is the best for your tortoise
With Rudolph now in a closed chamber setup, you could probably lose the log humid hide and just bump up the entire enclosure’s humidity to 80%. As long as you keep the temps above 80F, humidity will not cause RI issues. This should help his shell grow out smooth and stop the pyramiding he already has. I would be careful with that log hide since they tend to mold with high humidity. Also that water dish with the ramp, the sides can be tipping hazards so just make sure there’s something on both sides to keep him from trying to climb up and tipping on the edges.
@@tyronebiggums1 since the guy isn't responding, I don't recommend that type of cage for adult tortoises but if you go on ebay or amazon and search "two story tortoise enclosure with balcony" and there's a 4ft by 2ft one or 3ft by 2ft if the other is too big :)
Tyler Jacob Wolfy I would recommend greens, especially kale they love it I have two and I mix about 5 greens together and give them half greens and have fruit, like papaya mango, and strawberries occasionally twice a week and they love it.
Would you share what would be a comfortable temperature 🌡️(heat and cold) for 7 year old tortoise 🐢 inside the enclosure or when he is outside in the backyard?
Tykke Jim I feel like the glass or live plants won’t last in there. Because of the heat and he will eat them. In the future for sure when he is an adult I will put him outside with live plants and grass
Hey since u just upgraded Rudolph’s enclosure, maybe u should get him a girlfriend so when he gets older u could breed them. Also can we have a video on an update on ur old sulcata tortoise baby if u still know who owns him.
One of the best tortoise enclosure that I've seen so far. I'm definitely copying the idea with some changes. Job well done 👍
I would recommend feeding your tortoise dandelions as a treat because mine goes mad for them
mine too
Andreja Horvat liar
Especially when you combine clovers with them
Rob Samways I give my tortoise dandelions a lot aswell but it’s just preference my tortoise’s favourite is carrot so I give him that as a treat
@@gdfkpmw1803 you don't know if he's lying shut your mouth

Love dis video 100 000 likes for you and your tortoise
Instead of the food bowl, put a piece of slate where his food can go. This helps to trim his beak and nails, helping him feel more comfortable.

I didnt think about putting a shower curtain in my enclosure. And i have a blue tongue skink that requres 80+ humidity ,😣
Jenn Sanchez If you used melamine you should be fine. It’s water resistant and the substrate should not be wet anyways, just the air. Hope I helped!

Reptile island here in Southern California
How many times does he eat per day?
Which species of tortoise 🐢
