- Here's an easy way to get a great deal on seiko watches. Get a seiko in good shape that's not running and do a movement swap!

Somehow, I missed the part, where you changed the o-ring on the crown as well as the case back gasket. Or at least regreased those ... 😢

good luck finding a faulty 007, i found 0 now. i seartch for "faulty seiko" it was reaally old vintage stuff.
Be patient, they're out there. Also use keywords like "needs work", "watchsmith", "watchmaker".... they pop up from time to time.
Nice work. I’m not a fan of people modding these beyond a movement swap: replacing the 7s26 with a 4R16 / NH36 daydate with hack and hand wind.
I modded a 38mm 5KX by transplanting the movement, dial, and hands into a SKX013 dive case, thereby gaining a screw down crown, 200m of WR, and a SKX013 bezel insert with lume pip. Came out great. I essentially transformed a Seiko diver-style watch into a true diver.
I had mine service last year for about $150. Many would say it wasn’t worth it but right now I can get 3 times what I paid for it. And given the popularity, I assume it will continue to appreciate.

I've been looking for another SKX to mod. This one is staying all original. Stay tuned... Im trying to hunt down one that's as beat as I can find.
I think most are aware you can buy a dead 007 and swap the movement. I see them sell for not much less than working ones tbh
This one was less than half what functioning one in the same condition would have cost, and it came with box and papers...

Here (Ireland) I've seen they going up to 700 euros for some reason.
What movement you have used ?
700 is what you pay for a well-preserved and functional SKX.
Right now I could get a defective SKX007 for 175 euros (which is already a lot. A new 7s26 movement costs about 25 to 50 euros. All in all, that would be a really good price for an SKX.
The prices being asked for a working used SKX are ridiculous. For under 250 euros you can get a new Citizen Promaster Diver with hacking and manual winding, which is superior to the SKX.
Of course, you could also give the defective SKX an NH movement with an adapter.
Or you get a SKX-homage from Long Island Watches for $299, the better SKX.
At that point just get a new Seiko diver lol

Yeah, one moment, please. If you are not familiar with mounting watch hands, this can be a huge challenge. Don't lose patience. The first two hands are relatively easy. The seconds hand, not so much. Good luck! 😊
I've definitely uttered a few choice words over second hands.... I'd say practice makes perfect, but I still dread mounting second hands.

@@JohnnyJohnJon83 Was about to suggest the same thing. The SKX013 is a little smaller than the 007, I have a 7 inch wrist and the I wouldn't want anything larger than the 007.

Not on this one, went with the original 7S26C. Im hunting down another skx to mod, stay tuned!
