Hello! Thank you for mentioning Ann Normandy Design PDF sewing patterns in your comment section. It's an honor to be included with some very talented indie designers! 2024 is the year that I will be extending my sizes to include sizes XL - 6X. Bust 46" - 66.5"; Waist 40" - 60""; Hips 47.5" - 67.5". Stay tuned! Thank you again! - Kim
That's a great idea for a video series. I discovered Indie companies during 2020 when we could not buy printed patterns in Canada. I have sewn many garments from 5outof4 and she is one of my favourites. Her designs are well drafted, the instructions are excellent and many of her patterns have multiple options. I have sewn the Nancy Raglan dress and top multiple times and I think it would suit you too. Thanks sew much for another excellent video.
Wow so many choices ! Never knew there were so many Indie Designers, so interesting. You are on a mission. Love your enthusisiam . Thank you for educating me and all your research. 😅
I love this new series! I had no idea there were so many indie pattern companies. Telling us how many patterns they have is very helpful. I’ve actually only heard of 3-4 of the ones you mentioned.
Michelle, this is going to be a great series to watch. Because I didn't realize there were so many indie patterns out there! Have a blessed week, and happy sewing!🧵
Hi Michelle, Alina Design Co has layers for their PDF. I can also say that the Patti Pocket Skirt is different from the Peppermint Pocket Skirt because it has a fitted waist with an invisible side zipper. The Patti also has significantly wider pockets that go into beautiful massive pleats. I love both skirts but Patti is more involved/polished. A pattern company that you missed is Alissah Threads. I love the Valdivia Sweater. 31-52" bust, 25-46" waist, 36-55" hip. This was a fun roundup. I'll be following along!
Thanks for the update on the Alina layers! I guess since I'm not a skirt person those two looked almost the same to me - but I understand the differences - thanks so much for sharing that! 😊. And thanks for sharing Alissah Threads! I'll be sure to add them to the pinned comment 🌸
Lindsay from Inside The Hem has done several in depth videos featuring one Indie pattern company per episode and there’s some real gems that I hadn’t heard of before. Also, Steph Sewn is doing a similar series on her channel going by country, she’s done France, Norway and Denmark and I’ve been enjoying those so A to Z is also a great idea that I’m excited about. Lisa from And Sew On has done some great features on some further afield ones too in her free pattern videos, sew many resources like these are win win for these designers who work so hard behind the seams and us and I can’t wait to see the other goodies you’ve found, thank you!
Love the consistent format. We are getting all the important info without the fluff. I have already found one I want to try!! Lovely seeing you my friend. ❤
Thank you so much for taking the time and trouble to do this series Michelle. I’ll be sure to have my notepad and pen ready next time as I’ll have to make notes of all the ones I am interested in. The Atelier Scammit dress is my favourite of today’s choices, and it looks like a few others like it too You may have started something! I’m loving your latest makes, you look amazing. ❤
Thank you so much Maggie! It is a little bit of research work but I'm having fun doing it! I love discovering new designers and new patterns 😊. I'm so glad you enjoyed the video!
This is great Michelle. I always enjoy hearing about different Indie pattern companies. My favorite of the ones you mentioned is Atelier Jupe. I have sewn several of their patterns. That's what is on my sewing table right now. There is a pattern company you missed. The fabric company Atelier Brunette also has sewing patterns. I have never tried one of their patterns but recently saw someone else feature one in a video. Have fun with this series, and have a great day. ❤😊
I'm so glad to hear a positive review of Atelier Jupe - I'll have to go look at their patterns and see if there is something I want to try now! Thank you SO much for the info on Atelier Brunette - I DID know they sold fabric, I did NOT know they had their own patterns! I'll add them to the pinned comment. Thanks so much for watching!
I've made several of the 5oo4 patterns. Love them. I want to try a couple you mentioned, especially the last two companies. THank you for a fun video and for keeping it short and sweet.
I have a feeling this series is going to impact my wallet LOL! I really want to try that last company - that dress is so cute!! I'm so glad you enjoyed the format!!
Also Anne Normandy Designs. I have their maxi dress pattern but haven’t made it yet. Thanks for this series. There are lots here already that are new to me.
Howdy, this morning I watched a pod cast by threads and they introduced me to Style Falcon. It’s was great. I suggest you watch it and add this indie to your list. 🎉
I look for new indie pattern companies just for fun. So I like this. You even managed to find a couple that I hadn't heard of. I have a few for you. Angela Kane, Ann Normandy, and Apolline Patterns (French, but beautiful patterns.)
Hi Michelle! I think I've made all the versions of the Chi-town Chinos from Alina Design (pants, shorts, skirt). Lot's of RTW details and the instrux are great! Although it looks like you can still get the patterns, I think it's possible nothing new since the mid-teens (but still among my favorites) I'm not sure layers were a thing yet. I've got the Panama pattern, and the Hampton has been ❤'d. I don't use the layers feature, but I see it most in the 'printing instructions' part of the files. I agree, that would be a good promotion point. I like the Assembly Line patterns I've made and am just finishing up my first Avid Seamstress Blouse! This will be a really fun series!!
Hi Lynn! Sounds like you have some good experience with the first list! Can't wait to see what kind of feedback you have for the rest of them 😊. Thanks so much for sharing!
Hi Michelle, greetings from rainy Southern California. ☔️We’re supposed to be floating away any day now who needs an earthquake? This is a great series it takes lots of time. We all appreciate it thank you thank you thank you.❤🧵🧵
This is exciting to see……please can you note if there are any petite? … so far I’ve only found George and ginger…a bit trendy for me…..and Sinclair which is BRILLIANT but not many patterns but they have meant I can keep sewing rather than giving up because of the 40000 petite alterations needed! Thank you
Hi Stephanie! I'm so glad you've found this helpful :). I was intending to include the height that the patterns were drafted for but many of these small designers do not include that information on their website. I am also petite (5'1") so I would love to know this information as well!
This is a wonderful series. I appreciate all of the work you are putting into it. I have not heard of the blouse with the puffy sleeves. I might have to give it a try. I hope you make that dress I like it.
Tons of useful info, Michelle! Thank you. I would find it helpful to know what sewing cup size and height the company designs for, and if they offer multiple cup sizes. That said, I could go look that up myself with the resources you have given me….
Yes, I can see how that information would be helpful. I was actually planning on including the cup size and height that the patterns are drafted for but many of these smaller companies don't mention that. I'm glad you found it useful otherwise though!
This is great, thank you for your research. 1st video and saw some patterns I love! 😍 Hopefully I can control myself, especially since you've only started!😂
The Assembly Line. Not sure of their sizing. I've made the cuff sleeve top and the car coat. I also have one of the skirt patterns but haven't made it yet. Great series!
I do from time to time join cashmerett only when the pattern suits me. I’m interested in this month pattern so I did rejoin this month and I’m looking forward to making it.
That's interesting - I wouldn't have thought of joining and unjoining from month to month depending on the pattern - but that's a good way to do it if you don't love ALL their patterns!
Instead of printing all the size range you can choose just one size of all the range. Oh I think you have to do it from a computer. Doesn’t work from a phone.

Great roundup, Michelle. ❤ thank you!

Looking forward to learning about new designers. ❤
Me too!! 🤣

Thanks so much for your feedback on 5 out of 4! That's a rave review and I can't wait to try one of her patterns out 😊💕
Thanks for introducing Indie patterns that many of us may not be aquatinted with, this opens us up to a whole new world of sewing our own wardrobes.
Hopefully we'll all find something new to love 😊
Thank you for this ,it’s. This will be a great series and resource for us. 😍😍😍😍
I hope so! Thanks so much for watching!

So cool, Michelle! Thank you for introducing us to indie designers we may not already know about! You are the QUEEN of research! 💗
Thanks Andra! 😊💕

Which one?!?! 😊
That very last dress! Love it!! Atelier Scammit. What a strange name though.
@@pinkysfarm461 I want to make that one too!
This is going to be an amazing series Michelle! Thank you so much. Some of these I’d never heard of! 💞

😊😊😊
Oh I have been hoping for a series like this! I picked up The Act of Sewing at my local library and traced the patterns.
The 100 Act of Sewing patterns are basic but really good!
Also Anne Normandy Designs. I have their maxi dress pattern but haven’t made it yet. Thanks for this series. There are lots here already that are new to me.
Thanks so much for letting me know about Ann Normandy! I'll add her website to the pinned comment 😊
Howdy, this morning I watched a pod cast by threads and they introduced me to Style Falcon. It’s was great. I suggest you watch it and add this indie to your list. 🎉
I've added it to my list of S designers - thanks so much for the tip!
Love this ,very informative
Thanks❤
So glad you found it helpful!
This is terrific. I know you put a lot of work into it. thank you.
Thank you!
I look for new indie pattern companies just for fun. So I like this. You even managed to find a couple that I hadn't heard of. I have a few for you. Angela Kane, Ann Normandy, and Apolline Patterns (French, but beautiful patterns.)
Oops. Just saw you already had Ann Normandy.
Thanks for the additions! I'll add Angela Kane and Apolline Patterns to the list!! This is so much fun!

Hi Dotschi! Stay safe in all that rain!!! I'm glad you like the concept of this series - I hope you find a new designer you love!
Lots of great information. I don’t sew very many indies but there were some good ones here.
Glad you enjoyed! :)
Great idea! Thanks so much!
You are so welcome!
Thank you for the information!
You're welcome!

Ty Michelle for this information it helps so much 😊
You are so welcome!
This is a wonderful series. I appreciate all of the work you are putting into it. I have not heard of the blouse with the puffy sleeves. I might have to give it a try. I hope you make that dress I like it.
The Anthea blouse was all over Instagram last year - it was very popular LOL! Thanks for watching and I'm glad you like the idea for the series!!
Tons of useful info, Michelle! Thank you. I would find it helpful to know what sewing cup size and height the company designs for, and if they offer multiple cup sizes. That said, I could go look that up myself with the resources you have given me….

I haven't sewn any of these-but I like the Atelier Jupe Grace Jacket and the Atelier Scammit patterns!❤
I have definitely come across a few patterns that I'd like to add to my collection 😊.
This is great, thank you for your research. 1st video and saw some patterns I love! 😍 Hopefully I can control myself, especially since you've only started!😂
LOL - well hopefully I can help you find at least ONE new love - but, yes, pace yourself! There's so many more to come!!
Thank you, thank you, and thank you again for this series. 😊
You are so welcome!😊💕
The Assembly Line. Not sure of their sizing. I've made the cuff sleeve top and the car coat. I also have one of the skirt patterns but haven't made it yet. Great series!

Thanks Cuz! I have heard of some of these. It will be fun to check them out.
Thanks cuz 😊💕
I am looking forward to this, hoping to not get enabled….😂 5 out 4 have some free patterns, I believe, and also .svg files for our cutting toys.
Haha - sorry for any enabling that may happen - maybe I should put a disclaimer on the series 🤣
What is layered?
Instead of printing all the size range you can choose just one size of all the range. Oh I think you have to do it from a computer. Doesn’t work from a phone.
@4016kiwi Thank you so much! I do most of my pdf searching on my phone!Lolol I learn something new every day! Have a blessed day!
Why is pattern layering best? A lot of copying
Layering means you can print only the one or two sizes that you want rather than having to figure out which "line" is for your size.
