- in this video i put on our mchale fusion 2 onto our mf 6499 to go do the 1st bit of baling of the season. were baling organic meadows so not over heavy but a lovely bit of leafy silage that the fusion isn't very found of haha.

A pain in the a backside the blind spot in the pick up I straightened all the pick up tines between the Augers which helped, the angle of the cam track is well out when the tines start to drop at the back of the pick up think they should have that sorted by now, has the 3 the same prob, good vid Phil

Would you never consider getting a buck rake of the front links of that yoke for silage? Instead of taking the old shovel as you say it’s a bit worse for wear to be driving it around from job to job?

Wouldnt advise baling in eco pto on a massey bad news very light set up for eco in them. Fusions are hard on drive line as it is , best off to use standard 540. Ya wont be long liftin the top cover off and replacing the bearings and coupler for eco if you stay driving it in eco . There a good machine otherwise 3rd/4th fear syncro gives bother if doin a lot of work but the 6499 are a hell of tractor otherwise

On the mchale balers, when it gets plugged up you dont need to get out and dig it out, instead you can press the pan button inside the tractor while pressing pickup down, then start the PTO and it should clear it out... after its clesred out just hold the pan button and pickup up, wait for a few seconds and be on your way! Hopefully you see this and it saves you a lot of time and effort
Its worth adding that the pan button is the one second row from the top in the middle. And to clear it up, you need to hold down that button and the hydraulic both when youre putting the pan down and when youre lifting it up
The blockage hadn’t clogged the baler it had blocked again the bar that runs across the top of the pick up so letting down the pan wouldn’t do anything
Phil is right.why McHale.put the hydraulic lines across there is beyond me

Take off crop roller(whole front section) next time u getting blocked in grassy/damp conditions.it will improve intake
U can also insert a bigger nylon strip that has slots on it to run between knives

Can a fusion 2 handle the stretch plastic wrap instead of the net wrap ?
It's only the fusion 3 plus I think that can do the film instead of net, it would probably not fit but if it did it would probably constantly tear the film
It’s a 10 grand optional extra when buying new as far as I can remember, run a fusion 3 myself
There is a fusion 2 plus on donedeal at the minute with the plastic system...

Is this your first time to use a baler in economy pto some Massey experts don’t recommend heavy jobs like baling for eco just cos the tractor can do it doesn’t mean the eco gear is up to it
Yeah bale in eco if you don’t the slip clutch keeps going on the baler that’s what I found anyway
I've a 6480 that didn't like mowing in eco 1000 speed mode . Locked up the shafts . Not sure I'd bale in eco
I used to bale in eco but found the pto revs varied from too low to too high.I imagine it puts a lotta stain on the drivetrain,so i gave it up too.

when you have that short stuf you need tho bring your pto rpm to about 450 and not 540 and your ground speed up needs to be hire and iknow what iam talking about i work for contracter in holland and whe pres about 20000 roundbales ah year

If ye are so busy and ur on a pit and u need silage to be raked for the morning why don’t ye get another driver to rake and you go on the pit I’m sure there are plenty of young fellas looking for work like raking isn’t a hard job

You should not be bailing in eco . It’s only for power washing or small bits like that not for bailing or slurry or agitating or mowing . It’s a smaller gear and you will ruin you back end and do thousands in damage after a while
