Watching your dad getting annoyed with your brother brings back some fond memories.. 😄 Greens self sufficiency at home. Proper job. Enjoyed that Phil, Great video 👍👍😄
This is the most brilliant video, definitely one for your family album. You guys together are just great fun, know how to have a laugh. Please do more family gardening videos absolutely loved it. Thanks.
And a word for your sister Phil , she’s got skill to spare there, (also did a fine job of ploughing with the reversible plough 👍). We enjoy the vids Phil, Have a good week, keep safe always !
Reminds me of planting spuds with uncle years ago behind Dexter tractorHe had bell but if it broke would still keep to rythem even while sleeping for nights after Dropping spuds in spring, hay for summer and gathering on a frosty Saturday in autumn Great days young people today will never see but we're so rewarding
Remember doing that long time ago, there was a wheel on the planter with notches and a bell, every time the bell dinged you dropped a seed spud, innocent happy days
looks like fun! reminds me of my first job riding the strawberry planter on my first job when I was 12. we planted our potatoes by hand though. hope the crop goes well.
Great vid Phil. Mighty to see your uncle back out and about, able to do a bit. Oh man that reminds me of years gone by. Back in the eighties we used to plant two or three acres every year with a wee fergie planter similar to yours. Keep safe and keep plugging on lad.
In these fecked up times there is absolutely nothing like your family around ya on a warm evening out planting veg!!! With the help a god and the wee donkey ya will all be sitting round the table soon and laughingand joking about the funny day ye spent together!!!! Great to see Uncle Liam out n about and our best regards to him too as always!!Old school is the only school!!!!
My father put trailer loads of seaweed on the garden and plowed it in. (it was hilarious to watch the jumping shrimps when it rained), but the following years crop was bumper. Tatty's like bowling balls.
Every young fellow needs a 35 to learn to drive straight, I was using the drill plough and planting scallions with a turnip barrow in a Massey 35 from 7 years old, having sat beside my Da in the tractor for 100s of hours from about 2 years old. Not something you'd get away with these days, but probably where I was happiest in my whole life. I jumped at the chance to be with my Da in a tractor, even in prefer to going to the seaside. Can't say it was the same when weeding scallions or pulling sprouts I have to say.
Well done phill grate video memories will last a lifetime. Grate to see uncle out and about. Liv is a natural when it comes to anything agricultural work. As for bro farming??hard to train new staff 👍
Yes I remember putting spud in roughly 3 acres ,my father, with a spade very the Lee ready ,what a hard job but he loved it ,all the spuds out when we came from school then kib them in 👍
Who invented that potato planter Phil i love it, back in the 1950s i was popping majestic seed potatoes down the tube of a Ferguson planter to a ringing bell pulled by a Massey Ferguson 35x.
Farmer Phil you should pay a visit too me and I will show you the FERGIE PLOUGH CONVERTED FOR SPUDS. FULL BOX ACCROSS AND A SEAT. SITTING ON THE SEAT , PLANT SPUDS FROM THE BOX IN FRONT OF YE.
Great video Phil! Most families sowed a half acre a spuds years ago. Is it 1st low that you are driving in there? Will your father be out with the budget? Do a video on this too please!
Great video, nice to see everyone getting involved 😁 just wondering has planter got a little bell that rings to drop spuds or is it just an adapted fergie ridger
The young in's always there to get the piss pulled out of them. We went from planting by hand to that drill but only had it one year before we got the automatic planter
Would it not be easier to weld a plate on top of the shoot and then put the bag of seed spuds onto the plate and let them fall it themselves instead of putting them in by hand
bambino head2 not just a Ridger it's actually a planter also you can remove the sowing tubes just to use it for ridge int if you want too,,that's what the old fergie planters,Ridgers are,and yes some of them had a bell and a wheel which obvs turned and rang the bell wen to drop the seed down the tube...
Also just to let ye know I will be doing the love q and a around 2 o’clock on Sunday

Phil you'll have more in a crooked drill than a straight one.
Would it not be easier to weld a plate on top of the shoot and then put the bag of seed spuds onto the plate and let them fall it themselves instead of putting them in by hand
Ye need the bin and two fergie seats and a bell on that yoke
That's just a ridger afaik that they put pipes and seats on.
Had the old planters a bell to tell u when to drop the spud?
bambino head2 they were always called a drill plough in my time
