he is an absolutely beautiful vocalist, i think also he has matured amazingly in the later albums (white pony, saturday night wrist) but i have watched a few other live Deftones clip and he was just shocking life, which was horrible to watch.

Even as a guitarplayer myself, I sympathise somewhat with Chino. It sucks when a sound is fucked and you're not personally in power to fix it. If you're devoted you want to give the best result possible, not a crappy out of tune adolescent high school sound.
i think what happened what one of Stephen's lower strings started to break near the bride and slowly came undone, and obviously with their music being mainly chords he couldnt put up with that, so he slammed it down and got a back up. haha, go steph!

I met Chino twice he seems cool as hell, in 2006 during the family values tour I saw him riding around the parking lot of Darien Lake in a golf cart before the show, I grabbed my beer chased him down with a friend, talked to him for a few minutes (rockin out my ATF tee shirt) and the guy driving took us to a tour bus and we drank some beers. The rest of the band wasn't there but Chino seemed very laid back. It was awesome

Bored isn't in drop D, try playing the intro on the 6th and 5th fret on both low strings, you'll figure out that it's actually how it's supposed to be played.. in STANDARD tunning, not drop D.
About the drugs here. Yep, we dont know for sure if chino was on drugs here, but he has been very open about that he used to take a lot of drugs, and also written more songs about it, like "A passenger" forexample. and he also says to be clean now, just drinks som beer and smokes a little bit.
