When Chino screamed like that he actually belted out using all his lung power and vocal chords as much as they can put out. Even GOD knows who did that scream!
Chino hadn’t frosted his hair yet, and the lyrics are in an embryonic stage here. They didn’t live debut this song until May, so I would date this in the ballpark of late winter/early spring 1997.
@traschvideoz Chances are that the snare drum is an OCDP Vented Snare drum... Abe used to play with OCDP back in the day, I like them much better than the modern Tama sets he's using
During the bridge on the album version it sounds like Stephen is using a tremolo but I guess for live he just plays a harmonic. Hmmmmmm or did he actually do the same technique on the album?? Either way amazing song.
In the studio version he used a tremolo pedal for the bridge. I believe it was actually a BOSS TR-2 that he was using too I could be mistaken. I've only seen one performance of him playing this song live using the tremolo in the bridge and it was at the Sacto Press Club in 97'. The video of the show is on the DeftonesLive UA-cam Channel. Not sure why he never used it more often.
