The Master Fidelity corporate office is in my hometown of Vancouver, Canada, not too far from my house, I'm hoping to hear the source stack soon!

No wonder Rune is grinning from ear to ear! ...
That must have been a remarkable sounding system in that Gryphon Audio room.
Incredible to the eyes and even more remarkable to the ears.
Thanks for posting this Greg,. 👍🏻

Hello, my friend. It was such a blast... I've had the good fortune of having known Rune since he was working with Nordost... And while outside the room catching up the Anthony, I got to meet Rune's son! Munich is SUCH a great show... 😀

@@theaudioanalyst the High end community are a sociable bunch... I had the pleasure of meeting and speaking with Rune at the world premier of the EOS 2 last year Antileon evo monoblocks and commander pre amp also in attendance.. Special sounds for sure.... Anthony seems to have found excitement with Audiovector loudspeakers (my own brand of choice)
I bet the conversation flowed with personality as easily as the music did.

I would love to hear Alsyvox speakers. I'm guessing Bill invited you over to hear the NADAC Dac/Clock🤔 I would to see a head to head at your place between the Absolute stack and the new NADAC Gear.

Nice review , check out the diptyque planar dynamic speaker line for a fraction of the price . They have some of the same technology and quality crossover parts. They have a lot of the sound characteristics that you described with the Alsyvox.

Hello, Eric. So, I HAVE heard Diptyque loudspeakers, most recently in Hall 1, cabin F10, during this show.
They were playing the DP160 MKII (~$30k) when I was there, driven by an all-Kora set of electronics. I believe the ‘table in the room was a Transrotor, but I only heard digital while there. They had the Reference (~50k) and what I think was the DP-85 (not sure what they sell for) on static display as well…
While you are correct that they are considerably more affordable and offer some similarities in their resultant sound, I sadly have to insist that given what I heard as considerable differences in their resultant sense of absolute ease and dynamism, ability to present realistic musical scale, and overall imaging and soundstaging performance, that I don’t think it fair to compare them.
Don’t get me wrong, the Diptyque’s are quite impressive, especially at their price point. But they just don’t have the same vitality, authority, or overall authenticity I hear from the Botticelli X, or especially Caravaggio XX.

@@theaudioanalyst hopefully they’ll both be presenting at the capital audio show later this year. I would love to hear them.

@@ericelmore887 As wonderful as that would be, we have to be somewhat realistic. Neither brand -typically- does shows in the US. While I've never seen Diptyque in the US (they MAY have shown somewhere, but I've not seen them), I've only seen Alsyvox show twice here in the US. The first time was during the 2018 Rocky Mountain Audio Fest in Denver, then at the inaugural Pacific Audio Fest in Seattle in the late summer of 2023.
Let's keep our fingers crossed, but also set realistic expectations so that we may not be too disappointed if they are not showing there... 😉

@@theaudioanalyst I was introduced to diptyque for the first time last year at capital audio. Fidelity imports is the us distributor and my Maggie’s dealer sell them as well. They should be there but Alysvox I don’t think will.

Hi Greg. Some very intriguing products. A common criticism of large panel speakers is that they exaggerate the size of vocals and instruments. Did you notice anything along these lines when listening to the Alsyvox?

    • @theaudioanalyst
      @theaudioanalyst  2 місяці тому +1

The truth of the matter is that this propensity for a larger-than-life stage and imaging presentation *can* be an issue with any physically large loudspeaker, from the likes of horn speakers like the Acapella Apollon and Avantgarde Trio G3, dynamic models like the Magico M9 or Von Schweikert Audio ULTRA 11, to the big ESLs like the Martin Logan Neolith or the Ultimate Series Soundlab’s, not to mention the bigger Maggie's, like the 20.7 or 30.7.
While it is arguably a bit easier to design around such issues with mechanical driver arrangement and placement (coherent line sources, D’Apolito alignments, etc.) in most cases, such effects are not insurmountable. Typically, the larger the room such speakers are set up in, the less this effect is noted or problematic… Further, room placement, proximity to side boundaries, and toe-in, in particular, can help to ameliorate the impact considerably, if not entirely.
To answer your direct concerns about such issues with the Caravaggio XX, I have to say that looking back at my notes on the sessions in the room, I see NO mention of the staging or imaging cues as being abnormally large or in *any* manner problematic. In fact, these particular attributes are ones that I find to be exceptionally well done by the Alsyvox lineup, certainly with the Botticelli and Caravaggio models…
