    I'd take these over big Wilsons any day.

    These were in my strong non humble opinion, the best sound at Munich 2023. So much so that I bought the system. I ruthlessly compared to Borrensons, Magico, Wilsons, Martens, Stenheims, Kharmas and just could not believe the transparency. I find it humorous that he makes a comment about the bass while there's ample base that's tight and clean when he says it. The speaker woofer has 20mm of excursion, 10x any other planar because the mylar sits between a dual layer of neodymium. When you multiply that across the surface area we are talking about serious serious bass that can easily fill an 800 square foot room

      @@CarlVanDoren61 Jay imust have an axe to grind. Go read Robert Harley's coverage of this system at Munich which he awarded Best In Show. Stick with the professionals. I've heard these a/bd against Magico M6 and the Big Stenheims. They do not have the bass of a giant Wilson, but who cares. They held their own with the M6 and maybe they gave up a little bit but what you got in return across the entire frequency spectrum was way way worth it. I agree with Robert Harley these are about as good as it gets right now.

      With regards to bass ribbon excursion being 10x greater than any other planar is incorrect;10x greater than a Magnepan but as far as Apogees are concerned these can manage + -4mm.

    Kudos to Jay for calling it like you hear it. I agree with your assessment about this loudspeakers bass response. There is a misconception among planar devotees that planar bass is better. Yes and no. Yes, it is articulate and lacking in colorations associated with box loading. While this is very appealing to the listener, dynamic impact can be missing. Some planar fans are willing to forego the deep impact stuff and relish the speed and transparency that planars do best. But there are dipole planar speakers out there that can give you the best of both worlds by implementing cone woofers to cover the sub bass range, but special loading configurations and extreme attention must be paid to integration to get the best out of these systems. I will not go into product names and be accused of being a shill. Just suffice to say look around and you may find there are manufacturers out there that manage to pull this trick off, for a lot less money too.

      @Moon BTC how can you say the DAC? What about the Taiko? Could have been lots of things but to pinpoint something like this is impossible. It’s just a bias, trust me. I wasn’t impressed either and I have 2 of the components playing here. In my opinion the speakers made it sound a bit thin, definitely not the DAC or Streamer. Just my 2¢

    • @Puroplatino
      @Puroplatino Рік тому

      @Moon BTC What DAC do you have that you compared the Horizon to?

    • @Puroplatino
      @Puroplatino Рік тому

      @Moon BTC I love Cayin. I have many of their products from the N8ii to the HA-300mkii so this is not at all a diss on Chi-Fi. Here’s the thing to understand with End Game products… if you use components of the same level as the Cayin and throw in the best DAC in the world, whichever you deem that to be, you will not notice as much. At the very top end the difference is with every component and cable and synergy etc but if you put a $50k DAC into a $30k system and A/B it with a $3k DAC in the same system you will rarely hear much difference. These end game pieces scale up with the rest of your equipment so if you were to do that same comparison in a highly resolving system like say Jay’s you would hear a tremendous difference. That being said the you may not like the difference but I assure you there would be a huge difference. All the best my friend. Cheers from Italy 🇮🇹

      @@supercompooper Jay has a huge bias against Pilium. Simply because someone told him that the Pilium Hercules and Alexander perform better (not by much honestly) than the Boulder 3000 series. Imagine what it feels like to know that a $70k dollar amp outperformed the $250k Boulder 3050. It is a good kick to the ego of the rich guy who spends on the most expensive thing thinking it is the best. Hopefully one day Jay will objectively try Pilium, those amps have the best bass no matter what speaker is used.
