Speed Duels should've been doing the box set deck strat from the start, the first few releases were rocky, the starter decks were cool but nobody wanted to commit to buying boxes to try to pull any supplementary cards, now that basically everything comes out in boxes or at least a large majority of what you'd need, that makes it so much easier to keep up with, it's fun between me and friends and I wouldn't mind if it was stopped right where it is because then it's kinda in a similar spot in time to Goat Format with only Fusions and only cards up to the GX era. I don't think I'd want it to progress into Synchros anyways.
Its just lack of ads for Speed Duel that made it like this. I did not k ow it exists until last year... Once i started playing i only bought speed duel sets. Format is good for beginers and anime lovers, you get 8 decks for cheap, and can play with one box and have alot of fun! Also it can be really good for advanced player since buying x3 of boxes you get your deck maximised! Speed Duel Logo on the card is needed because people wpuld put all kind of cards in their decks. There is no better way to limit cards that are used in this format. They can not make ban list with 15k cards on it...
@@catsorafgc How could people know what is released and what is not released in speed duel after 10 sets or even more sets? It just get confusing for the people, way did it in no brainer, you see the pogo you know.
Hey there appreciate the shout out, I did have a quick note tho. I feel that the issue of forcing players to use speed duel cards specifically for their format was primarily bad because they began with the booster boxes and starter decks. I'f Konami has begun with the boxes from the beginning I feel like people would have been okay with it as a whole. The boxes offered a certain novelty to them and receiving 8-4 decks with extra misc. Cards and skill for $15-30 wasn't awful in terms of value.Lastly I feel like Speed duels could have added synchros and stopped there essentially creating another version of Edison format which widely beloved. Besides that I enjoyed the video and listening to your thoughts on it.
Speed Duel imo is a great idea in concept. Just the execution was not great and the release of Rush Duel also kinda sidewinded it too. Im gonna miss it. I got every deckset and even made cool custom deck boxes for them all. Its a great pick up and play casual way to play Yugioh with friends at parties. Good thing about Speed Duel is even if this is the end, there's nothing stopping people from using TCG cards and making custom skill cards to mimic Duel Links. I may do that cuz I really wanted to see 5D's make it in. If Konami wont do it I'll just do it myself with proxies and TCG cards.
I would've played it but only ever met one other guy who was interested. All the different locals I'd been to, no one would run an ots tournament for it. I remember the speed duel tournament packs were an option for the tcg prizes if you wanted one lol.. I was super hyped for miracle fusion secret rare reprint and the neo spacians coming to speed duel but Konami didn't even release that set in UK. I think the game died here for good when they did that.
for me its a 100% the price point, yugioh devalues stuff a ton in general and 99.9% of speed duel cards are reprints, sure you can get a couple of premade decks for cheap but the second you open one of those multiple deck boxes their values already down to 15 to 20% and youd need theoretically 3 of those boxes to 5 to get all 24 rares usually, given how every other card is worthless huge blow.
This is one of my favorite sets so far. I'm buying a few just to play with friends or family unless the format picks back up. I actually enjoy the playstyle. It is a real shame they may stop printing speed duel products. I was really hoping to see more cards released in the format. Not to mention, the secret rares and prismatic secret rares are actually really nice. Konami should advertise it more and the product may move better. I have never seen a speed duel ad personally.
The reason why speed duels failed was the time between products.... having to wait 6-8 months for a new box and 50% of those cards are reprints is brutal!
I bought the GX Midterm paradox set for the express purpose of having a simple format to use if someone ever came over and wanted to learn. I’ll rope someone into it someday :/
Personally speaking, I think Speed Duel should’ve been Konami’s way of doing a “draft format” along with being a more simplified version for Yugiboomers. Just sell boxes with cards for people to use had hold tournaments like that, but allow people to use cards they already own without the speed duel mark on it. I feel like those small changes, along with advertising would’ve made Speed Duels last longer. Also there was nothing wrong with them keeping stuff to DM and GX. There’s still an insane amount of stuff to pull from in terms of content and cards. Going to 5Ds when they haven’t even did Season 4 of GX or the last 3 arcs of DM is weird
I disagree with your video, not so much for the points you've made, but because I don't think they are the causes but the symptoms. The underlying reason for the failure of speed duels is that Yugioh TCG never bothered to explain the appeal of this format, plus it ruined the first impression of speed duel and then when the game had its first peak they stopped supporting it. For many Speed Duels is Baby Yugioh, and it's a stigma that they never managed to get rid of, even though today (as someone who plays speed duels) I would say that it's as interesting as Edison. The problems you mention with the cards are a symptom of this, of course nobody is going to want to buy the speed duels reprints if they have no idea if it's worth playing the format in question, but since things like Edison or Goat are popular, if Konami released a reprint product of those things it would sell quite well even without advertising because the community would do that work. The way Yugioh (I'm not saying TCGs in general because I've only played Yugioh) is distributed requires a lot of effort and even in a small format like Speed Duel to play it optimally requires you to research and look for specific cards and NO ONE is going to do that for a format that has no recognition, that's why people complain about the lack of coverage in Speed Duels, because most competitive Yugioh players do it for clout or glory (since the game has terrible prizes) The only reason I started playing Speed Duel was thanks to MBT's video analyzing 3 decks from the new GX box and I found it so impressive that I bought all 3 boxes. And the rest is history, it's extremely fun and makes you think uniquely. And thats another detail, many play YUGIOH because (although they complain all day about it) they love how the game is played today, and going back in time is not appetizing for them, many TCG players who have tried speed duel love it, they have fun with it, but it's not the format that they enjoy, their waifus are not there, their one card combos or their hand traps are not there. It's something that speed duel simply does not offer, and I feel that it is another reason why Speed duels were never going to take off, people who want old yugioh already have Edison and GOAT and people who like yugioh have TCG and Master Duel.
I see what you're saying I'd assume the appeal of the format would fall under the lack of marketing problem (which maybe I should've discussed that so that's on me), as for the GOAT and Edison set you to mention I don't know for sure if they would sell as much as people would think. Don't get me wrong GOAT and Edison are popular but Rarity Collection 2 had a bunch of Edison reprints and from what I've seen people do not like that set. So, for me personally, I wouldn't be too sure if a GOAT or Edison set would do well maybe I'm wrong but I wanna see if it would actually work.
@@darkemperorj356 if this hipoteticall Goat/edison products would be good seller if they make it so It has the most looked reprints + complete startegies in the sealed product, for example i see a set like the original maze of milenia, wich i remenber i bought 1 box and i was like satisfied (wich is rare usually sealed sucks hard) because i got Baron the fleur and a whole gate guardian core, if they builda product like that but with like 3 playable decks i belive it would sell okay. people would actually open a box and them... Trade for the strategy they actually wanna play, imagine that
Its the locked format I have yugioh cards but you're not allowed to use them Unless they had the speed duel tag And speed duel tag are not legal for advanced format So they forced you to buy the same cards all over again If that wasn't the case it likely would have done better
How can they limit people of using cards for speed duel format if not with speed duel tag? They can not make 15000 cards on banlist and allow you to use only 1500cards... Speed duel tag is needed for something like this
While I do agree with some things here, Speed Duel cards are legal in the Advanced Format. That’s why very occasionally there would be hype for a box because it reprinted a card that was had no other printings prior. For example, Red-Eyes
Where the heck were stuff staying on selfies they were hard as hell to find for me and still are so this is bull ... I would like to know were the hell y'all live because in NEPA I can't find shit and still can't and if it sucks so much why they so expensive online and all .....
prices online are usually determined by which seller can sell to your location so that's why it might be expensive for you. Also, if you can't find the products on your shelves it might just be your area not receiving many yugioh speed duel products or some stores declined to sell speed duel it's different for everyone.

Couldn’t they just say “any card not released in Speed Duel is not legal”?

It would have been great if i even had a place to play it
it was fun while it lasted. I ain't giving Konami money though. Rush duel proxies I can make at home for almost free
I'm pretty sure everyone interested in Speed Duels went to play Duel Links.
Maxx "C" being in the Battle City Finals box set is going to be Konami officially killing Speed Duels because that card WILL kill the format...
Speed Duels didn't rely heavily on ss. Maxx "C" would usually cycle you one card, if that.
Money came from games like DL , the cost also lower

Not sure why it is not more popular . Even if you don't used them for speed duel you can used them in normal cars game
