Play this at my funeral…I was in Liverpool 1982-86. What people..what memories.Sefton park in the Autumn,Lark Lane,Kensington,Toxteth,New Brighton,Eric’s,The State ,The Farm, The football, dead good,ey la etc
i remember hearing this on Radio 1 one evening and thinking 'wow, that's a single?' : Peter Powell said "top five for sur." Obviously he was wrong, but it's still an amazing song. Wilder is one of my favorite albums ever...
as 17 year old with no idea of what the fuck was going in my life I rinsed this song daily..and that was when rinsing was something your our mother did with the washing.. just brilliant from JC.
Guess who was influenced by Julian Cope LOL but Catherine Wheels Rob Dickinson HAHAH. Catherine Wheel do 'ferment' and 'Fripp' in the style of. Never saw the connection before, but it's stark :P

One of the most atmospheric songs ever. Loved it since '82.

I bought the single version and was so moved to tears by the reality, geniality and expressiveness of Julian Cole's vocals.

I bought the 12" version of this as soon as I heard it. It's wonderful, even now.
Thank you for uploading this - a lovely performance by Julian Cope.

I think I'm right in saying that his voice was very important to many British youths in '81-'82 !
it was to mine I was 16 listened to Kilimanjaro and wilder nearly everyday,
As a yoof (correct spelling) from that era i have to say no...
Saw them twice, Cope was a nutter, bordering on genius. Kilimanjaro is one of the albums of the 80's...
Still play Kilimanjaro at least twice a week it could be a greatest hit album.
Brilliant
I love how in his autobiography he said he would have to cut the stage antics for this brief moment, this brief celestial moment.
My favourite track from the "Wilder" album, would love to see the TOTP performance!
In La at the Country Club, Julian shouted at the crowd "Shut The Fuck Up" when they played this. All industry folks gabbing away. He was cool.
I remember this from Wilder. Funny how this and other albums were so harshly underated and criticised. Let us know if you find anymore!
genious
dave barlow also genius
Nice
Pity there is a sound like a cine film running
All dead now, practically if not literally.
Mostly prematurely and unnaturally. ❤

I think you'll find Guess Who had broken up by the time Julian Cope started recording.
Catherine wheel was way after @koitorob
I have it on 7" :-) , but no record player :-(
I just paid for the Dark Side of the Moon 50 year anniversary album which is released later in the month and i don't have a record player either
@@koitorob waited 9 years for that one reply lol, thank you 😊
