Fans always point to Uncharted 2 as the best in the series and I get why, as it was a big step forward for the series as a whole. Uncharted 2 is the more balanced game when it comes to plot, but when Uncharted 3 nails it, like on the boat or the plane sections, it's a goddamn marvel to behold and play and even six years later is STILL absolutely incredible.

My only problem with this game was that enemies seem to just soak up bullets like a sponge never reacting to them until they died. Really sucked if I was trying to shoot someone to cause them to drop a grenade before they threw it OR trying to halt someones progress from running toward me. And im not talking about the heavy armored guys. My only problem with this game

Such as(stated by review) sand clinging to his hair or clothes, his clothes being wrinkled for awhile after leaving water, sand falling down a dune when you walk on it. The particles, the lighting, the cinematography just blows you away.
The plot for this game suffered compared to the previous two games. Once or twice, I felt like we were only going to a place/doing something as an excuse for the setpiece to fit in the game somehow. The whole segment with Ramses and the journey through the shipyard to Sully felt like a waste of time not just for Drake as a character, but for me as a player. Plus, I wanted Charlie and Chloe to have stuck around to the end instead of dropping off the map, but I guess I can't blame Naughty Dog since Charlie's actor had a scheduling issue.
As someone who grew up playing crash bandicoot, it's great to see Naughty Dog doing so well in the new century. Watching these classic review videos still makes me happy. I need to go play this game again.
In my opinion the Russian war criminal of the second Uncharted seems a bit more badass than the British female version of the scarecrow in this one. Is it just me?
Yeah Marlow and Talbot are just plain annoying. Good voice acting though. Great game and i realise 10/10 doesn't mean Greg thinks it's perfect, it has a couple of flaws but i'd give it a 8.5 or 9/10

It was the exact same thing for me. Granted I'm on summer break from school right now and have nothing better to do but I honestly had to force myself to put down the controller. I think I'm at the last level of the game right now but I was just playing for about 7 hours straight. It's been a while since I've done that in a game and it felt good. I kinda did it with Uncharted 2, I powered through it so I could get to 3, but when I stopped in 2 it was because I was frustrated or stuck at a level. I was honestly kinda disappointed in Uncharted 2 but 3 really delivered. Uncharted 3 is an amazing game and now I'm actually really excited for 4.

Ehhhh, i enjoyed the game. But I enjoyed uncharted 2 a lot more. This one was a lot more predictable. 8/10 at best. Uncharted 2 deserves a 10 if anything.
Still my favorite Uncharted game. Yes Uncharted 2 is favored by many but i think Uncharted 3 is the more complete game. Great single player , fun underrated multiplayer and good co-op.
So I'm near the end of Uncharted 3. I just powered through 2 and almost 3 now and I could have sworn I heard people talk about Uncharted 2 as the best one? I think 3 is better in every way. Sure, like Greg said, if you're playing on hard or higher, there definitely are sections which can be frustrating, but those parts were frustrating in a good and addictive way that makes you want to keep playing until you pass a section. I had a hard time turning off my ps3 because I wanted to see what would happen next. In Uncharted 2, some of the hard parts were annoying. But this game is definitely more epic, with better animation, and I'm glad melee combat plays a bigger role. I honestly became bored with Uncharted 2 because on the harder difficulties when you face enemies, it just becomes formulaic: take cover and shoot. Playing a 3 year old game still holds up in a post-The Last of us gaming era. Overall, I've enjoyed Uncharted 3 more than 2. The animation, innovation, ideas, set pieces, even the characters were actually enjoyable and not just kinda cliche-ish in 2
the problem with this game is that on paper it is better than the predecessor, but it doesn't feel that original or important, the whole feeling you get while playing isn't as remarkable as the previous one. yes, it has better graphics and enhanced gameplay mechanics like hand-to-hand combat, and the set-pieces are bigger than ever, but somehow it doesn't have the same impact as Uncharted 2, it's the same problem people have with Age of Ultron, it's slighlty better than the predecessor, but on the other hand, don't we want more than that, more than «a little better», don't we want to be surprised? that's what made Uncharted 2 so special
So basically it didn't match the romanticized idea you had of uncharted 2 because you started to hype 2 up in your head as better than it actually was as the years passed
it's not about that. my idea of U2 hasn't changed at all, I love that game as much as I loved it when I first played it, the thing is, with Uncharted 3 people wanted to be surprised, just like they were in 2. and I'm not talking in terms of gameplay, I'm talking in terms of story, people wanted something more, besides the fact that it's an amazing game. it's unfair if you think about it, but it's still justified
Don't get me wrong uncharted three was an amazing game but it was just something about uncharted two that resonated with me more and a game I believe that changed gaming.Uncharted two just had more wow moments in the storyline and I thoroughly enjoyed the multiplayer regardless of it all I'm still excited for uncharted four and can't wait to play it this fall.
All naughty dog titles should be remastered. They hold visually so well and so many people like me that were on other platforms are eager to play them. Naughty dog and Rockstar are the best developers out there. Bioware are cool too, ME2 is on my top 5, yet. DAI it's amazing but nowhere near this level of polish.
^ I think developers usually give their games to other specific developers to remaster their games. They can still make uncharted 4 but i would still love some remastered editions
I prefer Uncharted 2, the story may be a bit cliche at times but its delivery is stunning. The third has a story that seems indecisive, it seems to build tangents that just suddenly stop or are barely explained or emphasized, still a good game.
I'm playing through this right now. I absolutely LOVED the second one. It's just worlds ahead of the first. The first had a good story, but the gameplay was incredibly frustrating.
Does Xbox have any decent exclusives? Lol. The only 360 exclusive worth my time was Fable purely because it was amazing. The PS3 had amazing exclusives (in my opinion)

1. U3 2. U4 3. U2 4. U1 I love Uncharted 3. Everytime I play this game I feel the same emotions that i felt when I launched the game for the first Time 😍 It's a legendary game.
Uncharted 1 - 6 Uncharted 2 - 10 Uncharted 3 - 7.5 Almost a perfect rating but you're being way too generous to 1. Hell, I'd even be fine with lowering my score -- it just doesn't hold up. As for 3, I just played it for the first time and enjoyed it, but was underwhelmed compared to 2. Bot the levels and set pieces felt rushed and too short, whereas in 2 they just keep escalating and escalating until they can't possibly throw anything else at you and top it off with an incredible climax. 3 was more like: here's one cool, very quick moment that will be over way too fast. They just don't build those moments up organically with continually raising stakes the way 2 does. They're thrown at you and are over in a minute, so they never make the lasting impact they could have. Here's hoping 4 offers a much better showing. Starting it tomorrow!
I love Uncharted 3 as much as Uncharted 2. In my opinion, Uncharted 2 and Uncharted 3 both deserve a 10. They are just awesome to play and I find myself playing the campaign a lot in both games. Some may argue that the pacing is bad in 3 but for the 1st half it's perfect. Once you get to chapter 12, Uncharted 3 becomes more heavy on combat. That's not bad because combat is very fun in Uncharted 3 and 2. There's also that cruise ship mission which is fun and is awesome to play but has nothing really relevant to the plot other then Nathan is trying to save sully. Uncharted 2 had perfect pacing through out the whole game for me. I never felt bored because there was way too many enemies coming at me. In terms of graphics they are the same. Uncharted 3 sometimes may look a bit better but that's only because Uncharted 2 was released in October 2009 while Uncharted 3 was released 2 years later in October 2011. They are both equally stunning to look at. Uncharted 3 just wins in multiplayer for load outs and attachment etc. Uncharted 2 wins just a bit in story while Uncharted 3 wins in multiplayer. I love multiplayer in both Uncharted 2 and 3 so it's a tie for me between the 2 games.
It's not a 10 imo but I'd give it a 9 even with its issues like enemy hit reactions being way off. And still a beautiful looking game on ps3 even better on Ps4. I'm playing it again in 2020 still looks and plays great.

I still don't know what Greg is talking about with Uncharted 2's story being beat for beat the same as 1. Really the only thing the first two have in common in that aspect is that supernatural things show up in the latter half and even then it happens earlier in 2 and has its own twist. I think 3 has some sequences that go on a tad long and has too much melee combat but other than that it is phenomenal but still not as good as 2.

I am now playing the Nathan Drake experience and i'm so impressed with this game even after playing amoung thieves. The part where you have to escape a sinking ship or are lost in a desert is unbelievable, i loved the second game but the third IMO is even better.
Uncharted 1 was my favourite, my big bro just randomly brought it home years ago and I'd never heard of it, and it blew me away, it was just more exciting to play because I knew nothing about it.
I'll say this, Uncharted 3 probably has the best action sequences of the series. The burning chateau, the cruise ship, young Drake, and the cargo plane alone make it awesome.

Uncharted 3 is an awesome game and really does improve on the gameplay aspects from uncharted 2. But one thing that annoyed me about uncharted 3 was the amount of plot holes in the story.(Warning spoiler alert!) How does Elena know Cutter? How does Talbot get shot and then just suddenly heels without an explanation and then all of a sudden gets shot by Drake and dies in the last mission? Where is the explanation for how there are the exact same spiders in every location drake visits in the game? In terms of gameplay uncharted 3 is superior to uncharted 2. But story wise uncharted 2 is better in my opinion.
Well the game didn't show what happened between UC2 and UC3. So whatever was unexplained were things the game wanted us to think has happened before. Like Chloe must've introduced Cutter to the gang, the kinds of work he did and it through Drake, Elena found out about him. About the Talbot scene, I always thought he was poisoned by the curse they were smuggling which is why he was immune to Drake's bullets for a short while. And the spider scene basically added suspense because of the ancient places they visited. But I do agree some background info on those spiders would've been best. I thought there would be momma spider at some point we'd have to face lol.

What's with all the hate? This game is awesome! In my opinion not better than Uncharted 2, but JUST as good. U2 had a lot of exhilarating and intense shooting sequences, and Chloe was a great character to get introduced to. However, I really wanted to have Sully in the game more. I liked Uncharted 3 because of the story and because Victor Sullivan gets more screen time. However, I would have liekd o see more of Chloe :( ALso, the flashback chapters were great, and I liekd being introduced to Charlie Cutter. Both Unchated 2, Uncharted 3 and The Last of us are a 10/10 Badass seal of approval/Awesometacular
Great game, but U2 is still my favourite. I hope they will bring back the shooting mechanics from U2 in U4, and they will work on some of the other mechanics in the game (jumping for example). And not just make the game look better :)

I've played, beaten and enjoyed the campaign to Uncharted 2 ten times, and barely got through my second playthrough of Uncharted 3! Which game do you think I would give the perfect score to??
Ehhhh, i enjoyed the game. But I enjoyed uncharted 2 a lot more. This one was a lot more predictable. 8/10 at best. Uncharted 2 deserves a 10 if anything.

Uncharted 3 is masterpiece and is honestly my favourite out of the 4
So I'm near the end of Uncharted 3. I just powered through 2 and almost 3 now and I could have sworn I heard people talk about Uncharted 2 as the best one? I think 3 is better in every way. Sure, like Greg said, if you're playing on hard or higher, there definitely are sections which can be frustrating, but those parts were frustrating in a good and addictive way that makes you want to keep playing until you pass a section. I had a hard time turning off my ps3 because I wanted to see what would happen next. In Uncharted 2, some of the hard parts were annoying. But this game is definitely more epic, with better animation, and I'm glad melee combat plays a bigger role. I honestly became bored with Uncharted 2 because on the harder difficulties when you face enemies, it just becomes formulaic: take cover and shoot. Playing a 3 year old game still holds up in a post-The Last of us gaming era.
Overall, I've enjoyed Uncharted 3 more than 2. The animation, innovation, ideas, set pieces, even the characters were actually enjoyable and not just kinda cliche-ish in 2

why i prefer #2 over #3 is because of the unlockables that you get in singleplayer which adds replay value where as #3 has nothing

the problem with this game is that on paper it is better than the predecessor, but it doesn't feel that original or important, the whole feeling you get while playing isn't as remarkable as the previous one. yes, it has better graphics and enhanced gameplay mechanics like hand-to-hand combat, and the set-pieces are bigger than ever, but somehow it doesn't have the same impact as Uncharted 2, it's the same problem people have with Age of Ultron, it's slighlty better than the predecessor, but on the other hand, don't we want more than that, more than «a little better», don't we want to be surprised? that's what made Uncharted 2 so special
So basically it didn't match the romanticized idea you had of uncharted 2 because you started to hype 2 up in your head as better than it actually was as the years passed
it's not about that. my idea of U2 hasn't changed at all, I love that game as much as I loved it when I first played it, the thing is, with Uncharted 3 people wanted to be surprised, just like they were in 2. and I'm not talking in terms of gameplay, I'm talking in terms of story, people wanted something more, besides the fact that it's an amazing game. it's unfair if you think about it, but it's still justified
Don't get me wrong uncharted three was an amazing game but it was just something about uncharted two that resonated with me more and a game I believe that changed gaming.Uncharted two just had more wow moments in the storyline and I thoroughly enjoyed the multiplayer regardless of it all I'm still excited for uncharted four and can't wait to play it this fall.
Even though I much prefer Uncharted 4 for its richer story and gameplay, Uncharted 2 had AMAZING set-pieces.

All naughty dog titles should be remastered. They hold visually so well and so many people like me that were on other platforms are eager to play them. Naughty dog and Rockstar are the best developers out there. Bioware are cool too, ME2 is on my top 5, yet. DAI it's amazing but nowhere near this level of polish.

I prefer Uncharted 2, the story may be a bit cliche at times but its delivery is stunning. The third has a story that seems indecisive, it seems to build tangents that just suddenly stop or are barely explained or emphasized, still a good game.
When it comes to PS3 and IGN reviews, clearly IGN gets paid enough

I'm playing through this right now. I absolutely LOVED the second one. It's just worlds ahead of the first. The first had a good story, but the gameplay was incredibly frustrating.
Uncharted 4 is on Walmart for preordering! This is being released 4/1/2014 for the PS4! Another great exclusive for Sony!
I hope Walmart has there facts correct... if they are correct I will be super Hyped for Uncharted 4.

Almost a perfect rating but you're being way too generous to 1. Hell, I'd even be fine with lowering my score -- it just doesn't hold up. As for 3, I just played it for the first time and enjoyed it, but was underwhelmed compared to 2. Bot the levels and set pieces felt rushed and too short, whereas in 2 they just keep escalating and escalating until they can't possibly throw anything else at you and top it off with an incredible climax. 3 was more like: here's one cool, very quick moment that will be over way too fast. They just don't build those moments up organically with continually raising stakes the way 2 does. They're thrown at you and are over in a minute, so they never make the lasting impact they could have.
Here's hoping 4 offers a much better showing. Starting it tomorrow!

I love Uncharted 3 as much as Uncharted 2. In my opinion, Uncharted 2 and Uncharted 3 both deserve a 10. They are just awesome to play and I find myself playing the campaign a lot in both games. Some may argue that the pacing is bad in 3 but for the 1st half it's perfect. Once you get to chapter 12, Uncharted 3 becomes more heavy on combat. That's not bad because combat is very fun in Uncharted 3 and 2. There's also that cruise ship mission which is fun and is awesome to play but has nothing really relevant to the plot other then Nathan is trying to save sully. Uncharted 2 had perfect pacing through out the whole game for me. I never felt bored because there was way too many enemies coming at me. In terms of graphics they are the same. Uncharted 3 sometimes may look a bit better but that's only because Uncharted 2 was released in October 2009 while Uncharted 3 was released 2 years later in October 2011. They are both equally stunning to look at. Uncharted 3 just wins in multiplayer for load outs and attachment etc. Uncharted 2 wins just a bit in story while Uncharted 3 wins in multiplayer. I love multiplayer in both Uncharted 2 and 3 so it's a tie for me between the 2 games.
It's not a 10 imo but I'd give it a 9 even with its issues like enemy hit reactions being way off. And still a beautiful looking game on ps3 even better on Ps4. I'm playing it again in 2020 still looks and plays great.

I still don't know what Greg is talking about with Uncharted 2's story being beat for beat the same as 1. Really the only thing the first two have in common in that aspect is that supernatural things show up in the latter half and even then it happens earlier in 2 and has its own twist. I think 3 has some sequences that go on a tad long and has too much melee combat but other than that it is phenomenal but still not as good as 2.
Exactly, UC2's story really is nothing like UC1 AT ALL.

I am now playing the Nathan Drake experience and i'm so impressed with this game even after playing amoung thieves.
The part where you have to escape a sinking ship or are lost in a desert is unbelievable, i loved the second game but the third IMO is even better.
Uncharted 1 was my favourite, my big bro just randomly brought it home years ago and I'd never heard of it, and it blew me away, it was just more exciting to play because I knew nothing about it.
I'll say this, Uncharted 3 probably has the best action sequences of the series. The burning chateau, the cruise ship, young Drake, and the cargo plane alone make it awesome.

I will say for those who weren't impressed with the boss battle in the second game will not be disappointed I just beat the game on easy today and can guarantee that it will be fun no matter what difficulty I'm playing.

Uncharted 3 is an awesome game and really does improve on the gameplay aspects from uncharted 2. But one thing that annoyed me about uncharted 3 was the amount of plot holes in the story.(Warning spoiler alert!) How does Elena know Cutter? How does Talbot get shot and then just suddenly heels without an explanation and then all of a sudden gets shot by Drake and dies in the last mission? Where is the explanation for how there are the exact same spiders in every location drake visits in the game? In terms of gameplay uncharted 3 is superior to uncharted 2. But story wise uncharted 2 is better in my opinion.

Well the game didn't show what happened between UC2 and UC3. So whatever was unexplained were things the game wanted us to think has happened before. Like Chloe must've introduced Cutter to the gang, the kinds of work he did and it through Drake, Elena found out about him.
About the Talbot scene, I always thought he was poisoned by the curse they were smuggling which is why he was immune to Drake's bullets for a short while.
And the spider scene basically added suspense because of the ancient places they visited. But I do agree some background info on those spiders would've been best. I thought there would be momma spider at some point we'd have to face lol.

What's with all the hate? This game is awesome! In my opinion not better than Uncharted 2, but JUST as good. U2 had a lot of exhilarating and intense shooting sequences, and Chloe was a great character to get introduced to. However, I really wanted to have Sully in the game more. I liked Uncharted 3 because of the story and because Victor Sullivan gets more screen time. However, I would have liekd o see more of Chloe :( ALso, the flashback chapters were great, and I liekd being introduced to Charlie Cutter. Both Unchated 2, Uncharted 3 and The Last of us are a 10/10 Badass seal of approval/Awesometacular

I hope they will bring back the shooting mechanics from U2 in U4, and they will work on some of the other mechanics in the game (jumping for example). And not just make the game look better :)

it was exactly the same lenght as Uncharted 2. I don't get this criticism. maybe because the story felt a bit rushed towards the end? but if you look at how many hours you spent playing you'll see it's the exact same thing
