The Uncharted trilogy knew exactly what it was doing with each games’ themes, environments, enemies, and McGuffins. Not one game fell out of line from the overall vision of the saga. Uncharted 1 - Where: South America jungles, Enemies: Erratic pirates Theme: CHAOS This is why El Dorado was perfect as the McGuffin because it made people into horrifying monsters and CHAOTIC pirates with no class nor discipline were the perfect enemy to find it. Uncharted 2 - Where: The wintry Himalayas, Enemies: Mercenaries Theme: STRENGTH Lazarevic was the Bane to Nathan Drake’s Batman. The ultimate physical threat to prove who is pound for pound the strongest man. This is why the Tree of Life was the perfect McGuffin because Lazarevic and his mercenaries wanted to maximize their STRENGTH. Uncharted 3 - Where: The Rub ‘al Khali desert, Enemies: A covert secret order Theme: FEAR Marlowe was the ultimate psychological enemy for Nate. That whole line she says, “I wonder what you’re really afraid of,” is alluding to Nate’s fear of losing Sully or Elena. Nate doesn’t fear dying as much as he fears losing the people closest to him. We see this when he drank the water at the City of Ubar. Marlowe and her agents were not the physical opponents that Lazarevic was. She knew she could not defeat Nate physically because he had already bested the very best physical opponents like Lazarevic. But what Marlowe did know was how to break Nate’s spirit. And that’s attacking his heart: Sully. That’s the whole point of why she toyed with Nate after they drugged him in Yemen. That’s why she made him worry about Sully and also question Sully’s loyalty. The hallucinogen in the water of Iram is the perfect McGuffin for a psychological tormenter that Marlowe was. She was the Scarecrow to Nate’s Batman. If you were expecting Uncharted 3 to be like Uncharted 2, then you miss the point of each game’s themes. And you could be redundant in copying another enemy like Lazarevic who was the ultimate epitome of strength. Each game should express new ideas. New themes. New environments. Each game is akin to the themes from each movie of the Dark Knight Trilogy. FEAR, CHAOS, STRENGTH And that’s reflected in each game’s enemies. The pirates from the first game were chaotic. The mercenaries from the second game were brute force. The secret order in the third game was fear.
@@buttonmashranker I'd say 3 really nails the atmosphere more than any other, the enviroments look way more vibrant and detalles than 1 or 2, the sound design for the weapons and new melee system hit all the right notes, and the ost is my personal favorite of the franchise
@@buttonmashranker I think the issue is basically just the story. UC3 was bigger and had more grandeur, as you'd expect from a sequel. But UC2 is better written and works better.
Agree that Uncharted 3 was a step down from Uncharted 2, but disagree that with implication that the departure of Neil Druckmann was important since for the first two, Amy Hennig and Bruce Straley held a larger role.
In hindsight, despite its flaws Uncharted 3 was a superior game to 4 at least in my humble opinion. And yeah it speaks to the less involvement Neil has with a game, the better for its overall quality. Mr No Fun can go touch grass.

Uncharted 3 killed the franchise? Bro it's like one of the best games out there. The draw back in that game was that the pirate section seemed unnecessary because it felt like a darg for the story but other than that the game is actually pretty good.
Uncharted 3 is so good, my favorite in the series actually. "Almost killed the franchise" is flat out wrong btw, the game did great both financially and critically.
Uncharted 3 is the best uncharted game in my opinion. I think it does well with story, character development, set pieces, and really hits Elena and Nate’s marriage out of the park. I could probably flip to or from uncharted 4 though, given that 4 is a love letter to the franchise.
@@noklle they basically dropped the idea of a final boss after it really. I honestly think these games would of been better with less combat and more platforming adventuring. The big wave shootouts always put the breaks on pacing and it was highly dissonant to the character of drake. I mean by the end of those games dude had killed hundreds of people maybe thousands. Really throws me off when the character acts completely different during the story segments ignoring this fact or even reacting horrified when he killed anyone in the cut scenes reacting like any real person would but it was completely odd since he had just killed multiple dozens of people before these events like it was nothing. Same thing with Bioshock both of these games are basically shooting galleries with interspersed story or environmental navigation sections and the dissonance between the story told and these shootout sections really take me out of the games immersion.

3 was probably my favorite. Maybe it was set piece heavy, but I remember being thrilled the whole way through. I was very, very late to the party with these games and very much didn't like the first one. The second one was pretty good, but I felt it was a bit overrated. 3 hit all the right notes for me. I totally agree with u, i just finished uncharted 3 and it was awesome, and i just knew that 2 was the best one for many ppl and 3 was just a disappointment but to me 2 was good but not the best 1 was ok 2 was good 3 was great And what i loved in 3 that it had many things great action scenes and we knew Nate’s past and what happed to his parents and how his relationship with Sully started and it was in different places (i know we played in different places in the previous games but this felt more diverse to me) we had London, Syria, Yemen, and the desert. Also the iconic plain scene.

Uncharted 3 was a slight step down from Uncharted 2 as far as story and overall fun, but “almost ruined” the franchise seems like a mile long stretch… imo.
Uncharted 2 was my first Uncharted and after playing It on my brothers ps3 I ditched Xbox and bought a playstation. Uncharted 3 was a massive let down compared to 2, but the Last of Us turned out to be one of my favorite games ever...until Tlou 2 which ultimately became the worst game I've ever played.
story wise uncharted 2 takes the cake for me but MAN was uncharted 3 the most fun game multiplayer wise i remember playing co op with my big bro and honestly those where the best memories i had of the ps3 era
Uncharted 3 is one of those games that I know has a ton of problems, plot holes, loose threads and things that flat out just make zero sense. But I still love it because it's just so darn fun to play.
I was playing these games back to back and after finishing U2 I was super excited to get into U3 cuz as a kid I loved that game and it was my favourite in the series. But when I got into it I found the enemy placement and level design so clumsy and unpolished unlike U2 which felt like the enemy placement and pacing of the levels was super carefully done.
This game was made in 2011, and was being developed before then, and even back then the last of us was like the first good real life story game, this man doesn’t know what he’s talking about
I love TLOU but Uncharted is known for its action so U3 having those big Hollywood moments is exactly what we all wanted and they delivered in that with U3 no one plays Uncharted and not expects to have some crazy action. TLOU is a slow pace that game dives heavy into character takes things slower not much action really in TLOU cause it’s not that type of game. U3 gave us at the time everything fans wanted too see
I love all the Uncharted games but U3 definitely had some issues in the storytelling department that just threw me off. You could really tell that they had the set pieces figured out but actually haven't thought up more plausible ways to how or why they are happening in the first place. We have the awesome cruiseship sequence that actually started with the ships graveyard. Drake fights his ways through dozens of Ramses' men in order to free Sully only to find out that Ramses never had him and it was all a trick to capture Drake. That would all have been nice and well if we actually didn't start the ships graveyard by actually being Ramses' captive in the first place. So this entire ruse that cost Ramses a lot of his men was all just to capture a guy who he had captured in the beginning anyways. Insert Tony Stars "not a great plan" meme here please. Same with the Talbot rooftop chase sequence. The sequence most likely was planned out but the story behind it makes zero sense at all. Drake is captured and sits at a table surrounded by Marlow, Talbot, Ramses and a number of henchmen. Then he brakes free and starts going after Talbot who suddenly runs away. WTF? Why doesn't he just stay there where his henchmen are? When we catch up to him he fights us one on one anyways. Also the entire why is Talbot alive thing after being shot by Cutter gets no resolution. Cutter is surprised that Talbot is alive after he shot him and that's it. The scene made it seems that there's more to it but it just get's dropped off there. Another thing was when they were looking for that spot in Syria only to randomly stumble over it when running away from the enemies. Convenient writing. Also the McGuffin itself is a bit lackluster. In the previous games we have actually named things like El Dorado or the Cintamani Stone. But here it's just a vessel of brass. At least give it a friggin name to make it appear more mystic. Even you make a name up that does not exist in any old legend, story etc. in a fictional story that much freedom is allowed. Also at the same time what Marlowe and Talbot want to do with this McGuffin is a bit lackluster. Drake said that they already use fear on messing with peoples minds. So having poisoned a way to poison water to make people go crazy doesn't sound like much of an improvement of what they already have. Lazarevic had a private army. But he didn't have superhuman powers which is why he wanted the Cintamani Stone. Marlowe however has her own army and equipment and ways to play with people's minds. Poisened water doesn't seem like that much of a level up to what she already has compared to what a level up the Cintamani Stone was to Lazarevic. That all aside, I really can't stress enough that I totally love the game. But that doesn't mean that I cannot critisize things that I thing could have been handled better. But considering the situation pointed out in this video I have to say that it's amazing that we still got that good of a game.
@@dylana.9057 The thing with a critical eye is not to forget to give a story a bit of leeway, especially if it's full of parts that entertain you. Those things I mentioned also only stuck out after I finished the story and starting thinking about it. Didn't make me hate the game though. It was rather a "well, that actually didn't make much sense" for a couple of situations. All it lead is ranking it lowest on the Uncharted games list. But still it was a blast to play and a worthy installment of the IP in terms of staying true to the characters and the adventure.
The story is my biggest issue with U3. It's disjointed and rushed, with too many characters and very little explanation for everything that happens. The gameplay and action are both stellar, but the story needed far more work.
My problem with 3’s story was that it couldn’t decide what it wanted to do, between asking “what are you trying to prove?” Why can’t that be enough?” Saying “this isn’t worth it, let this one go” And on the flip side we got another world threatening supernatural thing in a brass vessel…kind of gives off mixed messages. I think 4 not having anything supernatural was a smart decision, given what story it was telling
In my opinion, there are some things that get ignored regarding this game. I love how the story, apart from expanding Nate’s relationship with Sully, let’s us learn more about Nate’s relationships with Drake. we see he’s a kid off the streets (later learn his mother died and he was left at an orphanage), and despite his status he has Sir Francis, who he attributes his whole worth to. He’s obviously obsessed; when you read his journal during the flashback there are several pages of sketches of Drake, including his knighting and other moments. It’s at the end when Marlowe tells him to take the ring from her like Drake did the Queen, his illusion seems to break. From history, we can safely compare Marlowe to Elizabeth I, which makes Nate rethink. I’ve essentially run out of things to say, but I’ve kind of made my point.
Uncharted 3 is a fantastic game. I don’t know what this “almost killed the franchise” stuff is about. It had issues, but clearly people adored it and still do.
Let me clarify some things that were left out of this review, uncharted 3 has several ideas that were not well developed for a very specific reason, the president of naughty dog went to E3 and announced the release date a year before the game released and the development is still halfway through, which caused an absurd crunch and the involvement of many more devs to finish the project. Amy Henning, co-director, writer and creator of the series, has publicly expressed this in interviews, saying that the crunch was huge in this game, and her desire was precisely to make a fourth game in a completely different way, with a smaller team and a different development philosophy. And you got it wrong, uncharted 4 would not be "safe" to build on the success of the third game, in fact it would be bold, with Nathan not using firearms for much of the game and focusing only on melee combat, because Amy wanted to demonstrate that Drake was no longer the adventurer of years ago because he would be married to Elena, in addition, she wanted to explore Drake's mind more and his fixation on treasures, making the character "Sam", his brother, a mirror darker than it could have been, something that Uncharted 3 tried to do but only scratched the surface due to short development time. I love uncharted 4, but I feel it lacks Amy Hennig's "pulp" and animated adventure layer in it, it's like Steven Spielberg didn't direct an Indiana Jones movie (as it happens now with Dial of the Destiny).
I think it was just as good as the others. Especially with the cruise and the plane. The combat and weapons were improved one again. The opening was fun and the flashback was interesting as well as the exotic locations.
The game isn't perfect and bullets making contact with the enemies just doesn't look right to me. But all that being said I have played this game a lot. I think it might be one of my favourites just for the epic sequences. The characters are amazing. Whereas uncharted 4 has Sam. I just can't stand him, the story around him, and a whole level dedicated to manipulating you into thinking it's for Sam's safety. It's just awful writing.
I completely disagree with you uncharted 3 was the best of the first 3 uncharted games, uncharted has been doing better every new game. Since uncharted 1 I was admiring every little detail from clothes getting wet when walking in puddles ( It was a big deal when it was the first game I played on the ps3 ) to the graphics. All of them were wonderful games.
No. Nope. Nada. You can suggest it's weaker than 2 and 4 and I reckon most Uncharted fans would agree but suggesting it almost killed the franchise is utter crap
It didn't nearly kill the franchise, it actually allowed it to evolve. the meeting of Sully and Drake was great, The nods to Laurence of Arabia were awesome 👌 it's an underrated gem. I actually prefer it over the 4th one.
It's funny because 3 was the root of many of the problems in 4. The focus on stealth, the overuse of puzzles and the existence of long and boring flashback sequences. But UC3 has its moments. The naval chapters, the horse chase and the game tricking you by making you believe Sully died. Also the guns sound the best and Marlowe is a much more annoying villain than Rafe, Lazarevic and Navarro. UC3 was the last Uncharted released before The Last of Us, which also makes it the last one free from Druckmann's increasing influence. That's why it needs to be cherished.
This reads like someone who did a tonne of research on Uncharted 3 and watched all the cutscenes but never actually played it. I'm sure that's not the case, but games should first and foremost be about gameplay and very little of this critique even mentions it, save for a tiny footnote about aiming.
This is a pretty bad take. Your last few videos seem to be going for shock value. Rather than the well researched, documentary presentation we all came here for.
Major hot take on your end for sure! I disagree with just about everything you've said here. I don't think you played the same Uncharted 3 as everyone else.
U3 had awesome set pieces. Despite its story being lackluster, the thing that REALLY disappointed me about it (and to an extent U4)was its lack of a proper supernatural enemy element in the 3rd act. SPOILERS INCOMING!!! U1 had Mayan decendants that mutated into nasty creatures due to exposure of a virus found in a carcass of their mummified alien "god-king". U2 had Yeti monsters who really turned out to be disguised, super-powered natives that were guarding the entrance to the fabled lost city of Shangri La, which housed The Tree of Life: the source of the natives' power. U3 just had flaming Ghost Rider skulls dudes which were just an illusion from exposure to poisoned water. So it does NOT count IMHO! U4 had NO supernatural element. 😢
The supernatural elements to me were also a let down to me. It may not be that much but it was part of the formula established in the first 2 games. The 3 one was heading there but left it in ambiguity and not confirming it. 4 disappointed me with that lack of supernatural elements and Druckman being in charge of the game.
There's actually a lot of development issues the video didn't get to go into. For example, Charlie Cutter was supposed to be present in the story from beginning to end, but his actor Graham McTavish got a part in the hobbit movies so he had to leave production. Thats why the plot can feel a bit disjointed, as if the game has a set of characters for one half and then another for the next. It's really fascinating in my opinion. Honestly, everytime Naughty Dog delays a game, I dont mind it because they really put themselves through hell to get Uncharted 3 out by the initial November 1, 2011 release date where everything was constantly against them
This is definitely an unpopular opinion. Uncharted 3 was still a solid game and had some the fun/hardest shoot outs compared to the previous games. The story was a bit eh but still very much enjoyable
I just finished this for the first time yesterday, was crazy that my gun disappeared at the end. Shooting the enemies overall was terrible, took a few shots for them to flinch.
Uncharted 3 may not have been as good as Uncharted 2 but it was still a good, fun game with some incredible set pieces and still had great reviews. It really wasn't close to being a franchise killer, that's just ridiculous. A franchise killer (or potential franchise killer) is a genuinely bad game, something like Devil May Cry 2.
Uncharted 3 is definitely my favorite of the original 3. I know everyone loves 2 but 3 came out at the right them when I needed it for me. I have too many good memories tied to it.
What a hyperbolic title. The game has a 92 metacritic score, it was a huge financial success for Sony and I know many people who consider it their favourite in the franchise. The script certainly could have been more airtight, but I felt it still explored the lengths in which Nathan was willing to go for legacy and putting his loved ones at risk before deciding to trade one ring for another. If anything, it perfectly sets up a lot of what 4 would go on to explore. I also really don't like how much you're implying that Neil Druckmann was the creative genius here over Amy Hennig or even Gordon Hunt (rest in peace) in those first two games, that's just simply false.
I dunno what you’re talking about mate. This game was amazing. It didn’t need “powerful villain”, cause it was supposed to show Nate’s story and what made him so obsessed.
@@schemar17 Same with 3. The urn that supposedly housed the "Djinn" was making everyone trip balls but you never actually see or fight it. It's left up to interpretation as to if there's a djinn at all. There was also the Ps Vita game. Radioactive gold was the culprit.
The supernatural element were always the weakest part of the games dont know why you'd miss them. But the shift 3 went for was noticeably bad, 4 handled it much better
@@NeoHisself I enjoyed the supernatural aspect. Gave it an Indiana Jones vibe. The "realistic" direction was boring. UC 3? Drake and friends try acid. UC 4? Pirates of the Pyramid Scheme. I just finished uncharted 3 and it was a great game. Lots of action and thrilling moments. Combat was challenging because the enemies never stayed in front of you they were always on the side behind you and you had to keep moving. I also loved the story Sully and Drake really made you care about their relationship it really hit you hard when you thought Sully was dead and all you wanted to do was get revenge but it was a twist when you realize he was still alive awesome game all around. Looking forward to playing uncharted 4 and also watching the up coming movie I they get it right.
Nate was drugged the whole time I really liked that sequence plus the plane sequence best I’ve ever played could easily been a cutscene but it was playable and fun. And for anyone that says U3 dose not have a good story is wrong it’s probably the best game before U4 too have good character development between Sully and Nate and the relationship between Alana and Nate is stronger. The twist to have a female villain I really liked fresh and new and Naughty Dog team wanted to give the players big Hollywood set peace’s this time around that’s why we have the plane sequence and the cruise ship sequence. U2 had the train U3 had the plane and the cruise ship. Is U3 my fav no for me it’s U2 and U4 but it in no way almost killed the franchise 6 million copies sold that’s pretty successful
Am i only one that think ots the best one out of the franchise? Water air desert jungle in france burning house escaping from titanic so many adventures... and 2 is the most boring really the plot is predictable drags on forever and repetetive im lookin at you train sequence...
What i hated about the game is there was very little interaction between characters, especially during the pirate kidnapping section.sully and helena were completely absent during the ship sequences.and also the nate stumbling like a drunk man and seeing wierd things sections were completely unnecessary.uncharted 2 was more story driven and made more sense
U3 had great themes. More places - london , france , beatiful castle at night, in syria then the yemen, cruise ship, airport at night, freakin empty desert. U1 had one jungle for example. U3 is a part of my chilhood.
I'm surprised to see how many people praise U3's multiplayer. I preferred U2's multiplayer. I remember being disappointed when they introduced the grenade throwback mechanic. As far as I know, me and my brother were one of the first people that popularized a sort of martyrdom by dropping a grenade on the floor in a close quarters gunfight when we knew we would lose it.
It’s good to know what went on in development and it makes things a bit clear as to why there isn’t all that much going on and feels a bit smaller than 2. I feel like 1 & 2 have laid down enough for me to overlook any reason to out-do them and at this point it’s best to focus on our beloved main characters relationship progression and retain the atmosphere, mood, and chemistry. I think they did great by focusing on them in order to setup for 4. The way I see it- 1 was to get us hooked and let ND know if we’re ready for the best #2, then 3 is like a 2.5, and 4 is the finale.
I spite of its issues, 3 is still a good game in all fairness. It was my introduction to the series, so it’s hard for me to say it’s bad. Nowadays, I think it’s the weakest, but I enjoyed it.

U3 was my first and favorite. Followed by 4, 2 and 1. And i understand the villians not being fleshed out enough, however uncharted 4 left out the super natural element the end of the game.
Stupid Sony rushed them to meet the release date deadline, as well as splitting the team was a big mistake for Uncharted 3. Was still a great game with the amount of time they had to develop. This is why the creator of Uncharted, Amy Hennig was fired because Neil Druckmann was so revered for The Last of Us after it came out (which he had way more time to make and a more sizeable team to develop) and since Uncharted 3 was the "low point" in the series. His "vision" for Uncharted 4 differed from her's, because Uncharted 4 originally wasn't going to be the last game in the series and involve characters from Uncharted 3 as well as Nate's brother being more of a villain character, they also went back to being a single team for their games. So they scrapped that original idea. It's pretty sad that Amy's vision and basically her whole creation was stripped from her due to this, which is pretty unfair and kinda douchey from ND higher-ups.

Yall really killed one of my favorite youtube personalities.
The Uncharted trilogy knew exactly what it was doing with each games’ themes, environments, enemies, and McGuffins.
Not one game fell out of line from the overall vision of the saga.
Uncharted 1 - Where: South America jungles, Enemies: Erratic pirates
Theme: CHAOS
This is why El Dorado was perfect as the McGuffin because it made people into horrifying monsters and CHAOTIC pirates with no class nor discipline were the perfect enemy to find it.
Uncharted 2 - Where: The wintry Himalayas, Enemies: Mercenaries
Theme: STRENGTH
Lazarevic was the Bane to Nathan Drake’s Batman. The ultimate physical threat to prove who is pound for pound the strongest man.
This is why the Tree of Life was the perfect McGuffin because Lazarevic and his mercenaries wanted to maximize their STRENGTH.
Uncharted 3 - Where: The Rub ‘al Khali desert, Enemies: A covert secret order
Theme: FEAR
Marlowe was the ultimate psychological enemy for Nate.
FEAR, CHAOS, STRENGTH
And that’s reflected in each game’s enemies.
The pirates from the first game were chaotic. The mercenaries from the second game were brute force. The secret order in the third game was fear.
Agree. These so called fans just hate the 3rd game for shit reasons

Agree that Uncharted 3 was a step down from Uncharted 2, but disagree that with implication that the departure of Neil Druckmann was important since for the first two, Amy Hennig and Bruce Straley held a larger role.
Agreed.
In hindsight, despite its flaws Uncharted 3 was a superior game to 4 at least in my humble opinion. And yeah it speaks to the less involvement Neil has with a game, the better for its overall quality. Mr No Fun can go touch grass.
@@QueenSydon
Uh… debatable. 4 was more laid back compared to the Original PS3 Trilogy, but the story was REALLY good. This was before Neil’s Woke BS broke in Lost Legacy and ESPECIALLY Last of Us Part 2, so of course it’s good.
@@gameman5804 4 is the root of what you said, since it introduced Nadine. UC4 also has too much The Last of Us in it, which is wrong because Uncharted has always been about fun, not drama.

I saw two as a bigger issue. That final battle was annoying and there was a ton of points where the waves of enemies became just ridiculous
It was a little annoying but I feel like out of all 3 final bosses, it was the only one tht actually felt like a boss battle

Met my wife playing the co-op arena so I’d say it is up there for me.
Unpopular opinion- I liked it enough. For sure the weakest narratively though.
Uncharted 3 is one of those games that I know has a ton of problems, plot holes, loose threads and things that flat out just make zero sense. But I still love it because it's just so darn fun to play.
Not enough Elena in Uncharted 3.
U3 gave us at the time everything fans wanted too see
What happened to the other voice?
But considering the situation pointed out in this video I have to say that it's amazing that we still got that good of a game.
very good points you bring up . next time I'll play it again with a more critical eye . But indeed the game is good .
My problem with 3’s story was that it couldn’t decide what it wanted to do, between asking “what are you trying to prove?” Why can’t that be enough?”
Saying “this isn’t worth it, let this one go”
And on the flip side we got another world threatening supernatural thing in a brass vessel…kind of gives off mixed messages.
It had issues, but clearly people adored it and still do.
watch the video.... he isn't talking about it not being good
I fricking love Uncharted 3 - I don't at all get, why some people seem to hate Uncharted 3
Uncharted 3's co-op horde mode was so fun
I completely disagree with you uncharted 3 was the best of the first 3 uncharted games, uncharted has been doing better every new game. Since uncharted 1 I was admiring every little detail from clothes getting wet when walking in puddles ( It was a big deal when it was the first game I played on the ps3 ) to the graphics. All of them were wonderful games.
First game I played on the PS3 too was U1
My only criticism of the uncharted series is the supernatural monsters that have to be fought, I prefer the more realistic fight sequences
Agreed
Had its flaws but it was still a strong entry to the franchise.
UC3 was great. UC2 was better. I didn't really care for the fake-out deaths in 3.
Not sure how I feel about the new format. Feels very... corporate. Hope Tyler makes an appearance from time to time at least.
He wont, channel was sold
No. Nope. Nada. You can suggest it's weaker than 2 and 4 and I reckon most Uncharted fans would agree but suggesting it almost killed the franchise is utter crap
It didn't nearly kill the franchise, it actually allowed it to evolve. the meeting of Sully and Drake was great, The nods to Laurence of Arabia were awesome 👌
it's an underrated gem.
Love how all the comments are disagreeing with your points, U3 is a masterpiece.
This is a pretty bad take. Your last few videos seem to be going for shock value. Rather than the well researched, documentary presentation we all came here for.

I enjoyed U3 as much as U2 because the story was never the focus in my opinion. It was always about the action and setpieces.
So did the channel get sold or something? Lmao
Tbh I prefer when there is no supernatural element, since those made Uncharted kind of a copy of Tomb Raider.
@@Kerrogann Let's be honest here... they both copied Indiana Jones but with a modern day setting.
The supernatural elements to me were also a let down to me. It may not be that much but it was part of the formula established in the first 2 games. The 3 one was heading there but left it in ambiguity and not confirming it.
4 disappointed me with that lack of supernatural elements and Druckman being in charge of the game.
I go back and forth about it being my favorite in the series. I had no idea it was plagued with so many problems. I wish this video was longer.
Where's Clean Prince?!
Loved the game, but that shipyard and cruise ship levels were such a pointless waste of time, story-wise. Made no sense.
Yeah just off the title that's way off...
Uncharted 3 was a damn good game
definitely the most tedious part of my uncharted binge i did recently. had some good moments here and there but i always felt off by it
Uncharted 3 may not have been as good as Uncharted 2 but it was still a good, fun game with some incredible set pieces and still had great reviews. It really wasn't close to being a franchise killer, that's just ridiculous. A franchise killer (or potential franchise killer) is a genuinely bad game, something like Devil May Cry 2.
This is what I like to see on this channel. An honest video essay, not some rant that appeases to algorithms. Keep up the good work!
Glad you're back!
Thanks for sticking around!!
This.... is the first I've heard anyone say it nearly killed the franchise
Man you can be dead wrong sometimes.
I dunno what you’re talking about mate. This game was amazing. It didn’t need “powerful villain”, cause it was supposed to show Nate’s story and what made him so obsessed.
For me it's due to the story. When they moved away from the supernatural and started going with "more realistic".
That's uncharted 4 tho
Honestly, that's more boring than cursed sarcophagus makes people into monsters or Jason Statham cosplay finds the tree of life and immortality...immediately regrets his decision.
Same here. I love the supernatural elements of the First two games!!
I still really enjoyed U3 but I will say it was not on the level of U2 so in that way it was a bit disappointing. If I had to rank. U2, U4, U3 and U1
Water air desert jungle in france burning house escaping from titanic so many adventures... and 2 is the most boring really the plot is predictable drags on forever and repetetive im lookin at you train sequence...
dang this was my favorite uncharted
Uncharted 3 is great!!!!!!!!
Im almost done playing through it after all these years and its really good, better than people’s popular opinion. God i miss the multiplayer.
So how exactly was Uncharted _not_ a 3rd person action adventure game?
Looked like a fairly standard story game to me.
What happened to Tyler? This sounds nothing like him.
Seems like he sold his channel 😪
@@zion4176 I'm not sure, I just checked through his other channel Nerdstalgic, and that one seems to switch between him and at least one or two other narrators. So it sounds like it might just be multiple people now?
Uncharted 3 is the best one in me opinion.
U3 was my first and favorite. Followed by 4, 2 and 1. And i understand the villians not being fleshed out enough, however uncharted 4 left out the super natural element the end of the game.
I was expecting to see people agree with him in the comments but it was the exact opposite. Glad to see that. Or maybe I'm just too early
This is the most ridiculous title of a video I’ve ever seen, how the mighty have fallen, not even a hot take just a stupid one
