I turned 68 today, and I still don't feel good enough. I spent my birthday all alone. A few Facebook well wishes, but that's all. I went from an abusive childhood with a narcissistic mother to a marriage for 10 years to an abusive narcissistic man. I have been divorced for 20 years now. My life is loveless, but I have no trust in my ability to attract or discern a good person.
I was married to a narcissist until about three months ago he passed away. I was suffering the narcissistic abuse from him for a lot of our relationship and I do have PTSD and anxiety from it. What I can say is that a big key to all of this is that you have to believe that these things are true. When you hear a professional say "do breathing techniques" or "you need to work on your self love," sometimes you'll hear it but you won't actually believe it will work. What I had to do was suspend my belief and just trust that it would work and once I started practicing these techniques & what I'd learned, even during the abuse, was starting to help in a major way. If you're in a situation like this, my advice would be just go with it and just try. You can't lose anything you can only gain. Great video!💜☮️
Being a child of an alcoholic mother, I and the rest of my siblings were set up to support her “secret”. Four of us are or were married to narcissistic spouses while the other two are mean self centered people. I think it’s important to understand that behaviors of a boarder line personality disorder are taught to their children. So a child will display the beliefs and behaviors during their lives without the having a boarder line personality disorder with narcissistic tendencies. For example a narcissists sees the world in extreme black and white, and are they always the victims. The child sadly mirrors this world view. You can call them empaths , but they are just children and adults who don’t have good boundaries or tools for coping.
I’m so sorry you went through this. What your talk about is complex PTSD. Trauma from childhood and your system trying to keep you safe with familiarity. Bring an empath is actually something based on science with mirror neurons etc. Have a look at the HeartMath institute in New York as it’s not woo woo but backed by science.
