Hey complex, I have a solid opinion on the detent and action. When the lefty f95 zero came out a while ago, I was in a position to jump. The lefty neon wasn't for me and I passed on it. We are in a "not war" with Russia currently. This really looked like my last chance to get a Shirogorov. But, what if something happened to it, sending it back is not so much an option, not for a while at least. I had a great solution... I just bought two of them! :0 One has a rather strong detent and the other is more medium. The medium one is the parts knife/lost the other one knife. I really like the strong detent. That blade is heavy and if it opens tip up in my pocket... God help my arteries!!! For the first few weeks of carry I had to be cautious to keep my finger off the lock bar. Now, it's not much different either way. It always opens hard and so far, (doing superstitious thing now) hasn't open in my pocket. Both needed the factory lube cleaned out to drop, but they both dropped shut immediately after cleaning. I think most will drop from the factory if you adjust the pivot carefully and remove any thick lube. Running dry for over a month and never looking to go back. I had been CRK only, for mostly lefty reasons, for several years despite a temporary Maxamet mini addiction. Always a small to work and a large at other times. Carbon fiber knife art ones for casual days, all titanium ones for yard/woods workdays, damascus ones because I have money to waste... The f95 has kicked them out. I have forced myself to carry the CRK's some days to prevent Shiro burnout and to justify having over 20 CRK's laying around. Tldr; The (lefty) F95 zero is the best knife in my collection. It became the Russian Czar of my knife drawer. Both came perfect and are absolutely identical other than one has a little softer detent.
Short of customs this is the best EDC knife money can buy. It is that simple. I am a newbie but have purchased several models and there are no words. By the way your reviews are spectacular you are the Doug DeMuro of Knife reviewers and you know more about knives than anyone on the Internet. That’s my opinion
My God. This is beautiful. Absolute knife perfection. Even with the round pivot.. for a Shiro? Bring it. I like the weird flashy drippy stuff too, but there is just something about a simple Shiro. Monochrome will never go out of style. It will never look dated. I do have some clones I bought years ago, *not* counterfeits. Still not proud of it, but I will absolutely own the real thing one day.. or die trying. Oddly enough, I’d lean towards the f3, which is very odd for my usual tastes. Thanks for sharing MC, this is definitely my jam, give it a couple extra flips for me. Like pouring one out for the homies. 😁👍
I'm a titanium snob and will take Ti anytime instead of CF. Almost all of my blades are Ti. They just age well. Got my F95 zero at 900 brand new. No complaints. won't look back on the CF F3.
if you squeeze the lockbar on any shiro you will see it lock up more and the lock bar begin to bow.. that's by design.. and that's why shiros have a tab on the lock bar insert to prevent over travel during hard use in the OTHER direction... 🙂
Just picked this up. Love it. I have an F3 green micarta, Quantem2, and ursus. Of those the F3 detent is the easiest but my f95 is just a hair behind it and better than the quantems. Also agree with you on the F3 filling up the hand better.
Absolutely love the size and looks of these megabuck knives that will probably just stay as personal Grails for me. I like the slotted screws on the exterior: IMHO they look much much cleaner than Torx and much easier to clean from pocket lint as well using a toothpick. A tritium tube would probably look great on the pivot screw slot too when cleanly done with properly cured Norland UV resin.
Hi MC! This comment is a bit late, sorry I couldn't stay in sync for a few days, great content as usual! And as a hint, there are F3s in MICARTA on sale on Shirogorov's home site, so it is quite possible that some of your dealers will start getting them sometime soon too. Watch out!
Fellow lefty here, I bought two as soon as I saw them on Recon1. Little did I know they would be in stock so long. I had to get rid of some stuff, but they were a welcome addition and I have zero regrets.
I bought two because I wasn't sure parts would be available and if we were going to get into a nuclear with the makers government. I must ask... What drove you to get three of the same knife? Did you get the from Recon 1? The lefties sat there FOREVER!!!!!
@@ToxicityAssured I bought my first one, and sold it to chase something else, and so on. I currently have none again, but will likely get another in the future. Always chasing something haha
@@jdisdetermined it’s MRBS, multi-row bearing system, so the ball bearings. I believe the roller bearings are denoted as SRRBS or DRRBS, single/double row roller bearing system
I wouldnt pay for real deal but shamefully I did pay for Green Thorn ... cant compare to real one but for 75 bucks it is better than any Benchmade I handled .. except it having K110 steel it feels nice, tight, drop shut, smooth, nice fit and finish ... So if somebody wanna that shiro and dont wanna pay $$$ .. If you dont have moral issues, just get the GT F95. it is worth the price, it would be worth quite more ..
I have one of their F3 clones, It looked cool to me before I really knew who Shiro were, now I'm desperately trying to figure out how to buy a real one. I try not to buy from Ali these days (especially when it's a small maker or something being cloned!) but without having picked that up on a whim, I would never have known how much I would love the design, and certainly wouldn't have even considered spending what an original costs. It's not always simple.
I think the reason they do that with the gymping on the F95 is to match the gear pattern on the back I don't really think it's jimping I just think it's decorative gear pattern on the front to match the back
Hey Metal Complex you need to try the F95 Turtle Gen 4!! Amazing amazing amazing!! Thinner blade stock and crazy details in the Turtle patern scales borrowed from custom division knives! In my opinion is a knife with so much detail that worth the eleven hundred territory. I am sure you gonna like it alot!!
Hey metal complex was just on blade hq and saw the benchmade infidel was discontinued. Have you seen or heard anything about it or why it was discontinued?
My brand new Hati Gen3 has a much stronger detent than my f3ns and two f95nl’s. I am wondering if they are heading in a heavier detent direction. It has softened a bit after a break in period but is still pretty hefty
I've got a F95t gen4 l don't know how it could get any better It's got the better jimping the CPS... 3.5 mm Blade stock It's a laser ...the action is crazy smooth. Close your eyes. You can't even feel it close... But with that said, I've got a pimp purple F3NS that I traded for. Should get it in about a week so we'll see.. Regardless, love me some Shiro's!! 🐢Power!! 😂👊🏼
Great video! I like my F95 zero more than my F3NS because unfortunately my F3 has more of a weak detent. Lol even though the F95 cut me pretty damn good when my finger slipped off the flipper. Any ideas on how to get my F3 to have a stronger detent?
I'm glad my f95 zero has a strong detent for pocket safety reasons. The blade moves so freely... If it opens, then you are in real trouble! Mine came a little dull the last 1/2 inch of the blade by the flipper. When I sharpened it, I left it dull. That little non razor blade section saved me a few times.

great knife, but i may be in the minority here i think i like the look and hold of the herman slim over the shirogorov. i may need to hold the F3 to complete my opinion but...
I got the slim and I don't know if it is just that specific knife but holy hell the detent was HEAVY - like giving my thumb a black eye heavy. What's the point of a detent that you can't open without wincing? And the ano on it got scratched off on the clip in about 1 day of wear.... and now i didn't let any metal objects into the pocket.... Anyways that turned me off to Herman knives... So i got a shiro (ursus nl the "cheap" one ) instead and that's been great.
You can go to their website. It’s in Russian but they have other steels use like m690 if I’m remembering right… I honestly don’t remember the steel or if that is even the right number but yeah lol
