i recently bought the base level work sharp precision adjust and while i have no doubt these pieces will enhance the experience, the device itself is by no means terrible without them and deserves praise.
Thanks for the great info and all of the links. These 3D printed aftermarket parts are going to be a godsend for me and actually make my sharpening MORE consistent. I was sick and tired of having to hold the Precision Adjust with one hand and use the other to sharpen my knives. It was a major pita and my angles were slightly off because of it, resulting in less sharper blades. I'll be buying these 3D printed parts within the next few days, including a 1"x4" leather strop too from Amazon. Now I can FINALLY start sharpening my 30+ folding knives and at least that many COMPLETELY dull kitchen knives. The stabilizer for under the knife clamp, and the base stabilizer for the end of my table are definitely going to make the biggest difference. I am hoping and praying that the magnetic low angle clamp works as good as I hope it does!!! I'm also going to buy 1x of his wooden 5 knife displays and 1x of his wooden 10 knife displays. Now I'm really excited to get everything and start using my Precision Adjust again. I've been so fed up with it and disgruntled, that I've only used it on a handful of knives. And also, thank you VERY much for your other videos. I watch a lot of them, and I'm rarely on UA-cam watching shit. But when I am, I'm usually watching your knife videos. Especially anything about the Precision Adjust
Jerad, I have been sharpening knives for a very long time but you have really "Honed" my sharpening game. I get better results much more consistently while freehand and fixed angle sharpening after learning from your videos. Pay attention people, this is good to know. Thanks Jerad!
12+ years ago I bought a Course, Fine and X-Fine 3 X 8 Dia=Sharp Plates. I have since acquired the WS Elite Knife Sharpening Solution, also The Ken Onion and also this Precision Adjust. I went back to hand sharpening on 8 X 3 Dia-Sharps and recently added the same size double sided VID for polishing. Couldn’t be happier. I don’t own a recurve yet, but the fact that I might and maybe some major re-profiling and sharpening and polishing ancillary other tools is the only reason that I see for keeping the Elite. If folks listen to your hand sharpening videos they can do with out all this stuff and the time it takes to set it up and put it away and store it. I RV a lot and one small zipper clutch bag contains everything I need. Quite frankly, I’m producing better results that all those high tec systems did.
Awesome vid with great information for anyone with the worksharp system. Love how specific your recommendations are for this system and how helpful all the sharpening tips you've given in the past, they are amazing for anyone who wants to get into sharpening or who have been sharpening for years. Keep up the great work and keep making sharp things fun and enjoyable
Really great video showcasing some of these fantastic mods for the Worksharp system! However, I have one gripe which must be on other peoples minds... One of the good things about this system is the cost. It's a great system, for a reasonable amount of money. (£50-60 approx here in the UK). These 3rd party, mods are exellent, but to suggest stones that cost as much or MORE than the whole system itself? And to get a few different grits too? Say goodbye to £200+ for about 3 stones. That's triple the cost of the entire sharpening system dude. Might was well just buy a £200 sharpener at that point.
Very true. But even with the higher priced systems your still going to need to buy stones, it's just the way it is sadly. With that said, you are still paying significantly less with this system as opposed to any of the tsprof type systems out there. The closest in price to this is the kme and it's still nearly 2x thr price. Just my .02
I think the average user will be fine with the elite system, and if looking for a mirror polish add a 3D printed lapping film holder and a set of lapping films for like $20. $119 + $20 and you’ve got enough get a screaming sharp edge and a mirror polish if desired (and even fix a lightly damaged edge). Anything else is going down the rabbit hole for diminishing returns.
Appreciate your content. Questions: 1) in terms of results, what difference is there be stones vs sandpaper and 2) method to sharpen serrated blades. Thanks
Wonder how a clay bar used for automotive paint would work n the ceramic. I got a Spyderco’s bigger stones. Will give it a go and report back. Great video! The knife holder support block if you're using the aftermarket bigger stones, yeah, you'd probably need that support, but if you're flexing that with the stones that come with the kit, you'd be applying to much pressure...of course!!
I’ve had The bench stone knife sharpener from them and the guided sharpening system but the one that I have currently that I’d love is the field sharpener for 30 bucks It’s the best value
I’m new to knife sharpening, but the field sharpener is great IMO. Was able to put some pretty decent edges on all of my kitchen knives, my main fixed blade and some pocket knives. Definitely worth 30 bucks
I just got the 60$ one and love it. I still want to get good at hand sharpening but with good diamond stones and develop more patience. This helps me when I'm impatient to get a good edge. Best sharpening system hands down is the Tormek t-4 or T-8 just because its a wet stone system and will allow the edge to stay sharper longer sins no dry sharpening is heating up and softening the fine final edge.
I added a small piece of black foam in the back of the knife clamp to hold the clamp open. I really didn't like the way they just flopped around when trying to put a knife in. I was going to put some small springs in but the black foam works perfect.

I have another video on these and there's a link in the description to etsy, so the maker is on Etsy. Gritomatic has a few things as well that are aftermarket attachments but not 3d printed
The one I have I leave in a fixed position I normally don't screw or unscrew it after I have it where I want it, that's what I was trying to explain in the video
Great information and attachments for the work sharp! Are all these stones the same thickness as that can affect your sharpening angle. Edit: I see you addressed that later in the video
Looks like I need to drop some more money into this thing. It's still in the box lols. Speaking of which I still need to send you my Kristal Knives Bronze Horseman 2 to fix the tip. It came bent or burred, can't tell. 👉💥
As thin as the Worksharp stones are, a recurve attachment seems a bit redundant. The basic Worksharp stones should be fine for recurves wouldnt you think? They are only 1/2 inch wide.
The Buck Spitfire has a difficult recurve. I used diamond to make it flat on my s35vn version as it was being a pain with the worksharp. Now? Easy peasy to sharpen!
Using the support changes the angle by 4~5 degrees and is a bit of a pain in the butt to change constantly does anyone else agree that using light pressure the angle doesn't change on a stock setup ?
The attachments that keep the blade holder ridge, where can I get a couple ?? I not very savory on the internet so someone PLEASE let me know. Thanks in advance.
I linked it in the description, there's an arrow on the side, or a spot that says more, hit that and the description will pop down and you can hit the links but here I grabbed it for you. AFTERMARKET ATTACHMENTS www.etsy.com/shop/Practical3DP
Is there a less expensive set of stones that will work nearly as well? Im kinda looking bang for the buck hence buying the worksharp vs kme or wicked edge. I purchased the 3d printed items you recommended but got a bit of sticker shock on some of the stones. Help a broke brotha out please 🙏
@@NeevesKnivesdo u recommend a 140 atoma plate and the f100-f800 venev set (2 double sided stones). Im trying to not by a ton of unnecessary stone/plates? Btw thanks for responding to me.
@@Toasty_Woasty no that would be to big of a jump, you need a stone between those, the f800 and f1200 are polishing stones, the atoma 140 is an extra coarse reprofiling stone, so you need something around 300 and 600 then 1200 before going to the f800, the venev stones grit rating is different f1200 is around 5000 grit, get the atomas 140, 400, 1000, or the atoma 140 then the venev 240/400
@@NeevesKnives awesome that helps a lot. The venev numbers are a bit confusing. I thought i could use the atoma 140 then venev plates f100 , f240, f400 and finish on f800. Ill order what u are recommending, thanks again.
Can you please tell me have you tried to sharpen microtech ultratech with this worksharp. I’m concerned the narrow blades won’t work especially on the utx70 being so tiny.
@@NeevesKnives can you recommend a similar system that’s guided like this but not extremely expensive that would work well with them. My collection consist of more than 10 ultratechs utx85s and utx70s
@@jamesfair9751 the lansky but make sure you get the system with diamond plates, and the base will be sold separately but is a must. If your not scared of freehand with guide angles the work sharp field sharpener is amazing
@@NeevesKnives I just noticed when looking at the aftermarket parts for the worksharp they have a magnetic blade holder it says for getting very low angles. I would assume that would work on the ultratechs but I’m not sure it could hold the knife without moving around.
You could, I think most people that will give this route will be buying it in parts not all at once. Obviously if you have the money all at once get the kme, and if you have even more go with TS prof.
I hate to say it but for the price of the kit with the extra grits, then add in all the extras, it puts me so close to the price of the pro model I might as well just save a bit longer for that one
I linked some other ones in the description the greater dogs are just wider but are not necessarily better, the 1 inch ones work great, they are a great width for Sharpening. But no I don't know, you can probably buy some directly from Russia
@@NeevesKnives I watched a review on tsprof and it’s highly recommended. I might check into that one. It’s a little expensive but I’m betting well worth the $$
Follow the grit pattern, you probably tried putting to low of an angle on it which is much more time to sharpen especially on a system with small stones, you need a coarser stone or use a higher angle
@@NeevesKnives thats the confusing thing ive been using a sharpie to double check my reprofile progress and it should be full contact by now. So you think i should hit it with a more abrasive stone(i have your aftermarket recommended parts ) and be extra diligent

Venev stones are made in Russia, they make a lot of different stones, and I think that stone has been being bought up, but usually wasn't there most popular, the regular dogs work just as good

The one I have I leave in a fixed position I normally don't screw or unscrew it after I have it where I want it, that's what I was trying to explain in the video
thanks for the video. Is there an attachment for convex grinds?
I'm not sure
Where do we find the stone holder and the under grip ???
Links in description the second one should have everything
Nice extras, but i have a hard time buying a product then spending more to improve to a point the way it should come from factory
where can you get the base holder and scissor clamp?
YOU CAN GET THE STONE HOLDERS FROM MY HAPSTONE LINK IN MY MOST RECENT VIDEOS, OTHERS ARE FOUND ON ETSY
What are the ruby stones for
Is the table top attachment still available? Wasn't in the links.
Thanks
Check my other attachments video, it's linked in that one, however you can find them on Etsy
@@NeevesKnives Thanks for the response!
Great tips.. great vids... thanks por your tips and all...
Way to advanced for me! But like I said in another video, you really know your s- - t!
Great information and attachments for the work sharp! Are all these stones the same thickness as that can affect your sharpening angle.
Edit: I see you addressed that later in the video
How well does the 6” holder fit the slide rod??
Fine, but you can't get the full length of the stone to hit the edge on most knives
Where did you get the bracket for holding the sharpener base?
Links in description
Looks like I need to drop some more money into this thing. It's still in the box lols. Speaking of which I still need to send you my Kristal Knives Bronze Horseman 2 to fix the tip. It came bent or burred, can't tell. 👉💥
Yeah hit me up
@@NeevesKnives will do my brother
The first accessory you show does not have a link?
The second link takes you directly to all the aftermarket attachments that were 3d printed
These are all 3d printed items, where can we get the files? The etsy shop only sells fully printed from what I can tell.
As thin as the Worksharp stones are, a recurve attachment seems a bit redundant. The basic Worksharp stones should be fine for recurves wouldnt you think? They are only 1/2 inch wide.
Yes absolutely
The Buck Spitfire has a difficult recurve. I used diamond to make it flat on my s35vn version as it was being a pain with the worksharp. Now? Easy peasy to sharpen!
Using the support changes the angle by 4~5 degrees and is a bit of a pain in the butt to change constantly does anyone else agree that using light pressure the angle doesn't change on a stock setup ?
The attachments that keep the blade holder ridge, where can I get a couple ?? I not very savory on the internet so someone PLEASE let me know. Thanks in advance.
I linked it in the description, there's an arrow on the side, or a spot that says more, hit that and the description will pop down and you can hit the links but here I grabbed it for you.

nice
How well is the stone holder made? Look like some cheap plastic...
Yes diamond plates, any really, atoma is great or any gritomatic 1×4 diamond plate
Yeah you could do it but it will be a very high angle
@@NeevesKnives can you recommend a similar system that’s guided like this but not extremely expensive that would work well with them. My collection consist of more than 10 ultratechs utx85s and utx70s
@@jamesfair9751 the lansky but make sure you get the system with diamond plates, and the base will be sold separately but is a must. If your not scared of freehand with guide angles the work sharp field sharpener is amazing
@@NeevesKnives I’ve ruined every blade I’ve ever tried to free hand lol never tried anything expensive but I’m pretty sure I would mess them up too.
@@NeevesKnives I just noticed when looking at the aftermarket parts for the worksharp they have a magnetic blade holder it says for getting very low angles. I would assume that would work on the ultratechs but I’m not sure it could hold the knife without moving around.
With all this kit, shouldn't you just get a KME?
You could, I think most people that will give this route will be buying it in parts not all at once. Obviously if you have the money all at once get the kme, and if you have even more go with TS prof.
stone holder looks very good but with postage its over £85 so will give it a miss
I hate to say it but for the price of the kit with the extra grits, then add in all the extras, it puts me so close to the price of the pro model I might as well just save a bit longer for that one
Micky Mouse Sharpener!!
Anybody know when these venev greater dog stones are supposed to be back in stock?? Ive been looking for a couple weeks still not in stock.
I linked some other ones in the description the greater dogs are just wider but are not necessarily better, the 1 inch ones work great, they are a great width for Sharpening. But no I don't know, you can probably buy some directly from Russia
Would like to have a complete system that didn’t require buying any aftermarket parts. Does anyone know of such a system?
Kme or tsprof
@@NeevesKnives I watched a review on tsprof and it’s highly recommended. I might check into that one. It’s a little expensive but I’m betting well worth the $$
No attachments ship to Canada...
I believe my venev Scorpion stones are 3 inch.
1×4
Take a shot every time he says grit
Man has anyone had a crkt helical. Ive tried sharpening it so much using this and the shit just wont make a good burr and wont get shaving sharp
Or buy a KME ?
👍👍👍👍👍
I should of bought this one, rather than the KME.
Is it better to just buy an elite system instead of buying this and all the aftermarket parts?
Probably, I'd you don't have a system yet then yes I'd advise to just get a complete system, you will probably want to get other stones exc in the future but you will have all the parts, try KME or TSPROF Blitz or KADET
Or buy a good sharpener like the tsprof blitz blase. Compared to that the work sharp is just a plastic toy.
TMI TMI overload! The sharpener seems like it's too compact to me but I could be wrong!
It's supposed to be compacts
great video just can't buy the greater dog lol all bought up. Must be a low small production company.
Venev stones are made in Russia, they make a lot of different stones, and I think that stone has been being bought up, but usually wasn't there most popular, the regular dogs work just as good
@@NeevesKnives yea, I did buy one of the 400-800 6x1 stones to use with the attachments for the worksharp, it's a solid stone, just have not tried it out yet. The attachments are nice and they seem well made by the guy that prints them.
@@NeevesKnives I also got the SWEET! add ons to the WorkSharp sharpener from this guy on etsy and they are really solidly made and sick. Thanks for showing me.
