just got the game.. 5 games played.. love it a lot. i wish wingspan would have used some of the ideas in this game to really increase the indirect competition of the game. Burano has a great tight design. yes a lot of solo modes are point thresholds. But i think the boardgame industry is starting to focus on solo modes and coming up with competitive cards driven AI. Anyways, lot of people should get this game especially families along with Hanamikoji. EmperorS4 has a few great designs. Rahdo if you ever do top lists of small box games. my vote is on Burano to be on there.
You should try this game with 4 players. It plays very different from 2 players. Given that there is not enough cards for the base construction, by the game end you are almost forced to violate the construction rules for building the houses... So it is a balance of optimizing the resources to complete a goal and violating the construction rules.
Perhaps an AI in solo along the lines of each specialist that gets discarded removes a certain tile he is associated with (fixed but different in advance of course - say flowerguy takes the rectangle with the most flowers, santa takes the rightmost chimney stuff like that). That would make the game a bit more intricate. Otherwise I don''t see an AI actively working against you in any meaningful way.
I played this at least 6-7 times and still love it. I played with 2, 3, and 4. I think it's underrated. It's my cup of tea.
i agree, it's great!
Thanks for the run through and final thoughts. Pre-ordered this one months ago and am anxiously awaiting it's U.S. release.
Did you play with Jen yet? If so how was it? Just purchased this and I’m very excited to play it!

it would be a very likely candidate, though i like walking in provence even more! :)
@@rahdo cool, will have to checkout their "Walking.." series. Thanks for the recommendation
Would love to see an addendum to your final thoughts once you've had a chance to play with more players...
Rahdo's (or any other reviewer's) thoughts are never final, but the term sounds nice.
yeah, tbh i wish i had never named the wrap up portions "final thoughts", as it is a bit misleading :)

I got 87 in my second solo try

good idea!
Hey hey! What did Jen think of it? What did you think of the multiplayer?
sadly we haven't gotten to play it together! :(
