      The health care is amazing there. It’s the services that are expensive but it’s expensive here in Europe too. Costs are just allocated differently instead of paying directly to the hospital or ambulance company, you pay higher taxes where the government decides where the money goes

      @@paradox9369 the Netherlands. I’m Dutch, and if you can’t afford insurance it’s just as expensive. I have personally lived in both the US and the Netherlands but am fortunate enough to have good money and parents who pay for me, but some of my friends don’t have that and things get very expensive for them just like in the US. My friend was involved in a car accident on the bike and since she did not have insurance she had to pay for the surgery out of pocket. Same situation in the US if you can’t afford it. Nothing is free

      @@M2161 Sure nothing is free, but cheaper. Sorry to hear about what you have went through. I'm also European and I think our taxes are not as high, definitely the costs are much lower compared to your country and especially the US.
      I do agree that if an individual struggles with more serious and constant health issues, it can get expensive really fast.
      However, I think that the emergency care most European countries can give is invaluable. You don't have to worry about paying a fortune for the ambulance. I get nauseous thinking about how much my parents would have had to pay if they were in the US.

      It really is, I went riding dirt bikes with my friend when I was around 15 and he ended up crashing and snapping his leg in half, just hanging on by skin. His dad refused them sending a ambulance because of the cost. It’s messed up

      I think its also crazy that most people who do are on the pill. Not impossible on other forms but the pill isn't the easiest because if you are completely scheduled and taking the pill right, you gonna get pregnant

      Might have forgotten to take it every time which happens to almost everyone if they have a medication that needs to be taken regularly. However, even if one did not skip by mistake a day, there still does not exist a 100% guarantee that you won't get pregnant even if you use it in combination with condoms

      Sadly many times when the abortion route isn’t taken (when arguably it should have) children are born into abusive households- that’s when children suffer. Or they go into the over stretched foster system, again that’s when children suffer.

At the end of the day, I treat them the same and treat them by dictation of scientific facts and biology. If someone still feels they are treated different due to their personal afflictions or beliefs, I gracefully show them the exit and will even print out driving instructions to the next healthcare facility in the area that will treat them with the same dignity and respect that we showed them.

    Miscarriage is so hard and a lot of people don't know that it's actually fairly common. The statistics vary but the overall average is still a lot more often than you think. I think this knowledge needs to be more widely known as well. Sex education in general needs to be a lot more open.

      I've also heard it's actually the woman's body's way of protecting itself too. Pregnancy is a dangerous and laborious process. Sometimes things go wrong in the developmental stages. And to prevent the mother from getting hurt spontaneous abortion occurs. I'm not sure if it's true or not. But if it is it's a really interesting (and tragic) example of how your subconscious body and conscious body interact.

      Yes!! I frequently worry about getting into an accident (since I dont have insurance) and not being able to pay for medical care! Most people need to be able to afford $400-$600 monthly payments just for some basic coverage. And that's PER PERSON. Unfortunately the government does not care for us. But don't forget, we're "the best country in the world"! 😒

    Politically if you are against abortion you should also support all the programs needed to raise a child when their parents can't afford to and need assistance. Some of you are not pro-life you are pro-birth. You do not get to not want taxes to cover raising life if you claim to be pro-life.     Don't listen to that one woman btw y'all, you are not less of a woman or a person for having an abortion. Having an abortion is not covering up a mistake or not owning up to a mistake. Giving birth and having an abortion are both valid, adult, and responsible decisions. Don't ever feel ashamed for making either decision.
    EDIT: y'all are not getting the point. It doesn't matter which is "more responsible". The point is abortion doesn't make you any less of a person.

    My heart broke in half when she just said "yeah" to the operator just being with her. And then it broke in fourths when she said "I just really wanted my mom". Imagine all the young girls who go to those appointments, whether it be for a miscarriage or just a regular pregnancy check up, alone because no one is there to support them?

    I loveee the woman who talked about her struggle with an eating disorder. I have had an eating disorder since I was 16 and as time continues I am just even more scared of the idea of getting pregnant because I would not stand myself and would probably starve myself even more and spiral out of control. Not only that, but I definitely don't want a kid to have my genes; I have so many mental health conditions and predispositions that I would just hate myself for having a child knowing they can end up feeling as miserable, depressed, anxious, and worthless as I do everyday.

      Dealing with the consequence of sex (aka pregnancy) can include either keeping the baby (and then that can be split into raising it yourself or the adoptive route) or having an abortion. All valid options.
      Having an abortion IS dealing with the consequence of your actions, by the literal definition of the word.

      i think she meant more like she wasn't a kid or a young adult anymore. she was 26 at the time and probably felt like ok you were having unprotected sex, what did you expect to happen? in a way her partner and her wanted to get pregnant and probably viewed abortion as not something they should rely on to fix their situation but rather be mature and see the pregnancy through.

      I didn’t think my comments would be inferred in this way, but I’m glad folks are bringing it up! Just want to say that I agree his feelings shouldn’t be ignored - and they weren’t. We were both a week before graduation, not committed to each other, and I had this tremendous weight on my shoulders because I was making an important decision for the both of us. I was there for him in that moment and it was hard for me. He was the only other person in the world that knew what we were going through specifically, but I felt like I had to be strong too, because this was ultimately my decision to make, and it was very clear to me what I needed to do. I have so much love and respect for him, and I know we’ve been able to do great things with our lives since then

    Estrogen and progesterone are the chief pregnancy hormones. A woman will produce more estrogen during one pregnancy than throughout her entire life when not pregnant. The increase in estrogen during pregnancy enables the uterus and placenta to: improve vascularization (the formation of blood vessels)👍

      Age is just a number.
      You could be 26, be a doctor, own your own home, have a solid supportive partner etc
      You could be 26 and be single, be living with your parents to save for a house deposit etc
      You could be 26 and be a homeless drug addict
      You could be 26 and be starting off in your career, and simply don’t want a child.
      Age is just a number and has nothing to do with your ability to raise your child- it’s literally everything else that does

I feel like the American System needs to make ambulance more accessible to everyone even if they can’t afford it. It’s about helping people not the money!!!

    As a Brit the saddest and most shocking part for me was hearing that she couldn’t afford for someone to come in an ambulance, it’s just not something I’d even consider and it’s horrible that this is the reality for women in the US

    Schools need to stop splitting girls and boys for sex ed and teach them EVERYTHING about each other. Sick of hearing guys treat pregnancy like it’s nothing

      It’s literally the worst way to try to stop someone from getting an abortion too. If you tell someone they’re evil and going to hell, they’ll just be afraid of you and want to escape. But if you actually care about them and their baby then maybe you can genuinely help them. Those ppl are such posers

      @@elizabethgrey6040 Yes, exactly. Offering a different opinion alongside help outside of an abortion clinic is a positive thing, but shouting at them will not make them feel welcomed. Had the right people been outside, her baby may still be alive.

    After hearing this, I've came to the conclusion that if I will be able to have a wife one day (which is very unlikely) I don't think I would want her to go become pregnant. I mean, all of these sounds just horrible, I would curse myself if I would make my loved one go through all of this sh*t

      I genuinely hope my future husband has this mindset because my biggest fear is pregnancy. I even had a nightmare about it where I found out it was too late to abort and I literally threw myself down stairs :/

      @@EefkeL Holy sh*t that nightmare sounds just horrible! Just so you know, you don't have to have become pregnant if you don't want to - it has to be a decision between you and your partner, but you have the final word to say. Don't let anyone force it upon you. I think that there are lots of men who don't want to have babies, but I don't have any data on that. Remember, that there are other options to make family bigger, such as adoption, so just do what you feel you should do

    What the hell is wrong with American health care??? He was having a miscarriage, but was unable to call an ambulance bc she couldn't AFFORD it???? I know that Americans don't like the government to interfere in their health care and stuff like that but at what price? It's time for some changes

      Statistically there’s a small possibility of getting pregnant while on birth control. Pretty sure it depends on when you take it though and yeah it’s really scary that things like that can happen.

    I just lost my second baby due to miscarriage. My heart goes out for every woman that lost their baby and are sad about it. I know I will never ever forget that I had my baby’s in me for a while and even if they both made me really sick and tired, I loved them both. But time does go on and you do heal. The light in living will come back, you will be yourself again and it’s definitely is okay to grief.
    I cannot say that everyone will experience pregnancy again, it hurts to know that there are so many other woman out there with no chances of getting pregnant. I find myself in the situation where everyone tells me that they don‘t know if I can carry a baby ever again, especially full term.
    You are not alone. We will go through it and we will find joy in life again. I promise

      Children who are born to bad parents suffer for decades, so do those that get put in the system.

    The fact that ambulances cost money and it costs money to have a baby is ridiculous. When I hear people say things like “I told them not to send anyone because I couldn’t afford an ambulance” makes me so thankful that I live in the uk
