I'm 36 and this song still hits me hard; reminds me of my life in high school and how this album made me connect to so many people. Music feeds the soul.
2024 and I’m here really feeling the crushing feeling of getting older and missing the days of being front row of these shows every summer living like kings. Now I share my love of these bands with my kids who I hope carry the torch for the screamo bands.
If it gives you any hope, my 14 year old is super into the old emo/screamo/hard-core bands I loved, and has introduced me to some new ones! And now we go to front rows of these concerts as a family and I love it so much! May you be just as lucky ❤
I wasn't prepared for the emotional hit of listening to this as a 30 year old after I adored it as a 14-15 year old. I was in a really bad place mentally then and it's quite amazing that they still make me feel the way they made me feel all those years ago. Powerful music that people are always going to need.
@@Majorkip i’m not talking about when the song came out, lol. i’m literally talking about how it says 15 years ago as when the video was uploaded to youtube. The fact that it’s been 15 yrs since this video was uploaded to youtube is wild.
The lyrics "from up here the city lights burn like a thousand miles of fire" is forever stuck in my head. Something special about it, unsettling yet beautiful, I keep coming back to the song because of it after so many years.
I'm going down a emo nostalgia hole. I knew I loved this song in middle school, but I could only remember "city lights burn like a... something something" and now I suddenly remember everything
Ill make you feel a little better, my heyday was in the 80’s and 90’s from punk to the alternative movement…now i was in my early 30’s when the Emo movement began and i loved it! I am 52 now but i still go to the skate park with both my kids that are 18/20 yrs old and we listen to all the emo bands and alternative bands! To this day i still skate to this and surf! This music will never get old it just gets better!!!
Literally cried in the front row when they played this at the Brooklyn Bowl in Vegas this last weekend. Incredible band. Crazy energy for 1am. It’s a core memory for my sister and I, when we’d been dreaming of seeing them since Page Avenue.
Im 31 … mostly listen to rap/hip hop .. but back in the day i just used to watch videos all the time.. That’s how i know this song .. I miss those music video channels and shows:.
When I moved into my college dorm during the summer of my freshman year in 2004, all the TVs in the common areas played MTV U, and this song was on once an hour that entire summer. Every time I hear this song it reminds me of walking to dinner with my friends, talking about where we were going to go that night. Good times. Glad I had them.
Holy shit. I've been hunting this song down for over a decade. Had only vague remembrance of the lyrics/tune but I finally found it. I'd like to take this time t thank... myself.
I'm 55 and like my daughter says, I was raised an Emo mom. Just saw these guys in Chicago and this song was sooo powerful. Loved it!!!! Too bad they were cut short😢 but got to hear this song❤
Saw that show in Houston! We were in the nosebleed at the very side of the stage so I couldn’t hear crap. I can’t even remember if they played this or not. I remember the singer had a really emo haircut though hahaha!

I remember beeing a teenager listening to this band, hoobastank, linkin park, breaking benjamin, evanescensce, yellowcard, sum41 etc. It was a great era of music these years 2002-2006 something. Then I don't know what the f* happened really.
For me, the music I identify with most came between the mid-90s and mid-2000s. But there's been a lot of amazing songs both before and since this era; just not on the radio as often.

So much that I stayed on that song for many years that last year or 2, I decided to hear more songs from them. It's so damn worth hearing their song which are awesome to hear. Used to listen to this a lot last year when me and my baby’s mother broke up, my 3 year old daughter likes it so much now because I would always sing it. I remmember when i was 13... Now 33 and i still here, policeman, 1 kid, I think even when I'm 70 I'll still listen to these songs, Blink, greenday, LP, A7x, Creed, BBenjamin, The fray, The calling, Silverchair, Good charlot, My chermmical romance, Soasin, Story of the Year, TSTM, Yellowcard. 90' youth.
Me and my girlfriend had our kid the year this came out. while we were still in college. We were barely out of our teens, now our daughter is going off to college, only 2 years younger than we were at the time. I remember walking by her room and hearing this, along with other Screamo rock, I was taken aback.

First heard this song when i was on my ( OJT )on the job training in Davao. Year 2015. I was still 17 yrs old that time. Now it's 2022 and still love this song
Revisiting some old Story of the Year jams from Page Avenue, a big album for me in highschool. A lot of the pop punk bands can be a little cringe, just like all things that age, but looking back you can’t deny the talent here. Every piece of the band is really going for it from the drums, guitar, lyrics, vocals and the production values and mixing are excellent as well. Maybe it’s a bit manufactured and over saturated for the time period, but it still stands on its own. I mean, it’s aged better than some of the other 2000s pop punk. Cheers.
I was 14 years old since this music video uploaded on UA-cam... Now I'm 30 but everytime I listen to this song feels like I'm still a teen like before... The era of good old music still beats right before my very heart
Funnily enough im not here for nostalgia. I actually only recently got into this type of music but i absolutely love it. What an incredible band! Shoutout to And The Hero Will Drown.
I'm now 28 and a former emo. I remember rocking this song back when i was still 15-16. Though i cringe thinking back at it, i can't deny that i love this song and all other emo songs i've listened to back in the days.
kinda irrelevant but im 17 now and im emo, i always was but them i cut my hair everything and i never let the music taste go, im letting my hair grow again finally haha. i probably lost the best time to be emo but my i remember myself very young when my sis showed me this song when she was emo (she’s 27 now) and she still loves it both the songs and the style. Just like Willian said here, there isn’t a former emo, once emo always emo. 🤘🏻
I agree with you there's no such thing as former emo since i've returned here again. Only the cringe remains while thinking back of those tight black pants and the weird long hairs that covers the other side of the face and the excessive use of eyeliner 😂
When I Listen To This I Feel Like I'm In The Time Machine Going Back To My High School Days So Nostalgic Now I Have My Own Family And I Still Listening To This Gold Thank You
I fly for a living, and 100% of the time I fly at night I sing to myself “From up here the city lights burn, like a thousand miles of fire… and it takes me back to my teenage years every time!
I have no idea who Roman Atwood is. I remember seeing SOTY on Taste of Chaos '06 w/ Thrice, Silverstein, Deftones, Atreyu, As I Lay Dying, and The Receiving End of Sirens. Crazy that it's been more than 10 years. Some young kids in this jawn.
I don't know who mixed/recorded this album but it was a technical masterpiece. If you've not listened on good headphones or a stereo you don't know what I'm talking about. It was just a surround sound like I've never heard before.
This song helped me grieve the loss of my father when I was 21 in 2009. Hearing it again now, brings back all the pain I went through, how I overcame it, how strong I am today
This was my favorite song when I was a teenager now that I'm an adult listening to this again brought back so much memories..the message of this song seems deeper to now than when I was younger.
The most underrated band in the history of rock music.. they put out meaningful hits alot but it seems they dont get recognised enough.. been a fan for more than 18 years now.. ❤
Man.. Brought me back to the dark and wild teenage years. Reminiscing the old times can be such a torture and beautiful at the same time. Nearly two decades later, this song still has the same effect on me..!
2024 and this song still hits hard!! I'm 33 and this song still is 🔥🔥🔥
34, right there with ya
Me too 33

37 still unmarried. But this song keeps me young. ❤
Grew up. Went to war. Came home. Married. Divorced. Had a kid. After all that. I still love this song.
Josh Ball thanks for the service brother 👊
Thanks for the service.
Thank you very much for your service to this nation. It means a lot. God bless you brother.

If I only knew how valuable this era was, I’d savor every moment while I was there.
Oh I know it.
You never see the best years of your life until they're gone
You'd swallow every inch of this city
You haven't savor it? Well, what if I tell you that NOW is also pretty good time and you will remember it when you get old and sick. Seize the day.

This song reminds me of prom, girlfriends I forgot I had, AIM, dial-up internet, and a life I miss; one that I can't manage to find again.
Haha this is funny but so true! If we could only travel time...
lol i read "porn" instead of prom
No matter how hard we try...
Woah deep. Me too bro.
agreed wish it was 2003 again

Woke up this morning in 2021 with these lyrics stuck in my head.
This is the anthem of my day now.
Just seen this live for the first time a couple weeks ago at Reverb and they absolutely killed it. My favorite set of the night
Who came here because they heard this song 10 years ago and wanted to fucking hear it again?
AND NOT BECAUSE OF SOME VLOG!!!!!!!!
+Tom Jones YES
👈👏👏👏👏

Waltz I remember back when you used to be made fun of and called 'emo' for liking this song.

2021?
Me and my girlfriend had our kid the year this came out. while we were still in college. We were barely out of our teens, now our daughter is going off to college, only 2 years younger than we were at the time. I remember walking by her room and hearing this, along with other Screamo rock, I was taken aback.
2022 and still got the chills everytime I listen to this song🤘
This is so good 🤘 but you must hear “Whispering Wolf” by SLT 🎸🎶 🎧🐺🔥

I forgot about this song until it randomly showed up in my "recommended videos list". Man I can still sing every word of it.
My high school playlist 🥲 time flies huh.. Hey you, stay strong 👊
This Song Tho.
Just brings back memories,Will never get old 💯
2022 anyone?
This is so good 🤘 but you must hear “Whispering Wolf” by SLT 🎸🎶 🎧🐺🔥
one of my favorite albums of all time. So ready for their new one :D
This is still my JAM!!!! Aww... My days of youth! 😍
Same here!
We are never former emo. Lol it's forever a part of us 😀
kinda irrelevant but im 17 now and im emo, i always was but them i cut my hair everything and i never let the music taste go, im letting my hair grow again finally haha. i probably lost the best time to be emo but my i remember myself very young when my sis showed me this song when she was emo (she’s 27 now) and she still loves it both the songs and the style.
I never looked emo at any point but I've always liked the songs
2020 anyone? Can't let go of this good music.
2020 about to be 2021 and I still find myself coming back to this song Imagining how things got so shitty from when I heard this as a teenager... 🤘
I saw them on tour in July 2023. Dan’s vocals are still amazing! Just like how I remember
Take me back to when wearing etnies wide leg pants my independent shirts, world industries , spitfire etc and long hair man 04 was a good year
It was the best of times I wish I could go back.

Anyone else super stoked to live out high school years again with Taste of Chaos this year??

Either way its been a LOng time and alot of memories tied in!!
Omg yesssss I automatically thought of warped tour . The best I went to
DrivinHanyou What a fucking line up! Deftones, As I lay Dying, Silverstein and Thrice!? Damn it that was one for the books forsure! 😍😍😍🙌👌🔥
Saw them in kc with cake and weezer
I don't know who mixed/recorded this album but it was a technical masterpiece. If you've not listened on good headphones or a stereo you don't know what I'm talking about. It was just a surround sound like I've never heard before.
and that bass drop
JOHN FELDMANN

From first to last....
This song takes me back to 4th and 5th grades. I'm a senior in college now. Where has the last 11 years gone?!?!?!?
This was my favorite song when I was a teenager now that I'm an adult listening to this again brought back so much memories..the message of this song seems deeper to now than when I was younger.
I remember sitting watching MTV every night back in junior high just to see if they'd play this video.
woah .. memories haha
Page Avenue is one of the most underrated rock albums of all time. Tell me I'm wrong.
The most underrated band in the history of rock music.. they put out meaningful hits alot but it seems they dont get recognised enough.. been a fan for more than 18 years now.. ❤
If you are here because you miss this song, don't worry, we miss it too. Let's listen together my friend. 🤝🍻
It's pre-2025 who's still going to listen to this in 2025 until the day they die?

Man.. Brought me back to the dark and wild teenage years. Reminiscing the old times can be such a torture and beautiful at the same time. Nearly two decades later, this song still has the same effect on me..!
