      He has only been to the cabin 2 other times in a year. Once to remove snow from the roof to prevent it from calapsing and the other time before this to look at it and wonder why he owns a cabin he doesn't use.
      He would have to spend more than an afternoon there to do a renovation series. It would be one 20 minute video at best.

      @@scottdunlop7442 take out all the cut scenes, sounds and extra footage and you got yourself a boring ass video that 75% of ppl will click off of in the first 2min. Gotta have that comedy relief and the editor is great at it. There is also a time and place for it. A serious or sensitive video like the recovery of the side by side of course isn't going to be full off goofy stuff and once again the editing team does a great job at getting the right shot and sound to convey that emotion.

    If you're changing doors, take the opportunity to beef up your door headers too. It'll help the cabin survive heavier than normal snow loads. Door cutouts can be a weak point.

      Why don't you beef up the frame work of your home
      by using steel posts & beams
      like you would in a car (cage)
      so if another storm hits it
      should be ok , as for the fire
      wood use it at home or work

    • @forgottenfixers
      @forgottenfixers 11 місяців тому +2

      @@charlesallanstewart-kl2op The header spans between door framing and is easy to change when the jambs are removed. Most older buildings use 2x4s. Our older building had 2x4 headers turned the wrong way. We upgraded every door with 2x6 headers. With increased snow loads a 2x6 or 2x8 header is a fairly inexpensive and relatively easy upgrade that can make the door openings much more rigid and help prevent the doors from buckling. If the doors buckled this winter, its possible they'll fail next winter.

Maybe his plans for the replacement are different enough and the economics of trying to reuse any of this didn't stack up. Did seem a lot of decent timber to chop up though - prices have pretty much doubled on wood here in the UK vs pre covid and they're not going to go back down..

    Before you close it up for winter this year put a rescue pole at various windows and doors. Then you will know exactly where to dig and how deep it really is. Love the channel. Keep up the great work. Thanks for turning me on Jax Allen!! Awesome family

    Just last week was thinking about your cabin and wondering how it fared. Glad to see it wasn't too bad. Hopefully this year won't make it worse.

    Always make sure to protect your ears, cause it's easier to hear your way thru life than see. Maybe safety glasses or some goggles boys.

    it’s crazy that Utah of all places got that much snow, wouldn’t think the desert could be that bad we never even get snow in Arkansas 😂💀

      Northern Utah doesn't fall in the same category as the lower half that is "high desert". Utah is known for its snow quality.

    Love to see the refurbish of the cabin. That area looks like up on top of Farmington canyon area. I used to hunt up there and always thought those cabins up there were awesome. Keep it real Dave. From Alaska’s big iceman!
