    I'm filling Maker's Magic. It's a flexible, paintable, clear, craft glue and sealer that my company Scorch Marker invented. We launched it 8 months ago and we are still in the beginning stages. I am still curious about the craft glue and sealer. How is that different from glue at Homedepot or Lowe's? I have used silicon glue before. I would like to get a new strong glue for outdoors.
      Regarding the equipment, I have used them all at work years ago. All of them. from beginning to packaging. I did not see the Lot # printing under the canisters/plastic jars. Every single step you have done, I did it with those machines and fancier ones. It is exciting, it must be more exciting if this whole operations is YOURS. After working doing this, you ask yourself, am I going to fill bottles for the rest of my life? It was a good run for me, but now I switched to my childhood talent. Watercolor and selling images and designs online on platforms. Print on demand. Great video for the youth 18 yr and on, they could successfully run their own business. Filling CBD into jars is so profitable right now. I have done that too. Good luck. Love your nation, love your women, conquer and prosper.

    As a small business owner, I'm so happy for your family. My husband created a product in our basement and on Christmas Eve 2017, we sold our first unit. In October of 2019, he quit his corporate job and we were able to work side-by-side (I'm a SAHM) until February 2023 (business was too slow, so he had to go back to corporate world). Business is still slow, but he's back home and we're trying to relaunch our business to bring in new gamers. Your video randomly popped up... and knowing your product (I'm a crafter!), it warmed my heart to know you two started the same way! A smile spread across my face when I saw your little one working with you two. What a gift!!! I wish you two so much success!!! - Denise

    Great to see another "mfg. in the garage startup". My wife and I did the same 25 years ago making a tablesaw safety tool, the Grip-Tite magnetic feather board. I set up shop in the garage to test the market, and were overwhelmed with success, making more money at a weekend trade show than I had in the previous 6 months. The garage soon had 4 of us pumping out tools in an assembly line- much more complicated than your process (woodworking involved). In a year we had moved on to a large shop with real machinery and 10 employees.
    I must say that marketing something is just as important (or more) than producing. We were lucky to find the "Woodworking Shows" (thank you Jerry Cole) where I could demonstrate and sell the Grip-Tite for over 25 years, and retire early .

    You did the best thing you could ever do... Starting you glue business in your garage and doing it yourself. Now you know your product inside and out.. If something goes wrong with your co-packer, you have the knowledge of being able to do this yourself, o you will be able to supply your customers and not lose any accounts. I have seen people go straight to a co-packer without knowing their products etc, and their co-packer goes under, or decides not to make their product and now, the people have lost all their sales, and customers etc. Keep up the good work! Love it!

      There is no "perfect growth method" but honestly you're kind of already doing something by interacting with videos like this and social media posts of creators in your niche. This associates your account with other accounts in the niche and increases your chances of your content being shown to people who will like your brand and products.
      If you made more social media posts focusing on the crafting/diy niche while interacting with accounts, you can train the algorithms to show you to the right people and increase your conversion. Instagram likes posts daily or almost daily, UA-cam likes weekly uploads. I tell my marketing clients to make 20-30 social media interactions a day on specific creators in the niche per platform (some big, some medium, some small). This could be liking a post, commenting, etc. Like, if I were to break it down, in a month the full marketing load would be producing 4 UA-cam videos and 20 Instagram posts a month (Carousels that tell a story do the best, then reels, then single image posts), with the intention of directing viewers to your Esty shop, or something like a free e-book download where you can capture their email and use email marketing to encourage the sale (I think you can also just do that with Etys' tools)
      When it comes to etsy, I find their SEO is really easy to game. Just find your top competitors selling similar items on the top of related search terms, read their description and try and think about the specific keywords they might be targeting in search, and write your descriptions to include those same keywords. I've gotten a few listings on the front page of relatively hot search terms by doing this. Just don't copy/paste it, try and reverse engineer the keyword research they already did.
      Good luck, and because youtube is dumb, you'll probably never see this comment.

    Any advice for someone seeking a small-business loan?
    I live in a small town and am starting a thrift store. I am already registered and all my docs are intact. The next step, I think, would be to apply for a small-business loan and start looking for a cheap(ish) storefront here in town. For now, I will be renting the local community hall monthly for a "pop-up shop" type of thing, until I can figure out a permanent store location. Just thought that anyone here who has gone through this process might have some words of wisdom! Anything you would have done differently? Anything I should be weary of? Really any advice about small-business loans would be cool! A friend suggested I hire a financial attorney that specializes on helping entrepreneurs get a secure loan for their project.

      Your fried. Is right. Banks etc generally won't loan you start up money unless you can show you have vested interest in it. Meaning, how much money are you bringing to the table for this new company. Any that will give you a loan will be high interest rates and personally guaranteed against an asset like your house if you have substantial equity. If you are a renter, this will be an even harder uphill battle.

      Most people either do not understand the power of compound interest, or are just impatient. For the average Joe, however. I think it is just best to invest in the S&P 500, and just wait, which is reliable, albeit extremely long-lots of years. Or just use a professional analyst and speed up wealth creation. Most people underestimate the power of the latter

    This is awesome - way to go! Good to see someone that comes across as humble and grateful winning. I have been working in manufacturing as an engineer, then manager, director, etc... for over 30 years now and at the moment. Back in 2019 I thought of going out on my own to consult, started building a few relationships and opportunities and finally pulled the trigger - about 5 months before KO-Vid hit!!! I got wiped out! No work, no sales, no place to get hired cause no one was even open... it sucked.
    So now I am back in the grind and there is no end in sight so I have been thinking of doing something, CNC milling, design a product, something. I have been researching lately for good ideas, opportunities, etc... I do not do too much on line stuff other than watch videos, I do not have social medias other than YT, etc... that stuff makes me a bit uncomfortable. Anyway I am hoping to do something and you probably know the saying "luck favors the prepared". I am very glad to have found your channel.

    I've been self employed for a decade plus, and am currently making a product for almost 4 years now, and it is almost %100 (I have the stickers made for me) made by hand, by me alone. I would love to be able to make more units to keep up with demand, but I'm handicapped by my inability to accept outside help, mainly because I feel no one can meet my strict guidelines for quality and detail. I wish I could find a reliable source to at least make some of my parts, to spec, and then I could build more units. You have a simple product with a great production setup, which is every entrepreneurs dream. Great job!

The end of your video, I could see you being onto something where in this channel becomes of support for Small Business, fabrication and packaging, technology and processes . Want to cover the business side with taxes and liability in those kinds of things. And then, of course, the manufacturing aspect, Warren may be others that have different types of products that are produced could share their processes all the while, not revealing their secret sauce, that invites unscrupulous copycats .

    A good idea is labeling before you pour the product(Unless labeler is putting date on.) This will make it your "Mise en place", everything is ready before you produce. Lets you be more prepared if a big order comes in. There is also gains to be had when doing the same thing over and over. When you are real good, you can watch a movie while producing :)

    • @mtbsam68
      @mtbsam68 10 місяців тому

      The order shouldn't matter, because this should be done in as close to one piece flow as possible. Batching the bottles in advance would not be a good idea at all. It seems counter intuitive sometimes but a study of lean manufacturing will nearly always end up with this conclusion.
      Also, depending on the pressure applied by the label applicator, a full/sealed bottle may work better to remain closer to rigid, but that is just a guess.

      @runejensen3978 10 місяців тому

      Yeah that makes sense. I am thinking from a muscle memory perspective. Like doing 1 thing, many times vs many things 1 time

Well done sir!! I started in my garage a dozen years ago. It took a year to outgrow my garage manufacturing facility of home built machinery. We're now in a million dollar facility we built about three years ago. Through all the ups and downs three things remain- determination, joy and a commitment to figuring it out and getting it done. I just subscribed and I'm looking forward to following your journey. Thanks for choosing to inspire!

    I would keep it small and simple. My dad worked from home for over 30 years and was happy to pay his bills and not need to work for a boss. I know a lot of people want to be millionaires, but the bigger you are the harder you fall when things go wrong. Good luck.

    My portfolio doesn’t just cater to dividend stocks. I hold $VFIAX (S&P 500 index fund) in my Roth IRA and $VTI (Total Stock Market ETF) in my taxable brokerage account. Two of my largest holdings. The individual dividend stock positions all complement the index holdings.

      I took charge of my portfolio but faced losses in 2022. Realizing the need for a change, I sought advice from a fiduciary advisor. Through restructuring and diversification with dividend stocks, ETFs, Mutual funds, and REITs, my $1.2M portfolio surged, yielding an annualized gain of 28%.

      There are a handful of experts in the field. I've experimented with a few over the past years, but I've stuck with ‘’Aileen Gertrude Tippy’’ for about five years now, and her performance has been consistently impressive. She’s quite known in her field, look-her up.

    You lnow, at the end there, I was expecting an ad for mental health.
    This is the first time ive been touched by a message like that, and its highlighted that as a maker i am lonely.
    I currently have a full time WFH job, but none of my team interact with each other, and on tip of the job, i have a 18m daughter and another along the way.
    My wife is great, and very supportive of what i do, but from a maker perspective, shes a coders rubber ducky.
    Other makers im aware of are hoobyists, or have a tiny business that they do just for fun, and i know of no others who want to grow one to support their family.
    Its hard man

      I think the safest strategy is to diversify investments. But if you need proper advice, consider speaking with a financial expertise. Don't get me wrong, you can do it on your own, but financial advisors have a lot more knowledge and expertise in this area.

    this might be what I need to dispense my SMD Sunflash resin. Can it pump resin? Or do you think that would be too thick? I get it in 55 gallon drums and need a better solution than the one I am using which is much slower. Thanks!

      @meade916 the viscosity should be fine with this style of pump. I would be more concerned about the Sunflash resin attacking the o-rings or seals in the pump. Just make sure they use Fluorocarbon FKM & Viton® O-Rings or equivalent.
