I think Ennis is just someone who thrives off pure mindless edgy, swearing, gory slop and I love how the show steered faaaar from it, doing it more "tastefully", which is an odd word to use but still 😅
I think the best quote of the ending is from Stillwell, the comic CEO, who is always calm and optimistic and saves the superhero image. He is standing alone before a window and suddenly he shows an emotion (for the first time) hits his hand against his head and says: "It's a shit product."
For anyone wondering how the hell butcher survived a point blank grenade blast, he had been on compound V for a long time in the comic series. It was how he survived many normally fatal wounds.
I think most likely Butcher will be the only one who dies at the end. MM, Frenchie and kimiko dying doesnt feel like it would make any narrative sense besides shock value.
@@fakerhex one of them is going to die, I’d bet on it. Man I loved this series so much when I was like 17 and HOOOOLY fuck does it not hold up as an adult lmao. Same with preacher at times. But then again that's the target demographic so you cant blame it. I'm happy the show decided to be a bit more mature
Oh no, Homelander is a self-serving bastard and a psychopath. Butcher is a psychopath as well, but he's much more goal-oriented and less of a general asshole. He focuses his anger and sadistic, murderous tendencies towards an apparent evil, namely the corrupt and incompetent superheroes that ruin the lives of so many people and stole the semblance of normality, happiness and peace he had with his wife. To that end, he largely ignores wider society and focuses on dealing with superheroes. The exception to this is when he begins to murder the rest of his team, but that's more or less based off of his personal perception of what it takes to be his enemy.
In the comics he had powers, he even forced them on Hugh, that isn't the difference between them, the real difference is HL was made to be a hero but it drove him crazy, Butcher was forced to kill heros and it drove him crazy
I'm just gonna say, how tf did hughie pierce his leg on a curved spike? All the other fence spikes are bent so it couldn't have been from the fall. That's some fucking noclip shit right there

Homelander and butcher working together after soliderboy hit ryan. Who wouldve ever thought. Slowly but surely theyre building to butcher becomming the big bad endgame threat
I disagree. Season 3 proved that he’s an actual character with depth that cares for the people around him as opposed to the sadistic murderer in the comics, so he’ll have a heroic end imo
Watch again, Hughie is gonna be the twist final antagonist, after he injects V how his personally literally shifted. Idk how people are not watching the most obvious changes and noticing the seeds being planted, we know they are not copying the comics like the black noire twist and and specially the ending which the author says himself in all conventions that he only did that ending so nobody can pick up his franchise and take over. The show is going to change who the core antagonists are. Homelander has always been the central but not the final antagonist.
Wow. He turned into an epic villain. This is what happens when the only way you know how to be a “good guy” is to have a “bad guy” to fight. When you have no one left to fight you start looking for enemies where you once had friends. You become evil.
The show took a different approach and I've seen arguments been made tht its because the writers are librals and wanted to use butcher to show wht toxic masculinity is. Season 2 and 3 are good examples of tht as we see butcher resemble his dad more who was violent and mistreated his sons. We also learned about how it lead to his brothers death and how his toxicness doesn't allow him to let Ryan come with for being a supe initially
What? Who cares the boys are fucking dead your basically saying is that it doesn’t matter that the main characters died because Hughie and starlight are together even tho Hughie just lost more people he Holded deeply In his heart
Boys is one of the rare occasions I am glad they didn't stick to original source. This way we can also enjoy a different approach to the series. I read a few chapters and ironically, comic Butcher seemed a nicer person than show counterpart. Like, he took Hughie to eat a burger instead of punching in the face, he found Hughie and explained what he does and made Hughie laugh (who was still depressed over Robin) and invited him to US, and later told Hughie that actually M.M. keep the gang together etc.
I feel like Butcher couldn’t bring himself to kill Huey because Huey is too much like his brother Lenny who died. So, Butcher had to trick him to help end his own suffering.
The ending in the comic made a lot of sense to me. There was no going back and at least Hughie survived. But that panel of Hughie's leg being impaled at the end will always make me laugh!!!!
Hmm, maybe in the show Billy success killing Homelander and become the thing he hates, being a full supe villain and every supe actually had to stop him including his teammates and when that is unsuccess, we jump to the future and Ryan is the one who becomes good and stopped Billy when he ready
Honestly a great ending for the comic since the writer was so focused on showing how much he hated superheros that it got annoying but he realised that and for an ending he shows what happens to a person who only wants vengance and murder
i lowkey wanted all of this to happen in the show, turning him from one of the 'heroes' to being a full blown villain, it further hammers the point of Butcher being just as bad as the supes we already got a glimpse of that side of Butcher in S3E1, when he was talking to Homelander, how, while yes, he does want the eradication of supes, his true goal is much more than that, all he wants is for him and the thing he hated the most to be the last one standing, to wage war and destruction, for him to finally just let go and not having to hold back anymore, and all of this bc he's naturally a hateful person, smth that he may was not born with, but by now is already a part of him, remove the hatred in him and you won't have a Butcher anymore i personally think it just feels natural to Butcher's character progression
I agree, I thought this was a really compelling way to finish up the comics and wrap up Butcher's character arc. It was super intense and dramatic too, I loved it. I really hope they have this happen in the show, it's super important for the story's main theme and message
Honestly while I don’t think they end it like the comics something tells me Butcher isn’t going to I have a feeling he’s going out with a heroic sacrifice.
This is going to be rough to see if they adapt this in the show. Although if they pull it off it’ll make The Boys probably one of if not thee best superhero show ever. Too many shows are afraid to do jaw dropping shit like this, lets hope they film it like the comic.

The comics and TV show are extemely different
There's no guarentee the TV show will be anything like the comics after all the TV show takes some inspiration from the comics but is otherwise massively different
Black Noir is the biggest example of how different the TV show is from the comics
And Butcher is more humane in the TV show then the comics

He was expecting someone to stop him or he's going to continue to destroy everything now that there's nothing left fir him to live for. What a story.
There's something eerie about how self aware he was. Like, hes completely canny to the fact that he's lost control of himself but couldn't think of any other way forward.
That's the last twist in my opinion. He wasn't training Hughie to replace him, he needed someone who would have the balls to stand up to him if he ever went too far. Someone who knew all his tricks like no one else did

The comic and show are so different…and I’m happy for that. The comic is so extremely overboard.
@bastiat bro, the comic is ass. I’ve read it through and through
The show and comic are trash
@bastiat I read a few arcs and herogasm and I have to say it was terrible, this has nothing to do with someone being kiddy or liking justice league, the comic is just horribly written and packed with gore for shock value that doesn’t make you connect with the story itself. Get over yourself if you’re telling people to “go back” to something infinitely better than this lol
@@mantecastotch4260unpopular opinion. Everyone loves the show more than the shit comics 🤷♂️ no offense but you probably think attack on titan is the best show so.. you're opinion is irrelevant
The comic literally has Hughie get SA'd and the Boys laugh at him, the comic was just fueled by pure edge.
“WTF Billy” said everyone.
The show better not end like this.
For anyone wondering how the hell butcher survived a point blank grenade blast, he had been on compound V for a long time in the comic series. It was how he survived many normally fatal wounds.
He died even smiling.

Ahahah
Billy butcher: it's just a prank bro... Gottem
Haha pranked.
This ending seems much more probable after season 4. Hope they still don’t go this way though.
I think most likely Butcher will be the only one who dies at the end. MM, Frenchie and kimiko dying doesnt feel like it would make any narrative sense besides shock value.
@@fakerhex one of them is going to die,
I’d bet on it. It already doesn’t make narrative sense for them all to be alive given of the amount of near death experiences they’ve had with superhumans and who can rip them to shreds in an instant. The fact all of the boys are alive right now is just plot armor.

@@sebastiancalvey1226 dude, chill out commenting on everyone’s comments.. we get it, you’re a fan.
Yeah theyre both psychos and will do anything it takes to get what they want.
In the comics he had powers, he even forced them on Hugh, that isn't the difference between them, the real difference is HL was made to be a hero but it drove him crazy, Butcher was forced to kill heros and it drove him crazy
Dude became a more evil version of homelander

Oh its possible, search for the video of a mexican thief impaled on a curved spike, the beautiful thing about curved spikes is that you cannot remove yourself unless you totally destroy the are where you were impaled.
I thought maybe the entire spike is sharp and not just the point so he just slid right through but idk

I just realised,
Huey gets impaled on the spiky fence, but how could that happen? The spikes are facing DOWNWARDS, and he fell from ABOVE
Pretty much all the comic is this nonsensical
Fell at an odd angle and his interrupted momentum drove him into the spike. I've seen much worse in real life.
... well he was on the empire state building... idk how high the guy fell from but even if the spikes were facing down... if u fell like 10 stories on a fence don't matter which way the prongs are going... ur going right through it

It seems like they are going this route based on Butcher’s state in the end of season 3.
Homelander and butcher working together after soliderboy hit ryan. Who wouldve ever thought. Slowly but surely theyre building to butcher becomming the big bad endgame threat
Idk it seems like he wants redemption for what happened with his little brother

I'm glad they aren't goin this way in the show, Butcher seems like the type to sacrifice himself rather than kill milk and the others

Butcher just lives up to the name.
Damn that's one depressing ending
We really gotta give credit to Billy's explosives guy
I feel like Butcher couldn’t bring himself to kill Huey because Huey is too much like his brother Lenny who died. So, Butcher had to trick him to help end his own suffering.
I hope if they stick to this but Kimiko gets Frenchies last words. It would be amazing if the only thing she said during the series is I love you.
Billy be like: "we do a little trolling"
The ending in the comic made a lot of sense to me. There was no going back and at least Hughie survived.
But that panel of Hughie's leg being impaled at the end will always make me laugh!!!!
Hmm, maybe in the show Billy success killing Homelander and become the thing he hates, being a full supe villain and every supe actually had to stop him including his teammates and when that is unsuccess, we jump to the future and Ryan is the one who becomes good and stopped Billy when he ready
In the comics, the entire reason Butcher brought Hughie in was to stop him from going over the edge. Hughoe just realized it a bit too late.
Well i can tell you the show is definitely not doing this💀it would absolutely destory butchers character and leave so many people pissed
It took me until now to realise that it's an ai voiceover

Honestly a great ending for the comic since the writer was so focused on showing how much he hated superheros that it got annoying but he realised that and for an ending he shows what happens to a person who only wants vengance and murder
i lowkey wanted all of this to happen in the show, turning him from one of the 'heroes' to being a full blown villain, it further hammers the point of Butcher being just as bad as the supes
we already got a glimpse of that side of Butcher in S3E1, when he was talking to Homelander, how, while yes, he does want the eradication of supes, his true goal is much more than that, all he wants is for him and the thing he hated the most to be the last one standing, to wage war and destruction, for him to finally just let go and not having to hold back anymore, and all of this bc he's naturally a hateful person, smth that he may was not born with, but by now is already a part of him, remove the hatred in him and you won't have a Butcher anymore
i personally think it just feels natural to Butcher's character progression
I agree, I thought this was a really compelling way to finish up the comics and wrap up Butcher's character arc. It was super intense and dramatic too, I loved it. I really hope they have this happen in the show, it's super important for the story's main theme and message
This will make an epic ending for the Series altogether, as much as I don’t want to see it end, you can’t deny the exciting climax in the comics ❤
I feel like Billy will still die in the show but it'll be to Homelander in their last fight, which then leads to Ryan to killing Homelander
It’s more likely Ryan is gonna have to kill butcher when homelander’s dead
