Encountered this fault several times why no one could fix it before is puzzling not a hard one to diagnose really but I have found that if you leave the relay in but leave enough of a gap to gain access to the pins of the relay then ground the control pin it resets the SAM & the engine will start again, no new part needed strange but it worked every time & didn’t have a comeback. What no one failed to notice is that you left out struggling to remove the console lid release button trim & no doubt broke the plastic catches 😂 I don’t blame you if you did their a pig to get off.
Top video! Misschien een condensatortje of een diode die niet meer functioneert. Opzich vrij makkelijk te testen. Ik hoop dat de overige codes interessant genoeg zijn om te filmen ik ben benieuwd door hoeveel hoepeltjes je nog moet springen. Keep up the good work! 💪🏻
Great Video as usual, many love from Saudi Arabia, as an ITC Engineer I enjoyed proper troubleshooting, I hope next time you film the process to program the Module, thanks for this informative video.🌹

Excellent channel. - Thank you. - I’m retired street trolly tech. troubleshooting is valuable part fixing electrical problems. Not just throwing expensive parts at the vehicle and hopping for a fix. Often that will cause more trouble.
Always fun to watch your step by step eliminating problems, and logically working on. It also, every time, reminds me of why I drive with an eighities car myself!
Brilliant. Dan, I really enjoy your work, far above myself, I’m retired and brought up in a British Leyland dealership, now running a Volvo XC60 b4 diesel, if you have any problems on these cars please keep me informed.
When I get a notification from DiagnoseDan I know I'm in for a proper diagnosis video and this one continues that trend. I hear this phrase all the time in sports, "they make it look easy." That phrase perfectly describes your diags. Thanks for another great video.
Well done! This is how a diagnosis is supposed to be done. When mechanics just start replacing components and charge the customer that is a crime. Prove the trouble then charge the customer.
Not a chance of me ever managing to even find the ladder which you are on the top rung of .. brilliant / unbelievable . my hero ..you are the man .. etc etc .. you make it seem so darn easy and straightforward .
Brilliant Dan, I can’t remember how many “dashboards eye distorted as an apprentice in a Ford Dealership ! But all was well after applying a few “ rolls of electrical tape. Living on the edge, I went on to “ run an enormous Oil Refinery in the New Forrest”, with no issues hopefully .
Hi Dan, love your videos. Can you expound on whether you should have the car's AC off when starting it? I've been told to do that by the AC specialty shop, but years ago I was told that since the start circuit doesn't energize the clutch, I don't need to have it off, it won't turn on the compressor until the key is in the run position. Now that I live in Florida, the AC life is very short. 5 compressors blown up in the last 15 years in 4 cars.
In Florida the AC has to work a lot harder than where i'm from indeed😂 On modern cars it doesn't matter. The AC button is no longer a on/off button and the AC is computer controlled and it only switches on or off when it meets alot of parameters.
Great diagnostic's again is that module really needed to be incorporated with the starting system, it only makes cars less reliable giving any car brand a bad name for themselves
The master at work again. When i get a notification that diagnose Dan, bernie Thomson, ivan from pine hollow put a video up im like a kid in a sweet shop. Another fantastic video. Look forward to the next one!

nice diag, I had the same type of issue on my 2016 GLC 300 except that ground wire for mine was actually corroded and lost connection and didn’t actuate the relay from the front SAM.
Excellent video Dan, with knowledge of Ohm's and the right equipment you have solved so many problems. Look forward to seeing you again fix another car.
Nice fix Most likely problem is one of the surface mount devices is faulty. They can be repaired, but special fine tip soldering iron is required, & use of an oscilloscope.
Very clear and logical down sizing of the problem. Thanks As a electronic engineer myself, I’ve noticed that if spare parts are obsolete, mainly due to often breakdown, especially in a normal lifetime of a piece of equipment, it is replaced by an upgrade, better quality part. There is also the new number coming from 😉. That could also being an indication that you’re on the right track. Thanks for taking me along… 🙏🏻
Gonna say the statement, "It has been to 'other' shops", yeah, that's a load of horse poop. Great fix, but, super simple with the correct diagrams which you should think the "other" shops should have had. Always a pleasure Dan 👍
Great bit of diagnosing there Dan! I think possibly a mosfet in one of the ICUs must have gone bad so that wire would never get connected to earth. Just about impossible to fix, so you did right buying a new one.
I suspect the same, and its proberbly fixable but these modules have some known issues ( this is not one of them as far as i know) and the new partnumber should be better. And it was quite affordable

As you've seen in the video i grounded the wire but no reset🤣 I had no trouble removing that button, and it didn't break, maybe i was lucky
fantastic work Dan, as expected .
Thanks as always!
Excellent ! I'm very pleased we were there to help you, I know I couldn't of done that on my own! You are a clever methodical man.
Thanks for your help😉
My pleasure
Greetings from Romania !!!
Me to
Great stuff again Dan, really easy to watch and learn, I've been a commercial technician for 30 years and after watching your videos I'm venturing into the car industry for a new challenge. Thank you again 👍
It's a no crank no wash
🤣🤣
Great job Dan!! Thank you for sharing the video!!
My pleasure
You might fix it, but in the end it's still a Mercedes :P
😁👍
Excellent channel. - Thank you. - I’m retired street trolly tech. troubleshooting is valuable part fixing electrical problems. Not just throwing expensive parts at the vehicle and hopping for a fix. Often that will cause more trouble.
Thanks for watching!
Looks like you are on the hook with this car ! First hurdle overcome now she starts and runs . Good luck with the rest.
Thanks I'm going to need it! 😂
Always fun to watch your step by step eliminating problems, and logically working on.
It also, every time, reminds me of why I drive with an eighities car myself!
🤣🤣👍
Brilliant. Dan, I really enjoy your work, far above myself, I’m retired and brought up in a British Leyland dealership, now running a Volvo XC60 b4 diesel, if you have any problems on these cars please keep me informed.
Thanks Robert👍
When I get a notification from DiagnoseDan I know I'm in for a proper diagnosis video and this one continues that trend. I hear this phrase all the time in sports, "they make it look easy." That phrase perfectly describes your diags. Thanks for another great video.
Its not always easy 🤣
I know you can't always reply, but I really appreciate it when you do. Thank you.
@@vm9684i try to reply to every comment in the first few days after a video is released
He should have left his car with you guys to get it fixed his loss. A very interesting video Dan very much enjoyed you fixing this one. 😁😁👍👍
Thats fantastic to hear
Well done! This is how a diagnosis is supposed to be done. When mechanics just start replacing components and charge the customer that is a crime. Prove the trouble then charge the customer.
Not a chance of me ever managing to even find the ladder which you are on the top rung of .. brilliant / unbelievable . my hero ..you are the man .. etc etc .. you make it seem so darn easy and straightforward .
this guy needs his own tv channel !!!! congrats Dan
🤣🤣👍
@@Diagnosedan Thank you, Dan. Glad to finally have a definitive answer.
Great diagnostic's again is that module really needed to be incorporated with the starting system, it only makes cars less reliable giving any car brand a bad name for themselves
I dont know why they choose to do it like this but i'm sure they have their reasons
The master at work again. When i get a notification that diagnose Dan, bernie Thomson, ivan from pine hollow put a video up im like a kid in a sweet shop. Another fantastic video. Look forward to the next one!
See you for the next one👍
You really are the only one who teaches us the proper way to diagnose and solve any problem , sharing not only your experience but also your mindset . Thank you
Thanks for the great comment sir
nice diag, I had the same type of issue on my 2016 GLC 300 except that ground wire for mine was actually corroded and lost connection and didn’t actuate the relay from the front SAM.
Great find💪
I can't stop watching your videos. High-quality content is provided every single time.
Wow. You made my day
Thanks Dan, enjoyed the journey with you, you deserve a raise.
For sure😂😂😂
Excellent video Dan, with knowledge of Ohm's and the right equipment you have solved so many problems.
Look forward to seeing you again fix another car.
I rarely thumbs up or subscribe to anything but being an ex mechanic I really enjoyed your detailed diagnosis.
Top Work Dan. Subscribed 👍
All of your diagnostics are like forensic detective stories, fantastic.
Fantastic job Dan, no Bloopers well done my friend not only fixed the car but did a good job of it.
Thanks!
Nice fix Most likely problem is one of the surface mount devices is faulty. They can be repaired, but special fine tip soldering iron is required, & use of an oscilloscope.
Everything can be repaired 😊
Great job Dan, as usual! Thanks for sharing, regards Nico.
Bedankt weer Nico
Very clear and logical down sizing of the problem. Thanks
As a electronic engineer myself, I’ve noticed that if spare parts are obsolete, mainly due to often breakdown, especially in a normal lifetime of a piece of equipment, it is replaced by an upgrade, better quality part.
There is also the new number coming from 😉.
That could also being an indication that you’re on the right track.
Thanks for taking me along… 🙏🏻
My pleasure 😊😊
Hello from Northern Ireland !! 👍🇬🇧
I thoroughly enjoyed your diagnostics of that Mercedes!!
Thank you for sharing.
I eagerly await your next video 👍👍👍
Thanks! See you for the next one
Gonna say the statement, "It has been to 'other' shops", yeah, that's a load of horse poop.
Great fix, but, super simple with the correct diagrams which you should think the "other" shops should have had.
Always a pleasure Dan 👍
Thanks for watching
As usual, Dan "hits" again and makes the car start again. Keep up the good work Dan
Thanks! I will or at least i'll try🤣🤣
