Snowblind is a classic from Vol. 4 and theres a great high quality video of Black Sabbath playing Snowblind live in 1978. One of my favorite performances by anyone ever easily.
I would say first 6. ”Sabotage” is an awesome album. 7th album ”Technical Ecstasy” isn’t bad either. The only BS albums I really don’t listen are ”Seventh Star”, ”Eternal Idol” and ”Forbidden”.

Wheels Of Confusion and Under The Sun are two tracks that had a massive influence on subsequent heavy bands. Snowblind HAS to be listened to. It just has.
under the sun is a another great song from vol 4. The guitar riff is super heavy for the time. Hole in the sky from another album of theirs is definitely worth checking out also
One of the most powerful riffs ever. And hugely accentuated by the beginning - all you hear is that quiet, tappity-tappity of the high hat and then BOOM Tony Iommi just rips your head off. I read through some comments, I didn't see anyone mention Tomorrow's Dream, another really good one on Volume IV.
From the album that signaled the beginning of the end for Sabbath's classic line-up, 'Supernaut' opens with an unforgettable riff then continues like a runaway train, the coke fueled lyrics loaded with impossible self-belief and Iommi's trill laden solo contributing to the feeling of someone careering out of control. A favourite of Frank Zappa's and John Bonham's, 'Supernaut' is Sabbath at their best.
Wow, I have so forgotten about this song. Probably haven't heard it in 30 years. I was just scrolling back through the old videos to see if there was any I may have missed . Cool, see how this can sometimes work both ways. Thanks, Gents. Cheers!
If you guys were born 40 years earlier we would definitely hang out, ha. Black Sabbath's Wheels of confusion and Snowblind are a must. Keep on rocking dudes!!
Kudos. This was a great choice and even better, an unexpected choice. Sabbath fans know which songs jam, and this one does. The songs that jam are always the best. Good pace, strong rhythm section and good musicianship. Iommi, Butler and Ward could jam with the best of them. Good job finding this hidden classic. Keep the gravy train going.
You really should do more of this album, as mentioned before 'wheels of confusion' is a must, snowblind, and my personal favourite and criminally underrated and one you must do 'under the sun', it is such a great, heavy, haunting song, with arguably the best Iommi riff of them all as outro.

Cornucopia is a really overlooked song, the lyrics are really deep and complex in a way that Sabbath lyrics often weren’t.

First time I heard Sabbath was at a wedding reception when I was 6 ish . My dirtbag uncle booked the the cheapest place he could get for his brothes (My other uncle) wedding reception. Which happened to be a room in the back of a biker bar. Bar and reception room shared a hallway where restroom was located. To access restroom you walked thru two closed doors into hallway. Hallwayway was open to bar area with sign that said NO MINORS BEYOND THIS POINT. during a trip to restroom I heard this UNGODLY NOISE. I was mesmerized. Suddenly, one biker yelled over to me. "Hey kid! Your not allowed in here! As he walk over. I was shitting my pants. He looks down at me and asked. "What do want?" I apologized. Told him I liked the music. I wasn't trying to come in. He looked at me surprised and said "REALLY??? YOU like THIS?" I said Yes and asked the name of the band. He told me Black Sabbath. Without a word grabbed the nearest stool, put it in the hallway, Said, "Sit here. Cross this line and I send you back!". That whole memory is like it happened yesterday.
Tomorrow's Dream is a great jam (they used to open with that song in this era) -- in fact everything from the first 4 albums is complete and utter gold! This album is unique in that every song is good. From 1970-78 everything is pretty good. I even like Technical Ecstasy. The BEASTIES Boys take a lot from Sabbath.
They put the heavy in metal. You have to consider the times. Today this is just hard rock but in the 60s/70s this was out there. So, to put in in perspective, you would listen to all this crazy "love the world" shit on the radio all day and go home and listen to Sabbath on the turntable because NO station was playing them.
the great thing about Sabbath is their tempo changes especially in their longer songs. they'll take you down a hole then they'll claw their way back up to the original riff. Supernaut is their best tune just bc of the riff.
