    I have watched SEVERAL tutorials on how to make biased tape, such a simple task right? WRONG! I've done it so many times and got it wrong every time. This tutorial was the most clear, most perfect demonstration I've ever seen! When I make my next batch, I'm using this tutorial, and I know I'll finally get it right!!!!

      I was just getting ready to say the exact same thing. This tutorial is by far the best out there. The first time I made continuous bias tape I did it all wrong. I put both ends together as opposed to moving over that inch to begin sewing. This tutorial gets up close and shows us exactly where to begin sewing. Two thumbs up from me.

    I have always loved vests, aka “sleeveless jackets”. They are so useful, not only for fashion and art, but especially for camouflage and a source of pockets, and can be worn with a sleeveless top underneath in summer. Great new info on how to finish the armholes neatly with bias seam binding. Thank you so much. My favourites are reversible vests (and reversible jackets). Blessings! from Canada 🇨🇦

    OMG -- I never would have thought of flipping the bias tape making over and pressing it from the right side! That makes so much sense! Brilliant. Also, I've yet to meet a vest I don't love, but this one is SO CHIC! Someone needs to have a dinner party and invite you already. 😉

    First, I love, love the vest although it’s not for me-who wants to see my belly through the vee? Second, this method for cutting the continuous bias tape is pure magic. As a quilter, I have made bias binding from a square of fabric, but only to the point of cutting the strips. I would then have to seam the several strips together-not anymore! And third, turning over the bias tape maker is another fantastic tip. I really enjoy your videos and hope you are doing well.

    The stretching thing would definitely solve the problem I have where the 25mm/2" causes the fabric to overlap in the middle. I'll have to give this a shot. I agree the assembly is a little awkward with this method, but worth it! I finally made a little paper model to remind me how it goes together.

    As someone who mostly quilt I don't use bias binding, unless I'm making a round quilt like a tree skirt I just made. Anyway, bias cut or not I always use The Ultimate Binding Tutorial by Jenny from Missouri Star Quilt co (YT video) to sew the two endings together on the bias. Impossible to see where the two ends came together

    Such a great video! I never thought about marking in the stitch lines when doing continuous bias but it definitely made the matching up part look a lot easier than when I eyeball it! Also, what ruler do you use? I like the stopper thing at the end that seems to line up with your table. My ruler has lost a lot of the fine lines and it’s time for a replacement!

I like to use fold over elastic on my knits. So fun! Thank you for showing the ease in making this binding. When you wear a very well finished garment outside and inside, you feel great wearing it. Cut those dog ears! Sorry, quilter here.🪡☕️🧵👗❤😊 I am so glad I bought the Vito pattern. I have so much linen and I will add this pattern hack to my stack of lovely to do’s. Thank you so much.

  • @bethmckenna8314

    The results here confused me at first because I was waiting for you to enclose both sides of the raw edge with the bias tape (what can I say - I am a quilter 😂). It was only after re-watching several times that I realized that you are using the tape as facing - or at least I think I have that right?

  • @jessicawery3939
    @jessicawery3939 Місяць тому

    another great video! i am wondering why you choose to draw lines and cut strips, rather than just use your rotary cutter to cut strips, then join them with a sewing machine after you rotary cut them? I see so many sewists use the technique you used, but as a life-long quilter, I am stumped by this choice. Thanks again!

    • @PatternScout
      @PatternScout  Місяць тому

      Thanks! And I like this method because (even though it takes a little finessing to get it lined up at first) it is so much faster and easier for me to sew that one seam, rather than cut a bunch of individual strips and piece together. And it is more efficient to use a smaller square than cut a long bias strip through the center of my fabric, when sometimes I don't have a lot to work with. Really is up to personal preference though! :)

    • @denisedorsey2889
      @denisedorsey2889 Місяць тому

      I, too, prefer to cut strips individually and sew each seam. That’s mainly because I have too often messed up the continuous binding method!😜 For me, it’s just so much faster and I don’t end up with the ends having seams close together.
