I was intimidated by the thought of making bias binding ,but I thought I’ll watch this video and your video was a great help ,thank you so much for this video .
This was the clearest explanation on making bias binding ~ and the first time seeing the 45 degree angle demonstrated w/ paper as an alternative! Your tutorial methodology was the key that unlocked my understanding to this topic❣️Thank you so much.
I am a slow learner but seeing it done makes it easier for me to learn. Will try this method.. thanks for your help. This link was forwarded to me by a quilter friend.
I have been watching 17 videos full of overly complicated techniques and this was the easiest, most common sense way. It was not only helpful, but comforting and encouraging - the first video where I thought oh, this makes sense and I can do this.
Thank you, Laura, for making our sewing life easier. This is a very helpful tutorial and I appreciated your last comment about having everything ready when you start your quilt, I had never thought about it, but have noticed in your videos how you prepare everything before you begin to sew, makes finishing that much more enjoyable!
Absolutely wonderful and so easy to understand! I made my bias binding this morning for my new Christmas tree skirt! It turned out perfectly thanks to this awesome tutorial! Thank you!!!
Thank you for another very informative video! I hadn’t made bias binding in several years so this video has inspired me to use it again. I almost always learn something new from you. You’re terrific!
THANK YOU! I’m making the June Tailor quilt as you go tree skirt and hadn’t a clue how to make the binding. This tutorial is spot on! Concise and easy to follow instructions! You’re a gem!💞
Laura, do you think this is a easier method than making continuous binding which involves less sewing of fiddly bit? Is it less wasteful? You are a superb instructor, clear and slow. Excellent. As a Brit I like your accent, I’m put off by lots of American ladies high squeaky voice overs, and too enthusiastic presentations. Not their fault I know but I often skip their channels because of it. Not yours.
Ok that made a lot more sense... I thought you measured on the 45-degree line and then had to figure out how to cut it on that line. LOL.. Wow... learning something new every single day.
Thank you for a clear and simple demonstration. I needed the bias cutting method for using strips on projects other than large quilts and this was perfect. I'll be checking out your other videos, too.
THANK YOU SEW MUCH! I was just looking to purchase pretty Christmas bias binding and the prices!!!! So, I googled how to make easy bias binding and there you were!!!! Will make ALL my own pretty bindings from now on!!! HAPPY DANCE!!!! LOL
Hello Laura, as I've posted some of my projects I've learned from you..... yes again, you teach us, me well.... you make my happy place (my sewing room), more happy... thank you again for teaching us on a positive learning level... Jon
OMG! I have been TERRUFIED of making my own bias binding until seeing your video. Your tutorial was the BEST! and trust me I've seen a lot!! Your explanations are spot on! GREAT JOB!!
Thank you, Laura. I’ve watched your other videos and have learned so much as a beginning quilter. Getting ready to trim and put the binding on the second quilt I’ve ever made. You’re a natural and gifted teacher. Thanks for sharing your experience and knowledge.
After looking for the easiest way, you win! This is the easiest way and will be doing it today. Tried the one where you cut and sew and match up the lines, but so complicated. Thanks so much. Have a great day!
I stumbled upon your channel while looking at some sewing videos and I absolutely love you! One of my most favorite things about you, apart from your awesome and detailed directions, is the fact that you don’t waste time in the video with meaningless chatter. I can’t tell you how many videos I have skipped because they’re just rambling on instead of getting to the point. Thank you so much for making these videos! I’m a new sewer and they are going to be great for advancing my skills!
Thank you for a fantastic video on making bias binding from a rectangle. I usually make continuous binding from a square but this time I would have to cut two smaller squares resulting in short segments and many seams. This will work beautifully!
Your presentation was great. I am working on bias for pipping for deck cushions and really panicked when folding when the fabric was very very thick and raveling... I was going to do a yard at a time. Now I will do a half yard at a time. It will take longer but I feel it will be better to do. Thank you so much.
Thank You Laura For The Video ,I Bought Some Yesterday And It's Very Expensive For 1 and half yds It Was £3.20, I Will Try This Thank You As I Can Buy 5 Fat Quarters For £7.00
Hi Laura, I have never made bias binding. I watched your video twice before I started cutting. Your video was so simple I wonder why I never did this before! Thank you so much for taking time to show how it’s done and how simple it is!
Great video tutorial! I am new to quilting and this video on bias binding is so well done. I was able to make bias binding for my quilt project after a single viewing.
Wonderful and clear tutorial. I need bias trim for a toddler dress and most of the tutorials on YT are for yards and yards of binding for quilts. I love that with your method, I can start with a smaller piece of fabric and not end up with so much excess. Thank you!
Hello, Thank you for this easy tutorial, I’ve got a question though. Why can’t you sew the „wrong angles“ from left and right together ? Is it just taste or is the binding then not as good?
Yes, I have just watched several videos on biased tape making. I have sewn since age 11 and now 60. This is the absolutely best tutorial I have ever watched. Thank you for making a difficult process so very easy.
Hi, I love your tutorials, your explanations are very clear. Can you tell us why you recommend 2” binding here but your quilt binding video uses 21/4” binding please.
An excellent explanation, and I especially liked how you showed rolling it up on the ruler, so easy and no twisting of fabric. Lots of uses for that method. Thanks!
@sewveryeasy Thanks Laura. I was told that bias-binding is very difficult. Yet again - you made it EZ - as promised in your name! LOL - not even going to listen to any other teaching videos. So many comments here stated that after watching several, yours was best. I'll listen to their experience and use my time to begin cutting! Enjoy your day - L
Thank you so much for including us left handers. Most of the time, we have to figure out how to reverse any directions that are given. Very helpful to have it explained.
I love binding to neaten raw edges on just about anything - a book cover, a reusable shopping bag, a placemat. Even just to add a strip of colour. I practiced on small items whenever I could. Love your videos, I’ve learnt so much - my sewing mum!
Oh my gosh! Thank you so much for this video. All the others I watched were so hard for me to figure out. Love your channel. Always learn so much. Thanks
Thank you for demonstrating a way to be sure the angle you're using is 45 degrees. I have several rulers with all kinds of lines, but not one with the degree of each line given. I still don't know which line on my ruler is the 45 one, though. I keep looking for one that splits a corner but that's not how the lines look. Guess I need to get out my protracter.
Speaking of "correcting" the angles on the ends of your pieces when each end faces opposite directions, could you have the same effect on the fabric if you just moved one side to the other - matching the angles while keeping the strips straight, instead of having to cut anymore of the fabric off of each strip ? TY for answering.
Very helpful tutorial. Always been a little daunted at the thought of making my own binding - will now watch and follow instructions for my first attempt! Thank you for sharing.
That’s the first time that’s made sense to me. I have 3 quilt tops (2 are lap quilts) but scared to go any further....unsure of everything that comes next minus the batting.
Good idea thanks Laura. Can I use duvet covers for making the bias binding. Or is it going to be too thin and stretchy. Also where can I get a cutting mat like yours please.
hi i havent done any sewing for 20 odd years, obviously the pandemic has changed all that. now i need to make some bias binding, and my pattern calls for extra wide double fold bias binding, so how wide should i cut my strips please
All these years i've been a sewer i've never quite understood the 45 degree angle. (not being very at one with anything mathematical) but after seeing your tutorial all has become very clear thank you.
Great video! Question now. I use 2 1/2 " strips cut on the grain for binding quilts. Would it be better to make bias strips for quilt binding or it doesn't matter?
Finally!! A bias binding tutorial that is easy and chill! I can totally sew this by hand ✋! The "continuous bias binding" tutorials where stressing me out so much 😢 thank youuuu! ❤
I just got from amazon a bias tape kits of different sizes. Who needs to buy such a tiny amt and pay a lot for the kind in a store, plus they never have the right color or prints. The fat quarter amt is nice also to figure out inches 😺
I use a two inch wide metal yard stick to cut strips. More accurate than the folding methods on other videos and you don't have to slide it up or down to make those long cuts. One caveat though, check after every other cut to make sure that you are at a 45 degree angle.
I have been sewing for over fifty years and quilting for about five. I always learn something from your videos. I think you are the best instructor that I have seen. You are always clear and concise. Thank you for all that you do for us! I can't wait for your next video.
I've watched about 76 videos on making bias binding, and this is the only one that clicked for me. Your directions are excellent. Thanks so much!
Agreed. I turned two fat quarters into scraps watching another video. Thank you
Ditto! Finally one that was thoroughly explained.
Ikr plus I now have a ton of bias binding toys.😂😂😂😂
I was intimidated by the thought of making bias binding ,but I thought I’ll watch this video and your video was a great help ,thank you so much for this video .
I'm with you it wasn't clicking for me until I watched her video!!
❤
I've been quilting for over 35 years, and this is the best and clearest tutorial I've seen on making bias binding. Thanks!
Connie Beane I just watched that tutorial. It is good, but have you tried the continuous bias way, a lot less sewing and work.
I have been watching 17 videos full of overly complicated techniques and this was the easiest, most common sense way. It was not only helpful, but comforting and encouraging - the first video where I thought oh, this makes sense and I can do this.
This is the best tutorial on bias binding I have ever watched. Thanks so much Laura for making and modeling such wonderful instructions!
Sending Love ❤️...Sharon...Are you single? ❤️😊🌹🌹
What a great video !! I was unsure how to do the bias binding and now I feel very confident. Thank you so much !😁
Thank you, Laura, for making our sewing life easier. This is a very helpful tutorial and I appreciated your last comment about having everything ready when you start your quilt, I had never thought about it, but have noticed in your videos how you prepare everything before you begin to sew, makes finishing that much more enjoyable!
I just watched three tutorials on bias cutting, and by far yours is the best one I've watched. Thank you!!!
This is the best binding tutorial I have ever seen, you explain everything so well and in detail!
Absolutely wonderful and so easy to understand! I made my bias binding this morning for my new Christmas tree skirt! It turned out perfectly thanks to this awesome tutorial! Thank you!!!
I like this much better than the folding method! Great instructions! Thanks so much for sharing.
Thank you Laura for this tutorial and for addressing left handed directions also!😀😀😀
Thank you for another very informative video! I hadn’t made bias binding in several years so this video has inspired me to use it again. I almost always learn something new from you. You’re terrific!

Made my first bias binding and am now hand sewing it on because of your thorough explanations. Very much appreciated 😊
Ok that made a lot more sense... I thought you measured on the 45-degree line and then had to figure out how to cut it on that line. LOL.. Wow... learning something new every single day.
Great tutorial! ... and I totally agree with my fellow quilters/sew-ers, it is the clearest tutorial I have seen. Thank you Laura 🤩
Thank you for a clear and simple demonstration. I needed the bias cutting method for using strips on projects other than large quilts and this was perfect. I'll be checking out your other videos, too.
Thank you, thank you, thank you. You made it easy to make your own bias binding.
I can not tell you how I have struggled with cutting bias binding! This was the easiest I have ever done! THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH!!
THANK YOU SEW MUCH! I was just looking to purchase pretty Christmas bias binding and the prices!!!! So, I googled how to make easy bias binding and there you were!!!! Will make ALL my own pretty bindings from now on!!! HAPPY DANCE!!!! LOL
Wonderful video- easy to follow and understand. Thank you so much.
Thank u! I was a bit confused on how to cut the bias binding. This I understand and really there is just a bit of fabric left over. Great tutorial!
Hello Laura, as I've posted some of my projects I've learned from you..... yes again, you teach us, me well.... you make my happy place (my sewing room), more happy... thank you again for teaching us on a positive learning level... Jon

Thank you, thank you ,thank you. I have watched many videos and taken a quilting class. This method is so easy to do and remember.
I prefer sewing first and then cutting a continuous strip.
I love all your tips and tricks! Thank you. 8-)
After looking for the easiest way, you win! This is the easiest way and will be doing it today. Tried the one where you cut and sew and match up the lines, but so complicated. Thanks so much. Have a great day!
Can't wait to use your easy to understand method. Love your videos!

Hi my name is Laura like you , I Love the way you teach may God Bless you and thanks .
Thank you! That was the best video and instructions I've seen on bias binding. Thank you for sharing and looking forward to more of your wisdom.
I have watched several ways to make bias binding, your way is the easiest for me.
i adore how you have made this absolutely and completley idiot proof. Thank you!!!
Your presentation was great. I am working on bias for pipping for deck cushions and really panicked when folding when the fabric was very very thick and raveling... I was going to do a yard at a time. Now I will do a half yard at a time. It will take longer but I feel it will be better to do. Thank you so much.
Thank you so much! I love your clear, concise, videos. I have learned so much
This is the best tutorial I have ever seen for making bias binding. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
The best instructions I’ve seen on making bais binding ..simple and clear..thank you Laura 💐
Great video..never saw binding made this way!
I have avoided bias binding for 30 years, I understood your instructions! Thank you! I have a scalloped edge I can bind now, no anxiety!
Thank You Laura For The Video ,I Bought Some Yesterday And It's Very Expensive For 1 and half yds It Was £3.20, I Will Try This Thank You As I Can Buy 5 Fat Quarters For £7.00

I can't thank you enough. I'm about to tackle binding my first project. So easy to understand watching you..
Very very nice, I get it so much easier now. For Heavens sakes. I will not be so worried about cutting on my fabric now. Finally I understand.
Hello,
Thank you for this easy tutorial, I’ve got a question though. Why can’t you sew the „wrong angles“ from left and right together ? Is it just taste or is the binding then not as good?
This is the best I’ve seen ❤️ Thank you!!
Exactly as @laurenclaire1386 commented!!! This is the BEST tutorial I have watched to cut, match ends and attach lengths together. Thank you
Yes, I have just watched several videos on biased tape making. I have sewn since age 11 and now 60. This is the absolutely best tutorial I have ever watched. Thank you for making a difficult process so very easy.

So helpful! Thank you! Made my first bias binding with confidence and I'm so pleased with the results. Excellent guidance!
Lorraine you are a Great Teacher!❤. You make everything so easy to work on😊❤. Thank You, am your subscriber from India.
Thank You 🙏 you are a wonderful teacher, I understand everything you shared. I am dyslexic.
Another brilliant tip. Thank you!
I really liked this video. Thank you for sharing. ♥♥♥
Oh my gosh! Thank you so much for this video. All the others I watched were so hard for me to figure out. Love your channel. Always learn so much. Thanks
Thank you, I am a beginner and this was very helpful… practice, practice and practice…
Very well explained and easy-to-follow instruction. So clear! I have a question, what are the best kinds of fabric to use for bias tape?
Thank you for demonstrating a way to be sure the angle you're using is 45 degrees. I have several rulers with all kinds of lines, but not one with the degree of each line given. I still don't know which line on my ruler is the 45 one, though. I keep looking for one that splits a corner but that's not how the lines look. Guess I need to get out my protracter.
Absolutely the method I will use. It works for my brain and left handedness. Thank you for showing us. We all have different learning styles.
Speaking of "correcting" the angles on the ends of your pieces when each end faces opposite directions, could you have the same effect on the fabric if you just moved one side to the other - matching the angles while keeping the strips straight, instead of having to cut anymore of the fabric off of each strip ? Very helpful tutorial. Always been a little daunted at the thought of making my own binding - will now watch and follow instructions for my first attempt! Thank you for sharing.
Amazing! I’m sold on this lovely method, will do this tomorrow on the potholders many thanks lovely lady😘🇨🇦
That’s the first time that’s made sense to me. I have 3 quilt tops (2 are lap quilts) but scared to go any further....unsure of everything that comes next minus the batting.
Best tutorial for bias binding that I have EVER seen! Thank you so, so much!!
Good idea thanks Laura. Can I use duvet covers for making the bias binding. Or is it going to be too thin and stretchy.
Also where can I get a cutting mat like yours please.
How do you make a 5/8" binding? The bias makers are 1/4" or 1/2" or 3/4". I'm stumped.
I'm a brand new sewist. is this good for clothes binding also, or just quilts? sorry if that's a silly question! thanks!
Wow, your instructions are perfect! I sure do appreciate this.
hi i havent done any sewing for 20 odd years, obviously the pandemic has changed all that. now i need to make some bias binding, and my pattern calls for extra wide double fold bias binding, so how wide should i cut my strips please
This was perfect for me! How short is too short of pieces to join together. A few 6" mixed in with longer ok?😅
If you have a shape different from square or rectangular quilts, you need to use bias binding to get around corners easily.
Both work great. The bias is stronger but the straight grain binding is easy to do the math for:)
Finally!! A bias binding tutorial that is easy and chill! I can totally sew this by hand ✋! The "continuous bias binding" tutorials where stressing me out so much 😢 thank youuuu! ❤
I absolutely love this method. Thank you, I love your tutorials and your cheerful easy❣ instructions ❤
I just got from amazon a bias tape kits of different sizes. Who needs to buy such a tiny amt and pay a lot for the kind in a store, plus they never have the right color or prints. The fat quarter amt is nice also to figure out inches 😺
This was a great video to follow on bias binding, thank you so much!
Your method is so simple. I've got to tell my sister to watch this video. Thanks for sharing!
Another great video simplifying a project that can be daunting.. Thanks,
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Sending love n hugs,
Gill 🦘 Australia
LOVE your videos! you are a fabulous instructor! THANK YOU
I use a two inch wide metal yard stick to cut strips. More accurate than the folding methods on other videos and you don't have to slide it up or down to make those long cuts. One caveat though, check after every other cut to make sure that you are at a 45 degree angle.
Lighter colour would be better to explain the trimming the ends. But very good explanation.
I loved (& needed!) this video! Thank you for your clarity, realistic timing and great visuals! You’re the best!
As always a detailed and simple to follow tutorial. Thanks so much for sharing with us.
I have been sewing for over fifty years and quilting for about five. I always learn something from your videos. I think you are the best instructor that I have seen. You are always clear and concise. Thank you for all that you do for us! I can't wait for your next video.
