    Hello! Wow! You’re so kind to mention my video!
    I’ve been watching your channel for years, so to say I was pumped hear that you’ve even seen one of my videos would be a huge understatement!
    Your top turned out SO beautiful and fits you perfectly! I would love to eventually learn how to adjust patterns as wonderfully as you.
    The fabric you chose is magic. Block printed fabric is so special, and suits this style perfectly!
    Also- Thank you so much for sharing your health updates with us. Wishing you effective (and tolerable) treatments, and a smooth recovery! 💕

      Thank you, Rachel! I've watched several of your videos and love your style! Happy to give you a shout out :) and I loved the fabric you used, it gave me the nudge i needed to finally get these block prints!

    I appreciate the health update- always thinking of you with so much empathy, but know it's not your favorite topic to be bombarded with. I LOVE that fabric- my style is sort of urban boho I guess so all those prints and patterns make me happy!

    I agree. That top looks wonderful and being able to modify things to flatter ones proportions is priceless. The word flatter is appropriate because we aren't saying anything that isn't true. The reason why most store bought garments don't look flattering on everyone is because everyones proportions are different, not bad. Perfect example is my husband and myself, we are about the same height but he is long torso and short legs and I am short torso with a high waist and longer legs.It's all about proportion.

    • @PatternScout
      @PatternScout 2 місяці тому +3

      Yes, exactly! "Flattering" to me is not about pleasing anyone but myself (or beating myself up when things don't fit me well)! :)

    • @lorieburtt592
      @lorieburtt592 2 місяці тому +4

      Yes! I tell my sewing students that ready to wear clothing often doesn’t fit and flatter because it isn’t really made to fit anyone, it’s made to *approximately* fit *everyone,* and that can never satisfy us all. When you sew your own clothes, they are all made to fit exactly one person. And that’s wonderful!

    This is a great hack. I really love this style of top too. I love the longer sleeves and the skirt part is placed in the perfect spot. I've made 3 of your poppy blouses and I wear them so much in the summer. I made all three of them out of rayon challis (my favorite fabric next to linen) I hope you know how talented you are. Oh, and so glad you're doing well and that you don't have to have chemo. I am a registered oncology nurse and some advice I can give you is stay hydrated. Also, Rad Therapy can make you super tired but you will get through this. It's a temporary but necessary aggravation. Anyway, thanks for sharing this part of your life with us.

    I’m so glad you are doing well. You’ve been in my thoughts since you shared your news. 🙏🏻
    So, it’s taboo to say “flattering”? I’m oldish, so I didn’t know that this had become a thing(?) But, allow me to be a favorite aunt for a minute and grant you full permission to use the term and to want your clothes to be flattering. 😁 That top is so pretty! I have the same issues with peasant tops. My bust is just too full for most peasant tops to hang properly, and I love the style of them, particularly since I’m currently enjoying revisiting my hippie youth style. All of the wide leg jeans, peasant tops, milkmaid dresses - these were all my teens and early twenties styles. And, my generation was “upcycling” our jeans long before it was called that. 😄 So, thank you for this.
    ☮️✌️and ❤ from a 1970s girl!

    I love that fabric and the colour really suits you. I'm into pattern hacking, so this was really interesting for me. The health update was good news. Take it from a survivor that radiation therapy, while it seems non-intrusive, is no picnic and can leave you feeling exhausted. Be kind to yourself, rest well and don't feel pressured to overdo things. Best of luck as always. 🩵

    So good to see you Casey. You're top is gorgeous and the reminder, again, that making something we like doesn't always mean that we need a new pattern. Your tweaks were perfect. I love block-printed cotton but always assume that it's too heavy/sturdy for tops and dresses. I guess that's all I've ever seen. I'll definitely keep my eye out for lighter-weight versions.

      On another note, I have a stretch woven fabric and wondered about a pants pattern that might work. I was thinking the Dawn jeans but the pattern calls for rigid denim. I typed randomly into google "Has anyone every made the Dawn jeans in stretch woven" and, voila!, a video of yours on this very topic came out on top. I'm off to watch that video now. Thanks for the great content. Wishing you continued peach, strength, and good health.

That might sound odd because you would see more definition but it's better to show the curvature than to look like a rectangular block because the clothes are draping from my widest points front and back. 🤷🏽‍♀️ For my figure I would have dropped it lower and gone with a peplum so you can see that I have multiple body parts, ha.

    Nice to see you looking so well. I hope you get through it all just as well. I like Rachel's style too. Love the fabric and finished top. It's fun to see your process. You have a good handle on what suits you.

    I did the radiation treatments too and the only side effect I had from that was a bad memory for a few months. If you take tamoxifen you may notice being more tired than usual. Thanks for your videos! Good luck with treatment ❤

    100% Casey! I love these hacks you do. You have a very good eye for styling. You are so right about the peasant blouse not looking the best on a larger bust. Your version is great and if you made this as a pattern, I would make it.
