I am this man that wants to share how this moose became so attached to me and my work the Creekwood Inn & RV Park. As you can see it was a surprise I was video this day by a good nieghbor alaskan that I just 1 year to 8 months he said he made a video of me feeding this moose. this is a yearly calf the mother was killed on the seward highway 3 weeks to this day by a plumbing truck that could not avoid hitting the mother. this day brought tears to my eyes and my partner Cindy Sue. to see a mooose being put down. it was that night i was working and went out to walk the grounds and here was my first time me and my little partner became freinds. never did i feed it people food. trees and bushes what i feed it. the moose would love to be talk too and scratch on his noose and ears. but dinner was the menu. awesome video. all you animal lpvers would done the same.
still alive and a very large 3 year bull today. does he come to me look for the next time he hears my call. here moose here moose i share the video. only winter time do i see him. wierd thing.
I lived in Alaska for well over a decade. Most people including myself are more weary of moose than bears. But I had some encounters that were beyond unique. I had the pleasure of seeing a cow give birth. I got a bucket of rain water and actually took it to her before her 2nd was birthed. She had a big scar on her side and over the years an many interactions trust grew between us. She even allowed my dog around her & the calves. One day a friend called me & told me one of her calves was tangled in that fluorescent construction plastic fencing. My friends & a trooper were there and told me she wouldn't let anyone near the calf. The trooper said if I got into trouble he would be obligated to stop her (shoot) it was strange but as soon as she saw me she walked toward the calf, like she was leading me to it. As I took hold and started a king at the plastic the calve let out a distressed call and she took an aggressive stance. In a soft voice I just told her a few things and she stopped. She was two feet away & I could feel hurt breath. I made the last cut on the plastic and the little fella ran straight to behind her. They walked away unharmed. I was lucky to not be stomped to death. The trooper said he'd never seen that before. I quickly responded by saying, "I've never done that before". It was one of my finest hours.
Amazing, but dangerous at the same time. Moose could have jumped fence. A tender moment as the moose was hungry. Something the man who filmed and man who fed will never forget. Thank you for sharing this.
I raised two sons and I always told them, if a dog doesn’t like someone, then you need to leave that person a lone also! My grandfather always told me, nature knows best !
Unless someone is trying to convert you to Christianity keep your belief's to yourself. We don't need them shoved down our throats any more than you need Christianity shoved down yours.
When I lived in Anchorage it was not too uncommon to see tagged moose wandering in neighborhoods. When my oldest son was 6 or 7 he was playing outside in back of our home near Russian Jack's Spring with a couple of friends when they saw a (female) moose with what looked like a collar to them. They cautiously walked up to her and she let them pet her. My son tells it this way. "We thought she was tame because she had on a collar. When we got close we saw it was something attached to her ear, but by then we were close enough to pet her, so we did." God takes care of children and idiots, so the saying goes.
Wonderfully decent guy to help out this young Moose in need. Too bad there is no food to lay out for these young ones who DO need a bit of help to make it through the winters.
I helped a bull elk forage on a tree by pulling a branch lower. It was taller than me and I am 6.3 It walked right up to my camp and I just sat still talking to it softly, finally got up very slowly to do this. About that time a family in a car came driving around the camp area. Someone out there has a photo of me doing this! (To be clear, I could reach higher than it could stretch its neck. BIG guy! )
That’s crazy, and I love it. Things I’ve heard about moose are pretty scary. That’s just an incredible encounter. Be careful. You’re a lucky man to have experienced that first hand. 👋🏻😅
When moose calf grown up around human population areas, they are used to human contact. But in general, still be careful around bull Moose. Always unpredictable, and dangerous.
In New York too. A moose crossed the ice on the Mohawk River and ran through a snow football game, jumped over a Jeep and went back across the river. Shout out to Schenectady!
I live in the middle of a small Utah town and I get huge deer in my yard all year. One was sleeping in my gazebo when my brother went out back and they scared the crap out of each. :-)
I live in Tooele and we see deer strolling up & down Main St. all the time during the winter. Many people leave their gardens open for the deer to mosey in and scrounge for tasty scraps.
My husband's cousin in Mapleton have huge deer in their backyard year round also. And they have startled each other a few times too. I like visiting there!
When I was about 5-6 years old my Dad likes to get up around 5:30 is to make coffee, then he usually goes back to bed for bit until it's done. Well one spring morning, my dad wakes me up, and says, come and see the moose, I just saw it cross our street, and went over to the apartments. I put on my robe, and jacket and boots, and followed my dad across the street, and behind the apartment buildings, there was the giant female moose. She must have wander up from the river valley, and followed her nose. I grew up in Riverbend, and suburb of south side Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The capital of Alberta. Highly populated. We have the largest inner city River valley, in the world. I remember, always seeing deer, beaver lots of wildlife in the forest, right behind my house. But the moose, I will never forget. Fish and Wildlife, ended up knocking out the Moose, and brought her back to the River valley. End of story. Thanks for the share! That man feeding the Moose, must be the Moose whisperer. He's super brave for doing that, they are dangerous, any wildlife are dangerous. Wow cool though.
I love what you did and I agree - animal lovers can communicate with animals... don't read hateful judgemental comments ... you did not capture it ...you just befriended it in the wild SO WHAT!! It is beautiful
THE INTERACTION BETWEEN ANIMALS AND HUMANS IS AMAZING AT TIMES,BUT COULD QUICKLY BECOME DEADLY.YET IT IS AMAZING TO SEE PEOPLE WITH BEARS, TIGERS OR INCREDIBLE RELATIONSHIPS WITH WILD ANIMALS THAT SIMPLY JUST CANT BE, BUT WE S👁👁 WITH ARE OWN EYES AND THIS ALLOWS ME TO LOVE THE ANIMAL KINGDOM THAT MUCH MORE❤️👈🏻🙏🏻
I made friends with a fox in a refinery. Poor bugger must have got hurt at some point , he had bad limp . I won’t say refinery name became he was basically adopted by employer. Loved his tuna fish .
When I was but a very small boy we lived near Anchorage Alaska and there was a Moose who would come up to the back door of our home every morning because my Dad made it pancakes and then feed them to it. It was a memorable and awesome time in my life.
That's a young one. It happens in Maine quite a bit..sometimes they swim from island to island in the bay...sometimes they follow the railroad tracks into town...
I grew up in West Virginia and a bear got killed by a train she had 3 baby bears with her and they were fine bout 2 - 4 months old, I was 10, 3 kids in our holler got a bear for a pet that day, I gave mine to a Sanctuary for bears in South Dakota when I was 27 when I moved to Florida for work.
cool story. I used to LOVE visiting the folks that lived in those hollers, nobody had much money, but they were the kindest, generous, wonderful people I've ever met. one thing, you better like ho bread! lol
The moose was hungry. Elk come right downtown in West Yellowstone to eat. The town sprung up in their winter feeding grounds. They are very docile and the people place hay out for them. I saw two elk stroll through the driveup teller area at the local bank.
You "animal lovers" have no idea that moose eat branches all winter long. If you actually cared you could educate yourselves rather than speculating. Instead you sit in cities and do the opposite of what is actually in natures best interests. Very similar to when Californians come here and fish in the summer and criticize Alaskans for dumping fish carcasses back to the river. They say "this would never be legal in California". They recommend dumping fish waste in the trash to go to landfills rather than back to the eco system.
Couldn't he feed it an apple or something? Or is that against the law? I know it is illegal to bate for hunting purposes but thus clearly isn't the situation
as much as I would have liked to do the same thing, it is never ok to feed wildlife. the moose will be tricked into thinking this is a place of safety and a reliable food source. you can see there is a highway at the edge of the screen and anything but a safe place. I love wildlife and would love to feed a moose apples in the winter but the best thing we can do is leave them alone. when they get close, scare them away and make them think humans are scary...because we are.
no. youre just out of touch with reality. it didn't need help. it wasn't scared. what youre suggesting will get the deer killed. don't suggest I don't want what is best for wildlife. its idiots like you that interfere that cause their unneeded deaths. and learn to communicate with words and ideas and not typed symbols of faces and dogs. you probably voted for Hillary and think everyone, including this moose and yourself, is a victim. and nice job thumbing yourself up..lol.
soaringtractor, while I do not agree with mad munchies regarding the treatment of wild animals a Moose is a deer. In fact they are the largest member of the deer family.
soaringtractor While I agree that feeding large wild animals is not a good thing, we feed our small wooded friends on a regular basis. We have feeders for the hummers, nuthatches (2 kinds), chickadees, Oregon juncos, robins, 3 kinds of woodpeckers, banded pigeons, 2 kinds of squirrels to name a few of the wildlife species in our backyard. We also provide them with water. We used to have raccoons and pheasants but our wooded area has been turned into housing and they have found homes elsewhere. I do not believe that feeding them dies any harm. When we are gone, a neighbor feeds the fir us. Not only does it give them a much needed source of food but it gives us great pleasure. However, I would not feed stray dogs and cats, let alone deer and moose. It is a bad policy, I agree.
soaringtractor, The dumbass would be the one attempting to show how intelligent they are and getting it completely wrong (you). The Moose is the largest member of the deer family. The family Cervidae. This includes the elk/wapiti (notice, no deer in the name), the Caribou (also, no deer in the name), and also many others which include deer in their common names such as Coues deer, the white-tailed deer, the black-tailed deer (sub-species of) the mule deer, the Sika deer, etc., etc.
I think that might have been one grateful young Moose, If more people did what that guy did I.e. interact with nature the world would be a happier place, That Moose overcame its fear of humans through hunger and both he and the man were rewarded just by that simple interaction.
Monica vs Yea, and the guy I saw feeding a squirrel yesterday can be secretary of state, because everyone knows, feeding wild animals = Presidential material. sarc/.
Mad Munchie Haha! Actually, I'm the perfect weight. Although I feel insanely sorry for those poor creatures that have to suffer you on a regular basis. After all, you're safe from criticism with them, since a poor animal can't speak to voice it's displeasure. You know what? I can't be bothered with you any more. You're too immature and clearly self-absorbed, so I'm gonna go talk to the people who are actually worth talking to and leave you to your poor deer. Good day!
I hope that sweet moose has a family to go home to. We all need someone. And maybe he will go back to look for that man. Love to all animals! xoxo
What a well behaved dog for not barking and going crazy with the moose there
That is the sweetest thing ever, I think I would had gone to the store & bought him some Moose food, he looked very hungry! Bless that man! 😇

Yeah that is a quality saying. Humans are animals too so it is deeper than some people may think.
Thomas Tammaro I’d add children too.

Love it.

In psychology the 1st sign of a psychopath is the ability to harm maim and kill animals without empathy or remorse.
Amen to that
That’s how you communicate with another animal, help it eat, you good , that guy is a true human from the earth 👍🌿
I adore men that care for animals, I really do. Thank you for filming this.
A long, happy healthy life to both. It is always an amazing thing to have a wild creature have enough trust in a human to eat from his hand.
they do trust humans and they know from body language if he is kind or aggressive.

Thanks for sharing. It warmed my heart.
I totally agree, and he did a fantastic job capturing that footage.

That sounds so cool. That's a one in a million one in a lifetime thing!! Be proud as you should be. Great story. Thanks for sharing!!!!
There's been movies made from stories not half as good as yours...ijs
Amazing, but dangerous at the same time. Moose could have jumped fence. A tender moment as the moose was hungry. Something the man who filmed and man who fed will never forget. Thank you for sharing this.
Awesome! Thanks for sharing this experience. This guy must be a super good guy. Animals have very clean instincts where humans are concerned.
I raised two sons and I always told them, if a dog doesn’t like someone, then you need to leave that person a lone also! My grandfather always told me, nature knows best !
I like how your dog is wanting to visit the moose. So cool!
The Moose is hungry Winter can be harsh for finding food and they will seek companions of any nature to help them Much love to all x
Your dog is the awesome one, Didn't make a sound!!! The moose whisperer is incredible also. Peace to all.
I like your dog. Makes me laugh when it looks over the wall.

Just can't help playing the theme from Northern Exposure in my head as I'm watching this.

"This is not okay!"
DAFOE 74 lol I just said something similar
You keep showing how stupid you are, it's a moose not a deer.
Females don't have antlers, rinos have horns dumbass.

I´m not affraid of big animals...but I would keep distance from all wildlife (no matter if less or more dangerous).
It could happen in Maine too! Pretty sweet the guy helped out the moose.

That's a good thing to interact with this gentle beautiful moose.
No it isn't, a moose that trusts humans is at risk for being a moose shot by a hunter.

ray brown moose go over a fence like that without a problem.
Mad Munchie shows how little you know. I've lived around moose most of my life. Thanks for pointing out your ignorance.
Mad Munchie You know why he can't jump over his fence? 'Cause you overfeed him. Simple, see?
Mad Munchie Haha! Actually, I'm the perfect weight. Although I feel insanely sorry for those poor creatures that have to suffer you on a regular basis. After all, you're safe from criticism with them, since a poor animal can't speak to voice it's displeasure.
You know what? I can't be bothered with you any more. You're too immature and clearly self-absorbed, so I'm gonna go talk to the people who are actually worth talking to and leave you to your poor deer. Good day!
