Max Canada Lynx, the educational animal ambassador takes a moment to get some good scratchin' before he sits down for his meal. He was born at a zoo in May 2011. Max is not domesticated but has been humanized. He still has wild tendencies. He educates the public locally on the endangered/threatened (in lower 48 states) Canada Lynx in hopes that people will be driven to conserve our environment and protect our wildlife. Technically, they are listed as "threatened" but in my state of NY they are considered "extirpated." However, it's legal to trap these beautiful animals in Canada and Alaska because they are listed as "least concerned."
He is NOT declawed. During the winter he weighs 40 pounds and summer about 34. He has about 4 inches of fur in this video which makes him look fat....I mean fluffy!
This video is NOT taken in my home but where he has an indoor enclosure. This is Max's rug with his fur, straw and other scents that he loves. He doesn't like the vacuum. Max also has outdoor housing where he spends most of his time.

We had a pet bobcat in mountain ranch California, it was a kitten with its eyes still closed Mom being a nurse ,raised it up and it lives about 12 years in captivity, Cleo was a free roaming hunter by night and a bed sleeper by day.

A very easy way to tell if something is an apex predator (at least on land) is if their eyes are based at the front of their head (cats, dogs and humans all share this quality as do birds of prey such as eagles and owls), most animals that are prey have their eyes on the sides of their heads to offer a greater field of vision to allow them the ability to flee. an apex predator is the dominant hunter within a ecosystem a thing which dogs are very capable of being (at least the large breeds, I’m not talking about those toy dogs people put in handbags)

because all small cats are the same. Unlike dogs, cats were never domesticated and are all "wild". They choose to live close to people because it's convenient for them. Not because they depend on us. Their trust or distrust is based on what they learn when they are kitten. Hard to change later.
So "wilderness" is not what I would be afraid of. Instincts and reflexes are. Every cat may panic or first jump and think later. With this one it could be harmful even when he "doesn't mean to" harm.
Not always true, cats will sometimes lay on their backs as a defence position.....Cat’s are kinda like people in that sense, some are good at swatting it out and others stuck with the ground game LOL

I traveled from Salt Lake City to Kanorado , Kansas on foot , accepting rides only occasionally because I wanted to experience that part of the country in the best way possible, which is on foot. I was walking along a stretch of US 50 in Utah when I saw a lynx walking behind me. It followed me for several miles apparently just curious, never getting too close but obviously interested in me. It was just one of several cool experiences I had on my trek through the the Wasatch , Utah's canyon country and the Rockies in Colorado . I'm an Indiana native so I saw many things I'd never seen before.
In fact, animals don't like us, but our hands. The best scratching tool ever.

Like people, all are not alike. Each has it's own personality. This Lynx was obviously one of the more docile of the litter.
It always tickles me seeing wild or bigger sized cats having the same exact mannerisms as our house kitties. Sitting in the box, the purring, the head rolls and rolling over exposing their tummy….a cat is a cat 😻
I mean, it's only been a couple thousand years since we domesticated cats, and even then, they let us domesticate them, unlike dogs, who we specifically bred to be friendly towards Humans.

I feel like a piggyback ride from the Max Canada Lynx with a collar around it's neck and I would like it to talk like a human in my dream tomorrow. I can't wait to sit on it's back I'm so excited.
