That breaks so many federal laws that I lost count, that city is part of a state which in turn is part of the US and has to follow the laws of this country no matter what they might think of them.

Either way in November he will succeed according to the judge who denied the motion in the first place.

He denied it out of a technicality. The motion that the plaintiff put forth legally requires urgency. The problem is that he waited a year into the term to do it. So by default, by definition, there wasn’t urgency to the request.
So the judge had to deny the claim. But he did state that they would likely win when the trial starts.
How is it not urgent that the rightful lawful government be allowed to operate?
Republicans don't like government and it's their job to see to it that government does not function.
Urgent would likely mean an active threat to life, liberty, or property. It sounds really messed up, but I actually think the judge was right in saying if you cant show that the injunction will prevent actions against those things, then its not right to make any moves until everyone has their day in court. But at least the judge preliminarily agrees that they will likely easily win in court. Sounds like a typical good ole boy system finally getting uprooted.
What? This is illegal and they should be jailed after being put on trial first, of course.
It’s AL, right now the AL state legislature is in open rebellion against the US Supreme Court which ruled that the districting map for US Congress to be used in Nov is illegal.
In fact SCOTUS ruled against this map being used in the 2022 mid terms but the AL legislature used it anyway arguing in June 2022 that it was too late to change for the Nov 2022 elections and the SC gave them a bye provided the illegal districting map was revised for the 2024 elections. Since then the AL State legislature has done zilch and is now again saying ‘it’s too late to change’.
In the background is the fact number of southern states have got together and are launching an action in federal court claiming that the federal courts and federal DOJ have no right to interfere in how states do districting maps.
How many of these "leaders" will be voting for Trump?

The mayor's mistake was not calling for backup. My first call would have been to Al Sharpton and my second call would have been to the national press corps.

The part you are missing is the mindset of local law enforcement. A law does not mean anything if it is not enforced.
My state governor passed a law against assault rifles. The mayor of my town said he would tell the local police force to NOT LIFT A FINGER to enforce the law.

For someone like me from another democratic country, this story sounds like something out of a bad Hollywood movie - completely hair-raising and unreal. It sounds like the civil war has only just ended.

What the lady fail to report that it's only a town in name only the reason these people are still leading the town is because they're the only people putting money into the town because there is no City Hall there is no bank account they do not collect taxes so the self-appointed leaders even though it doesn't sound bad they are the only ones put the money in the town because there's no business it's only designated as a town so that the citizens don't have to pay county taxes. If they are businesses as I said the town collects no tax if they collect no money again the only money that is going in there from the leaders is what the leaders are putting into it. That's why there ain't no real election there.
Your Best shot how many towns are only towns in name only all over the US and it's like that there is no election because it's the same people for so long they don't see the point in having an election so when you demand unless they don't have no system in place to do an election and again they don't collect no tax money so they have no incentive to put their own personal money into election they may lose. so then if you want an election you have to get to State to fund an election in those towns. And there's a red they have decided to take it to the courts or to some government agency that description to be in the town.

If you haven't noticed, there has a lot of horrible things that have needed to be addressed. We had an attack on the People's House. We've had our most sensitive national security documents stolen by the former admin, etc..... I have to give Garland and DOJ a little wiggle room. There's only so many prosecutors to go around. Still this is disgraceful and one would think the Govenor of Alabama and its AG would take care of this hideous violation of the constitution.
